Abstract
118,383. Vincent, W. J. Feb. 1, 1918. Two - - stroke - cycle engines. - In an engine having a sleeve piston 6 which slides over a fixed head 12 and in which a pump space is formed in the cylinders in the end thereof remote from a combustion space in the interior of the sleeve, the fixed head is supported by a hollew member in which the small end of the connecting-rod reciprocates. A n additional cylinder may be arranged coaxially with the closed cylinder as shown in Fig. 3. In the upper cylinder, 24, 25 are inlet ports to the pump space and exhaust ports, respectively, and 28 are transfer ports in the piston. Charges are compressed above the piston 6 and transferred through ports 4<a> to a combustion space between the piston and a fixed head 12.
