Abstract

22,083. Pickard, W. Nov. 5. Plant.-The piston b of an internal-combustion engine reciprocates in a cylinder a and transmits motion to a turbine shaft i through pins b<2>, carried by the piston and working in cam grooves l in a prolongation of the shaft, and in a sleeve i<1> secured to the shaft. Ribs b' on the piston slide in grooves in the wall of the cylinder. Combustion gases from the cylinder a are led through ports a' and a passage a<3> to a turbine comprising disks g carrying vanes h and exhausting into a chamber j<1>. The cylinder and the turbine are enclosed in a cooling-jacket j.
