Combined open fireplaces and cooking-stoves; dampers; grates. - A cooking-range comprises a grate 1, a boiler 13, a plurality of ovens 2, 3 above the grate, a boiler flue or flues 32, and oven flues 33, 35 extending up the sides of the grate, which, together with the boiler flues, discharge beneath the ovens. The stove shown comprises two ovens, one on each side of the centre-line of the stove. Gases passing up the left-hand flue 33 are, discharged beneath the oven 2 and are caused bv a partition 27 in the. oven bottom flue to traverse the bottom, outer side, and top oven flues to the outlet. Gases passing beneath the boiler to the flue 32 are also discharged beneath the oven 2 and are caused by the partition 27 to pass to the flue 4 between the ovens. Gases passing up the right-hand oven and boiler flues are similarly directed around the oven 3. Connected pivoted dampers 42 control the boiler flues, and are operated by a rod 45 pivoted to an arm carried by the rotatable rod 43 which connects them. An angle member 48 on the rod 43 limits the movement. Dampers 49, 50 controlling the oven flues 33, 35, are separately operated by similar means. A damper 58 controls the passage of the gases direct to the chimney flue. The side cheeks of the grate are formed by L-shaped blocks 36, 37 secured to the sides of the stove by hooks 36<a>, 37a engaging holes in the latter, short flue 38, 39 leading to the flues 33, 35 being formed beneath the cheeks.
