Abstract
206,894. McCallum, T. S., and Calto Co., Ltd. July 18, 1922. Blowers; ashes, collecting; ash - pans; braziers; canopies and hoods; outlets to chimneys. - A portable firebox, adapted to be hung on the front bars of a kitchen range, or to be placed in front of an open fireplace, comprises a front grate 6 and imperforate bottom 8 and sides 9, and is provided with an integral or detachable hood 2 which extends upwardly and backwardly towards the chimney and has an opening 3 in its front face. This opening is adapted to be closed by a removable plate 4 which may also be positioned in front of the bars 6, Fig. 1. A detachable inclined shoot 5 is fitted to the lower end of the fire-box to direct ashes &c. on to the hearth below the grate. When the device is used in front of an open fire-place, Fig. 3, the hood 2 is formed with a removable extension 13 and the fire-box rests on a stand 10 in which is fitted a detachable ash-pan 11 having inclined louvers 12 to conceal the ashes. At one or both of the upper front corners. of the device a projection 28 may be provided for the reception of the pivot pin of a trivet 29.
