Abstract

1345332 Imitation solid fuel fires; convection heaters UNITED GAS INDUSTRIES Ltd 22 April 1971 [23 April 1970] 19465/70 Headings F4W and F4S A heater unit comprises a source of radiant heat and means for producing a visual image of a fire comprising a light source and a reflector rotatable about a horizontal axis and arranged so that the visual image appears to originate from the heat source. A panel 3 of heat resistant glass is arranged in front of an electric heater element 9, and a reflector 12 having shaped vanes is rotated above light bulbs 11 to produce an image of flames on the panel 3. The surface of the panel 3 may be varied, or parts of the panel may be coloured. Convection air entering at the bottom of the heater issues from lowered slots 5 above the panel. The heater element may be imbedded in the rear of the panel.
