Menetelmä vahvistettujen termoplastilaminaattien valmistamiseksi ja niistä valmistetut tuotteet - Förfarande för framställning av förstärkta termoplastlami-nat och produkter framställda därav 5 Tämä keksintö koskee menetelmää vahvistettujen termoplastisten laminaattien valmistamiseksi termoplastisista arkeista, jotka voivat olla erilaisia tai yhteensopimattomia, sekä näistä valmistettuja tuotteita.

Hakijan EP-patenttihakemuksessa 85300032.1 (julkaisu n:o 0 148 761) on kuvattu menetelmä kuituvahvisteisten muovi-materiaaliarkkien valmistamiseksi. On havaittu, että tällaisia arkkeja, jotka ovat laadultaan erilaisia termoplas-15 tisia materiaaleja, on vaikea laminoida, jos ne on tiivistetty. Nyt on kuitenkin yllättäen havaittu, että tällainen laminaatti on mahdollista valmistaa, jos lähtöarkit ovat tiivistämättömiä, kuten EP-patenttihakemuksessa 85300031.3 (julkaisu n:o 0 148 760) on kuvattu, tai ne on huokoistet-20 tu tiivistetystä tilasta, kuten hakijan EP-patenttihakemuksessa 85300034.7 (julkaisu n:o 0 148 763) on kuvattu. Edellisten kolmen EP-patenttihakemuksen asiasisältö otetaan tähän viitteenä mukaan.
25 Siten menetelmään laminoitujen vahvistettujen termoplastisten arkkien valmistamiseksi kuuluu tämän keksinnön mukaisesti ensimmäisten ja toisten huokoisten arkkien valmistaminen, joista kumpikin sisältää 20 - 60 paino-% yksittäisiä, erillisiä, noin 7-50 mm:n pituisia vahvistekuituja, 30 joilla on suuri kimmokerroin, yli 10,000 MPa, ja 40 - 80 paino-% termoplastista materiaalia. Menetelmälle on tunnusomaista että kussakin arkissa käytetään toisen arkin : termoplastisesta materiaalista eroavaa ja sen kanssa yh- teensopimatonta termoplastista materiaalia, ja että arkkei-35 hin kohdistetaan lämpöä ja painetta arkkien saamiseksi tiivistymään ja kiinnittymään toisiinsa laminaatin muodostamiseksi. Arkin huokospitoisuus voi olla sille luontainen 2 92303 sen lähtöarkin tiivistämättömässä tilassa, tai se voidaan aikaansaada huokoistaraalla tiivistetty arkki.
Suositeltavasta olennainen osuus kuiduista on halkaisijai-5 taan 13 mikronia tai pienempiä.
Silloin kun kuituja tarvitaan antamaan laminaatille rakenteellista lujuutta, erillisten lasikuitujen ei tulisi olla lyhyempiä kuin noin 7 mm eikä halkaisijaltaan suurempia 10 kuin 13 mikronia, koska sellaiset kuidut, jotka ovat pitempiä, eivät asianmukaisesti vahvista muovimatriisia, ja kuidut, jotka halkaisijaltaan ovat suurempia, eivät tehokkaasti vahvista matriisia. Vaihtoehtoisesti voidaan käyttää muita aineita olevia yksittäisiä kuituja, joiden vah-15 vistusteho on ainakin yhtä suuri kun lasikuitujen.
Suuren kimmokertoimen on ymmärrettävä tarkoittavan kimmo-kertointa, joka on olennaisesti suurempi kuin arkin vastaava. Tähän ryhmään kuuluvia kuituja ovat lasi-, hiili-ja 20 keraamiset kuidut, kuidut, joita myydään kauppanimellä Kevlar ja Nomex, ja yleensä niitä ovat kaikki kuidut, joiden kimmokerroin on suurempi kuin 10 000 megapascalia.
Ainakin yksi arkki voi olla tiivistämätön ja ainakin yksi 25 arkki voi olla huokoistettu kohdistamalla lämpöä tiivistä-: misen jälkeen.
Kuten edellä mainittiin, arkit voidaan ensin tiivistää ja sitten huokoistaa kohdistamalla lämpöä ennen laminointia.

Vaihtoehtoisessa menetelmässä voidaan muodostaa tiivistä-mättömiä arkkeja ja kuivata ne ennen laminointia.
Termoplastiset materiaalit voivat olla esimerkiksi poly-35 etyleeniä, polypropyleeniä, polystyreeniä, akrilonitriili-styreenibutadieeniä, polyetyleenitereftalaattia, polybu-tyleenitereftalaattia tai polyvinyylikloridia, sekä

3 92303 pehmitettyinä että pehmittämättöminä, tai näiden aineiden seosta tai seoksia toistensa tai muiden polymeeriaineiden kanssa. Muita sopivia termoplasteja ovat polyfenyleenieet-teri tai polykarbonaatit tai polyesterikarbonaatit tai 5 termoplastiset polyesterit tai polyeetteri-imidit tai akrylonitriili-butyyliakrylaatti-styreenipolymeerit tai amorfinen nailon tai polyaryleenieetteriketoni tai näiden aineiden seos tai seokset toistensa tai muiden polymeeristen aineiden kanssa.

