Abstract
128,364. Lincoln, J. W. June 14, 1918. Valves.-A single sleeve valve B is reciprocated within the cylinder to control exhaust, transfer, and inlet ports J, K, L respectively, and the sleeve is arranged to move in the same direction as the working piston during the power stroke. Fig. 1 shows a four-stroke. cycle engine in which compressed air from the crank chamber is admitted to the cylinder through the transfer port K at the end of the power stroke for scavenging. and admission of the charge takes place late in the suction stroke through the port L. The invention is stated to be applicable to two-stroke and sixstroke-cycle engines; and, in two-stroke-cycle engines, the relative positions of the inlet and exhaust ports may be reversed. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 14729/05, 4448/09, 9084/10, 5014/11, 20959/11, 6609/13, 101,267, and 113,961.
