209,381. Morse Dry Dock & Repair Co., (Assignees of Strachen, C., and Irish, D. J.). Jan. 5, 1923, [Convention date]. Spray burners. - The front of a liquid-fuel furnace is provided with two coaxial conical air passages formed by conical walls 9, 11, the outer wall 9 being secured to a plate 2 bolted to the front end of the furnace, and the inner wall 11 to a plate 12 connected with the wall 9 by helically arranged webs 13. Other helically arranged webs 33 extend between the wall 11 and a sleeve 34 through which passes the burner 35. The supply of air to the space between the walls 9 and 11 is regulated by pivoted vanes 14 operated by cams carried on a ring 19. The supply of air to the inner passage formed by the wall 11 is regulated by a " hit-or-miss " ventilator formed by a stationary plate 30 and a rotatable plate 31. The walls 9 may be formed in one casting with the wall 11, the plate 12, and the webs 13 and 33, and the whole hinged to the plate 2 to form a furnace door.
