780,357. Spray burners. CHRYSLER CORPORATION. May 25, 1955 [June 4, 1954], No. 15055/55. Class 75(1) A fuel atomizing nozzle comprises a nozzle body portion 58 having separate fuel and air passages, the fuel passages 64 terminating in grooves 66 formed in a terminal portion 60 of the nozzle and the air passage 68 terminating in branch passages 72 extending through the terminal portion 60 and intersecting the grooves 66 externally of the body portion 58. The terminal portion 60 is of conical form and is formed on a cylindrical nozzle element 48 screwed into the body portion 58. The grooves 66 in the terminal portion 60 are offset from the central axis of the nozzle element 48. The fuel passages 64 are formed by axial grooves in the nozzle element and communicate at their upper ends with a casing 78 supplied with fuel by a pipe 42 and screwed on to the upper end of the body portion 58. The air passage 68 extends axially through the nozzle element 48 and is connected to an air pipe 46. The lower end of the body portion 58 has an inwardly directed flange 90 partially covering the conical terminal portion 60.
