[Class 126.] The invention comprises a combination of features in "backto-back " open fireplaces and cooking-stoves of the type comprising a boiler b disposed between the fireplace a and oven g, a flue c beneath the boiler, flues around the oven, a flue k extending up between the boiler and oven, and dampers m, q for controlling the flues. According to the invention the flue k is of constant crosssection above the boiler, its rear wall is spaced from the inclined fireback d and is in vertical alignment with the wall of the chimney, the flue space j between the top of the oven and the hot-plate communicates directly with the chimney flue on each side of a cleaning door w arranged in the wall of the flue k and accessible from the firegrate side of the stove, and the dampers q controlling the passage between the oven side flues and the top flue j are independently operable. In the construction shown, the gases entering the flue j from the flue k pass round baffles s and thence pass to the outlets (not shown) on each side of the flue k leading to the chimney. The side oven flues are closed at the top except for the spaces covered by the dampers q. The cleaning-door w is accessible by removing the canopy e.