Keksintö voidaan toteuttaa monin eri tavoin, ja seuraavak-si kuvataan joitakin suoritusmuotoja esimerkinomaisesti samalla viittaamalla oheisiin piirustuksiin, joissa: 15 Kuva 1 esittää menetelmää arkkien liittämiseksi laminaa-tiksi, jolla saadaan vain hyvin huono adheesio;
Kuva 2 esittää tämän keksinnön mukaista menetelmää laminaatin valmistamiseksi; 20
Kuva 3 esittää vaihtoehtoista menetelmää;
Kuva 4 esittää erästä toista vaihtoehtoista menetelmää; ja 25 Kuva 5 esittää menetelmää tuotteen valmistamiseksi käyttä-: en keksinnön mukaan valmistettua laminaattia.
Seuraavissa esimerkeissä valmistettiin huokoisia arkkeja A ja B kokonaispainoon 2000 g/m2, kukin EP-patenttihakemuk-30 sessa 85300032.1 (julkaisu n:o 0 148 761) kuvatulla menetelmällä, jolloin kumpikin arkki sisälsi 25 paino-% lasikuituja (halkaisija 11 /pm, pituus 13 mm), mutta disper-goituna erilaiseen termoplastiin. Piirustuksissa esitetty arkki A valmistettiin polypropyleenista, laatu GY545M, 35 valmistaja I.C.I Limited, ja arkki B valmistettiin XENOY:sta, polykarbonaatin ja polybutyleenitereftalaatin termoplastisesta seoksesta, valmistaja G.E. Plastics Inc.

Laminaatit valmistettiin neljällä eri tavalla, kuten oheisissa piirustuksissa on esitetty. Kerrosten välistä kiinnittymistä arvioitiin subjektiivisesti leikkaamalla 15 mm leveä ja 200 mm pitkä liuska ja taivuttamalla sen päitä 5 vastakkaisiin suuntiin kunnes tapahtui joko delaminaatio tai poikittaisrepeämä.
Esimerkki 1 (Kontrolli) 10
Kuten kuvassa 1 on esitetty, EP-patenttihakemukseen 85300031.3 (julkaisu n:o 0 148 760) mukaisella tavalla valmistettuja tiivistämättömiä kuivia arkkeja A ja B kuumapu-ristettiin erikseen vastaavasti 190°C:ssa ja 260°C:ssa ja 15 jäähdytettiin kylmien tiivistettyjen arkkien 1 ja 2 valmistamiseksi. Kylmät tiivistetyt arkit A ja B kuumapuris-tettiin sitten yhteen puristimessa 3 puristuksella 14 kg/cm2, jolloin arkkien kanssa kosketuksessa olevien pu-ristinlevyjen lämpötilat olivat vastaavasti 170eC ja 20 250°C. Saatu laminaatti 4 jäähdytettiin, ja sen komponent- tiarkkien välinen kiinnittyminen havaittiin hyvin huonoksi .
Esimerkki 2 25 : Kuten kuvassa 2 on esitetty, jo aikaisemmin tiivistetyt arkit A ja B kuumennettiin ja huokoistettiin EP-patentti-hakemuksessa 85300034.7 (julkaisu n:o 0 148 763) kuvatulla tavalla siten että ne tulivat läpäiseviksi, kuten viitenu-30 meroilla 5 ja 6 on esitetty. Huokoistetut arkit pantiin yhdessä puristimeen 3, jossa niihin kohdistettiin paine 14 kg/cm2 lämpötilassa 90°C. Saatu laminaatti jäähdytettiin, ja komponenttiarkkien välisen kiinnittymisen havaittiin olevan parempi kuin kuvan 1 yhteydessä kuvatussa menetel-35 mässä.

Esimerkki 3
Kuten kuvassa 3 on esitetty, esimerkin 1 alussa käytetyn kaltaiset tiivistämättömät arkit A ja B sijoitettiin 5 yhdessä puristimeen 3, jossa niihin kohdistettiin paine 14 kg/cm2 puristinlevyillä, jotka vastaavasti olivat lämpötiloissa 170°C ja 250°C. Saadun laminaatin annettiin jäähtyä, ja havaittiin, että komponenttiarkit olivat kiinnittyneet toisiinsa erittäin hyvin.

Esimerkki 4
Kuten kuvassa 4 on esitetty, muodostettiin esimerkissä 1 käytetyn kaltaiset tiivistämättömät arkit ja ne kuivattiin 15 yhdessä ennen kuumaan puristimeen asettamista, jossa niille suoritettiin sama käsittely kuin esimerkissä 3. Kompo-nenttiarkkien välille aikaansaatiin erittäin hyvä kiinnittyminen.

