Definitions
- the invention relates to an inking unit for a printing press, the one or more Distribution cylinders, ink transfer rollers, ink application rollers, a color reservoir for printing ink and a paint metering device with at least one electrically controllable valve Dosage of the printing ink contains.
- the invention also relates to a method for Supply of a printing press with printing ink.
- FIG. 7 A conventional inking unit for an offset printing press is shown in FIG. 7.
- the Inking unit contains an ink fountain 122 as a reservoir for printing ink 124, one Ink roller 126, an ink lifter 128, and a roller assembly used in this example four distribution cylinders 130a to 130d, four inking rollers 132 on a plate cylinder Roll 134 of the printing machine, and contains a number of ink transfer rollers 136.
- the need for printing ink 124 is thereby zoned set that a resilient knife (color knife) more or less strongly against the Ink duct 126 is pressed and so the amount of ink is changed by the gap passes between the ink knife and the ink duct 126.
- the regulation of Printing ink 124 over the entire width of the ink duct 126 is made by a Change of the ink take-off strip, which by the ink lifter 128 in one rhythmic pendulum movement is taken from the ink duct 126.
- the printing ink 124 is distributed several times, split and by an axial Movement of the distribution cylinder 130a to 130d rubbed before using the Ink application rollers 132 is applied to the plate cylinder 134.
- the invention has for its object to provide an inking unit that an extreme precise color dosing that is simple and space-saving and that derived from a conventional inking unit through simple design changes can be.
- This object is achieved according to the invention in a generic inking unit by a high-pressure pumping device for supplying the ink metering device Ink under a predetermined high pressure from the ink reservoir, one Heater for heating the ink to a predetermined temperature above room temperature, and in that the at least one valve of the Color metering device a short response time and a low viscosity dependence has its permeability.
- An inventive method for supplying a Printing machine with printing ink is specified in claim 8.
- the inking unit according to the invention enables the use of a standard offset printing ink, the one at room temperature and low shear rate dynamic viscosity of more than 10 Pa s, e.g. 50 to 70 Pa s.
- the at least one valve under a pressure in the range of approximately 10 up to 100 bar and at a temperature in the range of about 40 to 70 ° C. is heated, the viscosity decreases to the extent that in connection with a sufficient short response time of the valve a high-precision color metering is possible.
- a suitable valve construction can ensure that the flow rate of the valve depends as little as possible on the viscosity, so that the desired paint dose due to possible inhomogeneities in the printing ink or due to temperature fluctuations how is not affected.
- the at least one valve is preferably a valve with piezoelectric actuators as adjustment elements, a so-called piezo valve.
- a valve e.g. in the DE-A-4 220 177 has reaction times of the order of magnitude Microseconds. It can be opened and closed many times faster are called conventional solenoid valves, the response times of several Have milliseconds. This enables very fine dosing of the printing ink, preferably by fully opening and closing the Valve or alternatively by regulating the flow rate of a valve, the Degree of opening is controlled by a fast control loop.
- Color dosing using piezoelectric actuators is the technology of inkjet printers known per se.
- Inkjet printers spray low viscosity paint usually directly on paper, and one of the known techniques uses color dosed by placing a small volume of ink briefly through a piezoelectric Actuator is compressed, whereby a droplet of printing ink is sprayed onto a pixel becomes.
- the invention can use relatively high-viscosity offset printing ink are used, and the compressed and heated ink is already under a sufficiently high pressure for spraying paint, so that it only by means of the piezo valve still needs to be dosed.
- a preferred valve design for a viscosity independent as possible Color metering is a valve with a spherical closure element that a opposite spherical recessed valve seat, in which an opening with a much smaller diameter than the spherical closure element is formed.
- a nozzle downstream of the valve determines the volume flow. This can Nozzle have a very short flow channel, whereby the mode of operation of one Aperture corresponds.
- the color metering device contains a number of Nozzles aimed at the surface of one of the distribution cylinders.
- the distribution cylinder moves back and forth in the machine cycle along its longitudinal axis, so that the Ink is rubbed sideways.
