Definitions
- the present invention relates to a belt cleaning assembly for use in the fixing section of an electrophotographic copier / printer device.
- the invention relates to a device for holding a Cleaning tape in the fixing section of an electrophotographic device, the easy and quick maintenance and / or changing of the belt from outside the housing by a single technician.
- a typical electrophotographic device e.g. copier, duplicator, Printer, etc.
- a photoconductor film formed as an endless belt used to transfer an image from an input section to a receiving medium (e.g. a Sheet of paper, etc.).
- the film is charged and kicked then through an input section where an image (e.g. analog or digital) is on the loaded film is projected.
- the film then passes through one Development section where toner is applied to the loaded image, and further through an image transfer section where the image is on the paper sheet is transmitted.
- the paper then passes through a fixing section where the toner passes through Applying heat and pressure to the paper is fixed by the paper is guided by two opposing rollers, namely one Printing roller and a fusing roller, with one of the two rollers being heated.
- it is common to heat the fuser roller by placing the fuser roller in Is brought into contact with one or more heating rollers, causing heat on the Fusing roller is transferred.
- toner offset This occurs when some of the heat softened toner particles stick to the fuser roller and not how desired to be transferred to paper. As in the state of the art known, this toner offset can be the quality of those made with the device Copies significantly affected. To avoid this problem, is usually a release oil is applied to the fixing roller to prevent the toner from adhering to the roller prevent.
- Heating rollers are also effective as cleaning rollers in that they remove excess Pick up release oil along with other contaminants from the fuser roller, e.g. Waste toner, paper dust etc.
- these contaminants have to be kept constantly during of the printing process can be removed from the heating rollers to ensure high quality of the to preserve the printed products generated by the machine.
- most Machines of this type are now used for some continuous means Removal of these contaminants from the heating rollers during printing fitted.
- This type of machine consists of a web cleaning assembly in the Arrange fixing section, which comprises a cleaning material that the Contamination from the fuser roller continuously during machine operation "Wipes".
- This cleaning material is usually designed as a longer web (from a fabric such as NOMEX) and on a unwinding roller in the Web cleaning assembly wound up. This affects during printing Web material the heating rollers while it is simultaneously from the unwinding roller unwound and wound on a winding roller, which is also in the Cleaning assembly is arranged.
- the original stock of web material is on the Unwinding roller eventually wears out and needs to be replaced to maintain the quality of to keep printed products made on the machine.
- the winding roller with the used web material wound on it and the old, now empty unwinding roller must be removed and replaced with new ones as soon as the stock of railway material is available is used up.
- the replacement process should be like this be as simple and safe as possible.
- this process is simple enough thus an operator of the machine with minimal instruction from a maintenance technician can do this work when needed so that not every time a maintenance technician need to be called when the web material is used up; thereby significantly reduce the operating costs of the machine.
- the unwinding roller is normally run through an experienced technician who replaced the web cleaning assembly from the Fixing section pulls out on a telescopic rail, which in the housing of the Fixing section is attached. Because of the location of the web cleaning assembly in the The housing of the fixing section depends on the printing operation Web cleaning assembly when pulled out of the housing, so on the Telescopic rail that the winding roller is on the low side of the frame of the Assembly is located, which makes it difficult for the technician to close the winding roller see or grip without having to kneel in an awkward position. On spring-loaded pin is pulled out at one end of the winding roller, whereupon the Roller can then be lifted off a pin at the other end. As soon as the (for example full) winding roller is free, the other (for example empty) Unwinding roller can be removed in a similar way.
- the object of the present invention is simple and easy access to create the web cleaning assembly so that the web of the Removal of cleaning material quickly and easily by a single operator and can be replaced.
- the object is achieved by a device according to the features of the claim 1 and a method of servicing the web cleaning assembly to remove and replacing the unwinding and winding rollers therein according to claim 15.
- the web cleaning assembly is pivotable connected to a telescopic rail in the housing of the fixing section such that the web cleaning assembly can be pulled out of the housing and then into a Maintenance position to be rotated in which the unwinding and winding rollers for Maintenance purposes are easily accessible.
- the present invention particularly relates to an electrophotographic device with a fixing section, which in turn comprises a web cleaning assembly.
- the Web cleaning assembly includes an unwinding roller on which a web of one Cleaning material is wound up, as well as a winding roller on which the used Cleaning material can be wound up after the material contacts the heating rollers of the fixing section of the device and contaminants from the heating rollers removed.
