699,705. Gas burners; pulverized fuel burners. WELLMAN SMITH OWEN ENGINEERING CORPORATION, Ltd. Sept. 5, 1952 [June 5, 1951], No. 13320/51. Class 75(i) In gas burner apparatus of the type comprising a main tubular part surrounded by a casing part one of said parts being supplied with fuel and the other with combustion air; the tubular part having an outlet at one end and the casing part having an outlet or outlets at the corresponding end which is or are directed inwardly at an angle to the gaseous stream leaving the outlet of the tubular part, an additional tubular part 10 is located within the main tubular part 4 and arranged to deliver a gaseous stream coaxially of that leaving the outlet of the part 4, and means is provided for directing a controllable amount of the fuel or air supply for the part 8 to the part 10. In the apparatus shown the air or fuel is discharged from the casing 8 through apertures 9 and is supplied thereto through a pipe 9a from which the pipe 10 branches. A valve 11 controls the relative proportions of air or fuel passing through the pipes 9a, 10. According to the Provisional Specification pulverized fuel may be used instead of gaseous fuel.
