Values; valve-gear. - In an engine in which the air charge enters the working cylinder through one or more passages C, which also form the exhaust passage from the cylinder, the air being supplied by a pump whose crank is 50‹ to 70‹ behind the crank of the working piston, the inlet and delivery valves G, H of the pump and the exhaust valve J are mounted together on the pump cylinder head and are worked from a shaft N, Fig. 5, rotating at half crankshaft speed. The valves G, H are piston valves reciprocated by eccentrics G<6>, H<6>.
