Abstract
274,475. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Miller, L. B.). July 14, 1926. [Convention date]. Blowpipe, oxyhydrogen, and like burners are constructed to supply a combustible gas at an angle to a plurality of jets of a combustion supporting gas so that the gases are mixed outside the burner. In one form, hydrogen and oxygen are supplied through concentric conduits 2, 1 respectively, the hydrogen passing through orifices 7 and being directed by a member 8 through an annular opening 9 substantially at right angles towards the oxygen issuing from orifices 5. The orifices 5, 7 are formed in a cap 4 screwed on the end of the conduit 1. The outer end of the cap 5 and of the member 8 may be curved inwardly. In a second form, the member 8 is screwed on the end of the conduit 2 so that the size of the annular opening 9 may be varied. In a third form, oxygen is supplied through a chamber 17 to outlet orifices 18 and hydrogen through a chamber 24 to an annular outlet 26 and through a chamber 20 and conduits 21, which pass through the chamber 17, to outlet orifices 22 provided with deflectors 23. In a fourth form, the additional hydrogen is supplied through a single central conduit terminating in outlet orifices in front of which is arranged a deflector.
