Abstract

773,048. Burners. BARKER, R. M. Oct. 13, 1955 [Oct. 20, 1954], No. 29204/55. Class 75(1) [Also in Group XIII] A vaporized fuel-air mixture is' supplied to the burner of a fluid heater (see Group XIII) through a flaring passage 30 extending into the combustion chamber 14 and having at its end a cup-like burner which comprises a truncated cone 34 attached to a hemispherical base 35. Holes 36 in the base allow gases in the combustion chamber to be drawn in and re-circulated. In a modification, Fig. 3 the fuel-air mixture is supplied through a passage 41 to a circumferential groove 42 in a jet 43 and is discharged through an axial bore 45 into the tapering entrance 48 of the passage 30. Secondary air is drawn in from an inlet covered by wire mesh 49.
