Abstract
PURPOSE:To largely alleviate the restriction on the material used for end plates, by employing metallic sealing rings comprising a material whose thermal expansion coefficient is the same as that of a sealing tube. CONSTITUTION:The metallic end plate 2 and 2' and the sealing tube 1 made of hard glass constitute a sealing body. The end plates are connected to the sealing tube 1 via the metallic sealing rings 9 and 9'. The metal whose thermal expansion coefficient is the same with or approximate to that of the glass material of the sealing tube 1 is employed. Therefore, even though an electric discharge occurs and a high temperature is generated, the hermetical sealing between the tube 1 and the rings 9 and 9' is not broken. Even though the end plates 2 and 2' have the thermal expansion coefficient different from that of the sealing rings 9 and 9' to which said plates are connected, the hermetical sealing is not broken.
