Abstract

255,080. Burroughs, C. W. July 8, 1926. Pulverulent. liquid, and gaseous fuel furnaces. - Fuel is fed axially into a cylindrical combustion chamber, Fig. 1, from a burner 2 and is supplied with air under pressure through a manifold 3 and radial passages 30, 300 at different distances from the burner and in different directions so as to produce opposed vortex zones across the path of the burner flame. Deflectors 32, Fig. 3, are provided at the exits of the radial passages to produce the whirling movement of the air. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), the deflectors 32 are connected to rods and may be adjusted by rack and pinion gearing. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
