Abstract

Combined open fireplaces a n d cooking- stoves; convertible close and open fireplaces ; trivets; dampers; boilers, arrangement of. - In a combination stove having an oven at some distance above the fire the top of the grate is closable by a pair of hob-plates l pivoted on vertical axes so that, as shown in Fig. 3, they may be swung outwardly to form trivets, and the fire-back d<1> is hollow and contains a flue f opening centrally beneath the oven g. In the stove shown, the hob-plates l are provided with vertical pintles l, and their meeting edges are chamfered so that the edge of one rides up over the edge of the other. A horizontally-pivoted trivet n may be tuned up to close the front of the fire, and the front grate w is pivoted at the lower edge so that it may be turned down to form a barless grate. The lower part of the flue f is formed behind a back boiler d, and the upper end of this flue is controlled by a sliding damper operated by the canopy k.
