Abstract

Formation d'un revêtement silicié sur du verre défilant, à une température d'au moins 400 degrés C, devant un poste de revêtement. Du gaz contenant un silane est libéré pies de la surface du verre, sous une pression sensiblement constante en travers de cette surface et dans des conditions non oxydantes, de façon que le silane forme le revêtement en subissant une pyrolyse sur la surface du verre. Ledit gaz contient une certaine proportion d'un composé gazeux donneur d'électrons, qui confère au revêtement de la résistance aux alcalis. L'indice de réfraction du revêtement est de 2,5 à 3,5. Application à de nombreux verres industriels aptes à défiler devant un poste de revêtement, par exemple verre à vitres, verre optique et fibres de verre.