- pulse length controlled opening and When closing the at least one valve make sure that the paint spraying is not synchronous to the machine cycle or the friction movement, which is an inhomogeneous Color profile would result.
- the applied layer of paint can be evened out achieve, for example, that the time of color application at each Frater stroke or is slightly shifted in time with each grater rotation, for example by time Modulation of the valve control pulses.
- the invention is suitable for both conventional offset printing machines (sheet and Web presses) with ink zones as well as for zoneless inking units.
- a valve is provided for each color zone Output is connected to one or more nozzles that are in this color zone. ever the more nozzles there are per color zone, the more uniform the thickness of the applied layer of paint. If with variable timing on a distribution cylinder is sprayed, as described above, with a single nozzle per color zone achieve sufficiently even color distribution.
- the color reservoir can e.g. be a color cartridge that is in a pressure vessel is located and which is connected to the at least one valve via a pressure line.
- the paint is pressurized by pressurizing the inside of the pressure vessel is set.
- the pressure required can be easily calculated from the in generate existing compressed air at a printing company.
- An alternative to Ink supply using cartridges is a supply from loose containers, e.g. the in the Technology known ink supply via the barrel, in which no cartridge change necessary is.
- the inking unit according to the invention enables such a precise and uniform ink metering that you with much less ink rollers than before gets along.
- conventional assemblies such as ink fountain and ductor saved. No special components are required for the remaining part of the inking unit, it can be conventional components, especially conventional ink rollers be used. As a result, a conventional inking unit can easily become one inking unit according to the invention can be converted.
- the high-precision ink metering according to the invention allows the printing ink dispense excess according to their needs in the printing press, so that on any doctor device can be dispensed with. Will still with a certain Color excess worked and a doctor device is used accordingly, so the amount of ink to be scraped off can be significantly less.
- a piezo valve 2 which is shown in longitudinal section in FIG. 1, contains a base body 4 with an L-shaped cross-section. On the shorter leg of the base body 4 are based two piezoelectric translators 6, each consisting of a stack of piezoceramic plates consist. The piezoelectric translators 6 extend parallel to the longer one Leg of the base body 4 up to a tapered operating lever 8. Das blunt end of the actuating lever 8 is by means of a screw 10 which is between the extends two piezoelectric translators 6 and parallel to it, with the shorter one Bolted legs of the base body 4, whereby the two piezoelectric translators 6 between the shorter leg of the base body 4 and the actuating lever 8 can be firmly biased.
- An actuating rod 12 extends across the pointed end of the actuating lever 8, which is attached to the actuating lever 8 by means of press tension.
- the operating rod 12 extends through a suitable hole in the longer leg of the base body 4 to into a channel 14 formed therein.
- the Actuating rod 12 has a valve ball 16.
- the base body On the one facing away from the actuating rod 12
- the base body On the side of the valve ball 16, the base body contains a nozzle 18 with an opening 20 which has a smaller diameter than the valve ball 16. When closed closes the valve ball 16, the opening 20, and stands when the valve ball 16 is raised the channel 14 communicates with the outside via the narrow opening 20.
- the channel 14 carries a printing ink which is heated to approximately 40 to 70 ° C and under one Pressure of e.g. Is 40 bar.
- the ink is a standard offset ink with a Viscosity of e.g. 50 to 70 Pa s at room temperature, which is strong by heating is reduced. This, as well as the relatively high pressure, enable the printing ink to be finely dosed by means of the piezo valve 2 and subsequently from one or more Spray nozzles.
- the piezo valve 2 shown in Fig. 1 operates as follows. If at the two piezoelectric translators 6 counter-polar electrical voltages are applied, one of the two piezoelectric translators 6 expands a little while the other shortened a little. As a result, the actuating lever 8 tilts in the direction of the longer legs of the base body 4 or away, depending on the voltage applied.
- the stretching or shortening of the individual piezoelectric translators 6 is indeed very small, but at the top of the operating lever 8 you achieve a stroke in the Order of magnitude of a few hundred micrometers. Accordingly, the valve ball 16 moves, and depending on the position of the valve ball 16, the opening 20 in the nozzle 18th either closed or kept more or less open.
