739,699. Burner apparatus. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP DE BATAAFSCHE PETROLEUM MAATSCHAPPIJ. May 11, 1954, No. 13774/54. Class 75 (1). [Also in Group XII] In burner apparatus for liquid and/or gaseous fuel comprising an air chamber having peripheral tangential air supply openings and connected with a combustion chamber by a coaxial throat, both chambers being formed substantially as bodies of revolution about a common axis, and a fuel supply pipe terminating in a tip or atomizer coaxially within the air chamber, a cone-shaped member 10 is arranged coaxially in the air chamber 5, the wider end thereof being remote from the throat 9, and the narrower end disposed near the tip or atomizer 4, the arrangement being such that the cone-shaped member 10 extends axially over at least that length of the air chamber 5 which is provided with the tangential air supply openings. The resistance to air flow within .the chamber 5 is thus reduced. The generatrix of the cone 10 may be slightly outwardly curved. Air flows into the chamber 5 from a surrounding air box 7 through the tangential openings provided between blades 6 which are of streamline form. Specification 703,721 is referred to.
