LA PRESENTE INVENCION SE REFIERE A UN PROCESO PARA LA PREPARACION DE 5 [ACETIL(2,3 -DIHIDROXIPROPIL)AMINO] -N, N'' -BIS(2, 3-DIHIDROXIPROPIL) 2,4,6-TRIIODO-1,3-BENCENODICARBOXAMIDA REPRESENTADO POR LA FORMULA (I) A PARTIR DEL ACIDO 5-AMINO-1,3-BENCENODICARBOXILICO DE FORMULA (II). DICHO PROCESO COMPRENDE LAS SIGUIENTES ETAPAS: (A) REACCION EN FASE HETEROGENEA ENTRE EL ACIDO 5-AMINO-2,4,6 -TRIIODO-1,3-BENCENODICARBOXILICO Y EL CLORURO DE TIONILO EN UN DISOLVENTE SELECCIONADO A PARTIR DEL GRUPO FORMADO POR: HIDROCARBUROS (C7-16) DE CADENA RAMIFICADA O LINEAL, HIDROCARBUROS AROMATICOS (C7-8), 1,1,1 TRICLOROETANO, ACETATO DE N -BUTILO, DIGLIME (DIETILENGLICOL DIMETIL ETER), EN PRESENCIA DE CANTIDADES CATALITICAS DE UNA AMINA TERCIARIA, PARA OBTENER UN COMPUESTO DE FORMULA (III); (B) REACCION DE ACETILACION DE DICHO COMPUESTO DE FORMULA (III) CON ACIDO ACETICO GLACIAL, QUE ACTUA A LA VEZ COMO DISOLVENTE Y COMO REACTIVO, Y CON CLORURO DE TIONILO; (C) LA FORMACION DE UN COMPUESTO DE FORMULA (V) MEDIANTE LA REACCION DEL COMPUESTO DE FORMULA (IV) CON 1 -AMINO -2,3 PROPANODIOL, MEDIANTE REACCION DEL COMPUESTO (IV) EN UN DISOLVENTE APROTICO DIPOLAR SELECCIONADO A PARTIR DEL GRUPO DE DIMETILFORMAMIDA (DMF), DIMETILACETAMIDA (DMA), DIMETILSULFOXIDO (DMSO) O N -METIL -PIRROLIDINA; (D) LA ALQUILACION DE DICHO COMPUESTO (V), EN SOLUCION ACUOSA A UN PH BASICO MEDIANTE LA ADICION DE UNA MEZCLA DE HIDROXIDO DE CALCIO E HIDROXIDO DE SODIO, CON EL 3 CLORO -1,2 -PROPANODIOL O EPICLORHIDRINA, Y A UNA TEMPERATURA ENTRE 40 Y 90º C.