Kuva 5 esittää menetelmää tuotteen valmistamiseksi esimerkin 3 menetelmällä valmistetusta laminaatista 8. Laminaat-ti 8 asetetaan sopivasti kuumennettuun muottiin 9 puristi-25 messa, jonka kaksi levyä kuumennetaan 90°C:seen, ja siihen : kohdistetaan paine 14 kg/cm2 puristekappaleen 11 valmista miseksi .
Laminaatin tai puristeen viimeistys voi vaihdella käyte-30 tyistä materiaaleista riippuen. Siten jos arkin A lasikui-tupitoisuus on suhteellisen pieni, esimerkiksi 25 %, valmistetun kappaleen alapinnalle saadaan melko sileä viimeistys. Toisaalta suuri lasikuitupitoisuus, esimerkiksi 60 %, johtaa huokoiseen pintaan, joka muodostaa kiinnitys-35 pinnan myöhemmin lisättävälle pintakerrokselle.

Keksinnön tuloksena on siten tekniikka valukappaleen valmistamiseksi laminaatista, jossa voi esimerkiksi olla lämpöä kestävä kerros toisella puolella ja helposti puristettava kerros toisella puolella halvemmasta termoplastis-5 ta valmistettuna. On selvää että keksinnön piiri ulottuu myös sellaisten laminaattien muodostukseen, joissa on useampia kuin kaksi kerrosta. Voitaisiin esimerkiksi valmistaa kolmikerroksinen laminaatti, jossa on kuituvahvisteis-ta polypropyleenia oleva ydinkerros ja kuituvahvisteista 10 nailonia olevat pintakerrokset.
Seuraavissa esimerkeissä halkaisijaltaan 22 cm:n lasi-matto/polypropyleenilaminaattikiekko, jonka paino oli 4000 g/m2 ja lasikuitupitoisuus 40 %, ja jota myydään 15 kauppanimellä AZDEL, kuumennettiin 205°C:seen seitsemäksi ja puoleksi minuutiksi uunissa ja laminoitiin kiekkomaisessa muotissa puristuksella 140 kg/cm2 esimerkeissä määriteltyihin materiaaleihin.

Laminaatin toinen komponentti käsitti huokoisen tiivistä-mättömän arkkimaisen materiaalin, jonka paino oli 3000 g/m2, ja joka oli valmistettu EP-patenttihakemuksessa 25 85300031.3 (julkaisu n:o 0 148 760) kuvatulla tavalla 30 : %:sta pituudeltaan 12 mm:n ja halkaisijaltaan 11 pm lasi kuituja ja 70 %:sta nailon 6 -jauhetta, jota ICI Ltd. myy kauppanimellä MARANYL 236R. Saadun laminaatin kerrokset olivat jäähdytyksen jälkeen hyvin kiinnittyneet toisiinsa. 30

Laminaatin toinen komponentti oli olennaisesti sama kuin esimerkissä 6 paitsi että termoplastipitoisuus muodostui 70 35 %:sta polykarbonaatin ja polybutyleenitereftalaatin termoplastista seosta, jota myy kauppanimellä VALOX G.E. Plastics Inc.

Saadun laminaatin kerrokset olivat jäähdytettyinä hyvin kiinnittyneet toisiinsa.
Claims (11)
- 92303
- 1. Menetelmä laminoitujen vahvistettujen termoplastisten arkkien valmistamiseksi, johon menetelmään kuuluu ensim- 5 mäisten ja toisten huokoisten arkkien valmistaminen, joista kumpikin sisältää 20 - 60 paino-% yksittäisiä, erillisiä, noin 7-50 mm:n pituisia vahvistekuituja, joilla on suuri kimmokerroin, yli 10 000 MPa, ja 40 - 80 paino-% termoplastista materiaalia, tunnettu siitä, että kussakin arkissa 10 käytetään toisen arkin termoplastisesta materiaalista eroavaa ja sen kanssa yhteensopimatonta termoplastista materiaalia, ja että arkkeihin kohdistetaan lämpöä ja painetta arkkien saamiseksi tiivistymään ja kiinnittymään toisiinsa laminaatin muodostamiseksi. 15
- 2. Patenttivaatimuksen 1 mukainen menetelmä, tunnettu siitä, että ainakin yhtenä arkkina käytetään tiivistämä-töntä arkkia.

- 4. Jonkin patenttivaatimuksen 1-3 mukainen menetelmä, 25 tunnettu siitä, että käytetään kuituja joista oleellinen : osa on halkaisijaltaan 13 pm tai vähemmän.
- 5. Jonkin patenttivaatimuksen 1-4 mukainen menetelmä, tunnettu siitä, että arkit ennen laminointia ensin tii- 30 vietetään ja sitten huokoistetaan niitä lämmittämällä.
- 6. Patenttivaatimuksen 1 mukainen menetelmä, tunnettu siitä, että käytetään kumpanakin arkkina tiivistämätöntä arkkia. 35
