Combined open fireplaces and cooking- stoves; convertible close and open fireplaces; trivets. - The back-toback grate of the parent Specification is provided with means for cutting off direct communication between the fireplace and chimney when the oven and hotplate are to be used. The means shown comprises a cover 4 removably pivoted at the front edge in the side cheeks 1 so that it may be turned over the fire, when it occupies an inclined position with its back edge against the fireback. In the position shown it forms a trivet, and is supported by the fall-bar 6.
