Abstract

183,603. Hamilton, B. T. May 2, 1921. Two-stroke-cycle engines.-Pistons a, b of different diameters reciprocate in inclined cylinders A B and are acted upon simultaneously by each impulse the pistons being connected to a common crank-pin. The smaller cylinder contains the exhaust ports b which are fully opened and commence to close before the inlet ports a' are uncovered by the larger piston a. Charges are compressed in the crank chamber E. A modified construction is described in which the cylinders are parallel and the pistons are connected to cranks dsplaced by a small angle.