- the frame of the web cleaning assembly has a front and a back, which are connected to each other via a basic element are.
- the frame is with a telescopic rail in the housing of the Fixing section connected by a pin connection such that the Web cleaning assembly pulled out of the housing and then out of their Operating position can be rotated into a maintenance position.
- To lock the Web cleaning assembly in the maintenance position is a releasable latch intended.
- the pin connection is through two pivot pins on the frame trained, which are rotatably supported in supports on the telescopic rail. These pens can are pulled out of the supports on the telescopic rail so that the If necessary, the web cleaning assembly is completely removed from the telescopic rail can be.
- the unwinding roller and the winding roller are detachably held in the frame in such a way that a first end of each roller slidably supports in a first axle bearing, the in turn is held on the back of the frame.
- the other or second end each roller is supported in a corresponding second axle bearing, which in turn is sliding is supported on the front of the frame, so that the second axle bearing between an operating position in which the second ends of the rollers in the Axle bearings are arranged, and a retracted position in which the second Ends of the rollers are free.
- FIG. 1 shows a typical electrophotographic device or machine 10 (e.g. one Copier, duplicator, printer) of the type with an endless photoconductor 11 is equipped (e.g. with photographic film), which in a closed circle Charger station 12, an exposure or input station 13, a development station 14, passes through a transfer station 15 and an erase / clean station 16.
- On Copy medium e.g. a sheet of paper S
- the transfer station 15 is fed where the toner image on the film 11 is applied the paper sheet S is transferred.
- the paper sheet S is then in the Fixing section 20 between a fixing roller 21 and a pressure roller 22 guided to the toner image on the paper sheet S before the paper emerges from the Fix machine.
- Fig. 2 shows a sectional view of a typical fixing portion 20, which in the electrophotographic machine 10 from FIG. 1 can be used.
- the fixing section 20 comprises a frame or a housing 25 in which the Printing roller 22, the fixing roller 21 and two heating rollers 23 are rotatably mounted.
- the pressure roller 22 turns (not shown) on the housing 25 arranged motor, the pressure roller 22, which in turn the fixing roller 21 through takes along the existing frictional contact.
- the fuser roller 21 is from the heating rollers 23 heated so that when passing through the sheet of paper S or one similar medium through the gap between the rollers 21, 22 on the Paper S existing toner by applying heat and pressure on the Paper is fixed.
- Wick roller assembly 24 arranged in the housing 25, the wick roller 24a includes to apply a "release oil” directly to the fixing roller 21.
- This oil carries help to avoid "toner offset” i.e. to prevent toner from sticking to the Fuser roller sticks.
- excess oil along with residual toner, Paper dust, etc. form residues on the fusing roller, which are applied to the heating rollers 23 can transfer and contaminate them. If these contaminants from the Heating rollers are not removed, the quality of the will suffer within a short time printed products made on this machine.
- a web cleaning assembly 30 is in the Housing 25 is provided, which comprises a web 31 made of a material that the Heating rollers 23 touched to remove the contaminants during the printing operation to "wipe it" and remove it.
- the web 31 can be made of a flexible cleaning material that is capable of to remove the contamination from the heating rollers on contact (e.g. a fabric-like material such as NOMEX®) without damaging the heating rollers.
- the Cleaning material is wound on the unwinding roller 32 and runs over the Tensioning roller 33 to winding roller 34.
- the tensioning roller 33 holds the material in contact with the heating rollers 23 when the web cleaning assembly 30 is in the housing 25 is in its operating position (Fig. 2 and 4).
- the cleaning material 31 Since the cleaning material 31 is continuously transported during the copying operation the web of cleaning material is finally used up and must be replaced regularly. Since, as is easy to understand, the housing 25 with a Large number of sensitive electrical and mechanical components (the are not shown for a better overview), the maintenance process for the Web cleaning assembly 30 and changing the unwinding roller 32 so easy and be as straightforward as possible to keep maintenance costs to a minimum restrict.
- the web cleaning assembly 30 includes one Frame 35 with a front 36 and a rear 37, which in turn with the Basic element 38 are connected. Is on for the purposes described below a projection 38a is formed on one side of the base element 38 (FIGS. 7 and 8), while a slot 38b is formed on the other side.
