Abstract

565,224. Gas-fired heaters ; burners. RADIANT HEATING, Ltd., and DOCKING, A. April 20, 1943, No. 6312. [Classes 75 (i) and 126] A gas-fired radiant heater comprises a cast iron casing 6, the rear part of which is constituted by a distribution chamber 2, supplied with gas at ordinary town pressure through pipes 11, 12 and governor 13, and fitted with horizontal rows of burner nozzles 1, the latter being disposed in a space to which air has free access through openings 9 so that sufficient combustion air is induced to form non-luminous flames which are projected forwardly into passages between refractory plates 3 mounted in the front part of the casing 6. The plates 3 are inclined upwardly towards the front and are backed by a refractory or cast iron partition 4 formed with rows of horizontally elongated holes 5 which register with the nozzles 1 and the spaces between the plates 3. The spent gases issuing from the front of the heater pass over a heat-radiating panel 10 extending upwardly and forwardly from the upper front edge of the casing 6.
