Abstract

1,104,067. Incandescent gas fires. GASFIRED PRODUCTS Inc. 4 Aug., 1965 [3 Sept., 1964], No. 33435/65. Headings F4B and F4W. An elongate radiant gas heater comprises a conventional elongate horizontal burner 14 having loosely mounted thereon a combustion chamber 16 curving upwardly and forwardly of said burner and including a front panel 58 formed of a plurality of perforated radiant plates 90 with expansion slot 100 therebetween. and a double-skinned rear panel 60, 66. The burner is mounted by means of brackets 50, 52 in a casing 12, one or both of said brackets permitting differential expansion between the casing 12 and the burner 14. Secondary air enters the casing 12 through holes 24 and passes into the combustion chamber 16 through openings 72<SP>1</SP>, 72<SP>11</SP> arranged so that a larger column of air passes up the back of the combustion chamber thus directing the heat towards the front panel 58. A reflector 35 is attached to said casing 12 and is spaced therefrom to permit products of combustion, after passing around and through the front panel, to exhaust. The plates 90 may be integrally formed with the front panel 58 or may be separate and held in place by separate or integral brackets (114a), (116b) (Figs. 7 and 14, not shown).