- the flow rate of the piezo valve 2 is controlled by alternately completely closed and fully opened, the length of electrical control pulses during which the valve ball 16 a defined Open position is changed.
- defined means that the valve 2 opens sufficiently wide so that the flow resistance at the outlet opening 20 is significantly greater than the remaining flow resistance at the sealing seat.
- the Outlet opening 20 is designed according to an aperture 18, that is, the Nozzle channel is designed short compared to its diameter.
- An aperture 18 is characterized in that the flow rate is independent of viscosity. Now you stop the pressure in the device is constant, the flow is exclusively time-dependent.
- FIG. 2 shows an arrangement of several piezo valves 2 according to section II from FIG. 1 side by side.
- the piezo valves 2 have a common base body 4 and are supplied with printing ink via a common channel 14.
- the valve bar of Fig. 2 is longitudinally close to the surface of a
- the distribution cylinder 38 is arranged, as can be seen from FIG. 2 together with FIG. 3.
- the nozzles 18 of the piezo valves spray 2 small dabs of paint 74 in operation on the rotating distribution cylinder 38.
- the distribution cylinder 38 moves along its axis during operation, so that the ink blots 74 in Form of serpentine lines on the distribution cylinder 38 are distributed.
- a piezo valve 2 is provided for each color zone, so that the printing ink depending on the current need in the respective color zone can be dosed finely.
- Fig. 4 shows the components of a paint supply for a schematically illustrated piezo valve 34, which in this example contains a single nozzle 36, which hits the surface a distribution cylinder 38 of the inking unit is directed.
- An embodiment for a piezo valve with multiple nozzles is described below.
- the distribution cylinder 38 moves back and forth in its axial direction by approx. 35 mm, as it rotates as indicated by arrows. With the nozzle 36 one thus achieves one axial section 40 on the distribution cylinder 38, which is slightly wider than the width of a Color zone is 32 mm.
- Another piezo valve is used for the other ink zones 34 provided (not shown in Fig. 4).
- the paint supply shown in Fig. 4 supplies not only the one piezo valve 34 shown, but all the piezo valves 34 that are for the printing width of the printing press are required, for example a valve bar as in FIG. 2 shown.
- a pressure intensifier 42 receives compressed air of approximately 6 to 8 bar via a pressure line 44, how it is available for operating a printing press, and generates from it Compressed air at approx. 40 bar, which is fed to a pressure vessel 48 via a further pressure line 46 is fed.
- the pressure vessel 48 contains a base 50 through which the pressure line 46 and an ink outlet line 52 extend, and a bell 53 which can be screwed on in a pressure-tight manner.
- Inside the pressure vessel 48 there is a color cartridge 54, which with the Ink outlet line 52 is connected.
- the color cartridge 54 is open at the top or sealed with a movable stamp so that the pressure inside the pressure vessel 48 drives the printing ink from the ink cartridge 54 into the ink outlet line 52.
- the fill level of the printing ink within the ink cartridge 54 is checked by a fill level sensor 56 monitors, which is connected via a cable to sensor electronics 58 connected to a Central printing press control, not shown, issues a warning signal when the Contents of the color cartridge 54 tends to end.
- a continuous ink supply from one loose containers can be used for example a barrel by means of a barrel pump.
- Suitable barrel pumps are commercially available in various forms.
- the operating compressed air of the printing press is also fed to a tank 60 which contains a cleaning fluid to pressurize the cleaning fluid.
- a cartridge with cleaning fluid can alternatively be used be put under pressure.
- An outlet line of the tank 60 can be via a Three-way valve 62 optionally with a line piece 63 or with an outlet 64 get connected.
- An inlet line 66 of the piezo valve 34 can be via another Three-way valve 68 either with the paint outlet line 52 or with the line piece 63 get connected.
- the three-way valve 68 is in the drawn position, in which the inlet line 66 of the piezo valve 34 with the Ink outlet line 52 is connected.
- the three-way cocks 62 and 68 are used for cleaning set so that the cleaning fluid through the piezo valve 34 or through the Valve bar can flow.
- the cleaning of the piezo valve 34 or the piezo valves required when the color changes 94 can also advantageously be used to spray the Ink rollers with cleaning liquid. So there is a possibility that the previously required spray device for washing liquid for cleaning the Inking unit is omitted.
- the corresponding advantages are that at the same time Use of the piezo valve 34 for the metering of printing ink and washing liquid less costs and less space are required.
- the piezo valves 34 automatically result in spraying of the Distribution cylinder 38 with washing liquid. This then takes place via this distribution cylinder 38 Distribution of the washing liquid throughout the inking unit. To with washing operations, which then if no color change is associated with this, the additional consumption of The three-way valve 68 is to be kept close to the piezo valve to keep the printing ink low 34 advantageous. In other cases, the ink can be sucked back beforehand from the line system 14, 66 into the color cartridge 54 or a corresponding one Storage containers are made. Then the cleaning of the piezo valve 34 and then the entire inking unit.
- the inlet line 66 of the piezo valve 34 passes through a schematically shown Preheater 70, which the pressurized ink from the Color cartridge 54 heated to a temperature of up to 65 ° C.
- the piezo valve 34 contains a heater, not shown, that keeps it at the same temperature so that the Ink does not cool in it.
- the piezo valve 34 is controlled by a valve control unit 72 which is connected to the central Press control is connected, controlled by square pulses, which the Piezo valve 34 open for the duration of each pulse while it is in the rest of the time closed is.
- the short response time of the piezo valve 34 enables the pulses to follow one another very quickly, e.g. with a frequency of 3 kHz, and the Apply printing ink finely distributed to the distribution cylinder 38.
- the nozzle 36 of the Piezo valve 34 tiny spots of paint 74 on the rotating distribution cylinder 38, as in FIG. 4 schematically indicated, while a long rectangular pulse a more or less long Line generated on the distribution cylinder 38. Because of the axial movement of the distribution cylinder 38 the blots 74 not only in the radial direction, but also in the axial direction distributed on the distribution cylinder 38.
- the amount of ink applied to the distribution cylinder is adjusted by the Duration of the rectangular pulses is set during which the piezo valve 34 is open and the nozzle 36 injects ink onto the distribution cylinder 38.
- Fig. 5 is a view similar to Figs. 2 and 3 of a piezo valve 2 which is the printing ink does not spray directly onto the distribution cylinder 38, but rather a distributor attachment 116 which e.g. can be a one-piece or multi-part molded plastic part.
- the Manifold 116 contains a channel 118 in the form of an inverted "T", the Middle part is connected to the opening 20 in the nozzle 18 of the piezo valve 2 and its transverse portion includes four nozzles 120 arranged in a row.
- the multiple nozzle formed enables a single piezo valve 2 to actuate the distribution cylinder 38 spread over the width of an entire ink zone with finely divided printing ink, as through the color blots 74 displayed. In the case of a zonal inking system with or without Such a multiple nozzle can even spread across the entire printing width extend so that you can get by with a single piezo valve.
- FIG. 6 shows an inking unit which is derived from a conventional inking unit as in FIG. 7 by removing the ink fountain 122, ink fountain pen 126 and ink lifter 128.
- a piezo valve 94 or a corresponding one Valve strip with several piezo valves 94 arranged so that on the distribution cylinder 130a is injected.
- those in FIG. 6 are also omitted dash-dotted parts, and the piezo valves 94 are not on the distribution cylinder 130a, but arranged on the distribution cylinder 130b.
- an inking unit with much less for practical use moving parts can be manufactured as a conventional inking unit that also enables uniform and extremely precise color dosing. That is it still possible to dose the printing ink without excess and thus to a To dispense with the doctor blade device, as is the case with conventional offset inking units Sheet or roll machines needed. Since there is no mechanical wear in the Color dosing range there, the color dosing is very reproducible. Furthermore, the Cleaning the inking unit made easier.
