Definitions
- the invention relates to a cap rivet for a rod spring eyelet for waterproof Connection with a surface material by riveting, in which Facing surface material, an elastically deformable sealing element held that at least partially surrounds the rivet shank.
- Subject of the invention is also a method of connecting such a cap rivet through water-impermeable surface material through with a rod spring eyelet Rivet.
- the sealing element in the cap rivet is used for sealing prefabricated component used and the cap rivets and the rod spring eyelet of riveting tools so moved against each other that the hollow rivet shaft penetrates the surface material and the sealing element deforms is pressed against the surface material during the riveting process.
- Such cap rivets for rod spring eyelets are known. You put one Part of a push button connection, the other part as a ball to the so corresponding rod spring eye is formed, the ball and the eyelet can be locked together.
- the known push buttons are used to connect two surface materials, for example the fabric from breathable, rainproof sports or rainwear together. The waterproofness of such clothing is thereby achieved that a membrane is worked into the fabric, which allows water vapor to pass from the inside to the outside inside it blocks rain.
- Such membranes can for example consist of Teflon exist.
- a waterproof, breathable surface material is waterproof not guaranteed or only with great sealing effort and thus high cost to manufacture.
- a annular adhesive layer between the adjacent to the surface material Bottom of the cap and the sheet material around the puncture point in the Arrange sheet material around, the adhesive layer being a sealing Connection between the underside of the cap and the sheet material is made.
- the adhesive layer can also be a separate O-shaped ring that is on the rivet shaft can be pushed on.
- the ring-shaped adhesive layer is disadvantageous or the O-ring that the sealing effect of today's requirements no longer meets or additional thermal treatments to liquefy it the ring-shaped adhesive layer and to increase it Sealing effect after cooling are required.
- the invention has for its object to provide a cap rivet for a rod spring eye, which ensures a watertight connection with a surface material under pressure test criteria with at least 0.2 bar for at least 2 minutes, is structurally simple in construction and can be used without complex additional processing operations .
- the sealing element the face material facing the face of the rivet shaft engages that the sealing element has an annular groove on the end face coaxial to the rivet shaft, which in case of assembly with the ring edge forming the opening of the bar spring eye is aligned, and that the annular groove is concentric with a molded ring projection is surrounded as a pressing surface on the end face, which works together in assembly with the opposite faces of the bar spring Prestressed and fixed surface material.
- the sealing element By an extraordinarily simple Design of the sealing element is with the above inventive features achieved in combination that the ring edge of the rivet shaft opening none perforated effect on the surface material that the coaxial to it arranged end ring groove during assembly prevents that Surface material with the sensitive membrane through the pointed edge of the Damage to the opening of the rod spring eye and thus impaired the seal is, at the same time the provided as a pressing surface the annular projection Jamming of the surface material between the cap rivet and the bar spring eye serves for fixation and preload.
- the actual punching process takes place through the riveting tool, which has only the smallest opening diameter punched free according to the width of the high rivet shank while doing so additional edge areas of the surface material to achieve a seal provides in connection with the sealing element.
- the sealing element preferably engages over the end face of the rivet shaft cap-like to improve the protective effect.
- the rivet shaft passes at right angles into the rivet head and is the sealing element Funnel-shaped on the rivet shaft to create a free space.
- the front Contour of the sealing element is funnel-shaped in parallel, wherein in a ring reinforcement, projecting on the end face, is provided on the outer edge region is, so that practically the entire diameter of the Sealing element comes to rest flat on the surface material.
- the sealing effect is due to the flat systems at the top and bottom as well as those in the forming process achieved bias of the sealing element is extraordinary increased compared to the prior art.
- an external circumferential can improve the holding effect Edge can be provided on the sealing element, which in the flange the calotte engages.
- the invention is also a method for connecting a cap rivet above type through a water-impermeable sheet material with a Rod spring eye proposed by riveting, which according to the invention thereby is characterized in that the sheet material before the penetration of the Rivet shaft by means of corresponding surfaces on the sealing element of the Cap rivets and on the bar spring eye during the movement against each other biased and positioned and fixed in position, and that only then with the further movement of the riveting tools against each other the perforation of the sheet material is made by this, under Maintaining the fixation of the surface material the deformation of the Sealing element and riveting is carried out.
- this connection process is - unlike puncturing flat material and Sealing material through the ring-shaped rivet edges themselves - , a significantly improved sealing effect achieved in a simple manner.
- FIG. 1 of the drawing A preferred embodiment of a cap rivet according to the invention is shown in Fig. 1 of the drawing is shown in an exploded view.
- the cap rivet 1 accordingly consists of an actual rivet part 2, which consists of a flat, circular sheet metal flange 3, the rivet head, and one this downwardly protruding hollow rivet shaft 4 is made in one piece.
- the hollow rivet shaft 4 ends at the front bottom with an opening 5 through a, sometimes relatively sharp, ring edge 6 is delimited.
- the rivet head 3 will covered from above by a cap 7 from a sheet metal part, the free Ring edge 8 can be flanged to hold the rivet part 2.
- the cap rivet 1 is provided as a structural unit with a sealing element 10 which consists of a disc-shaped, one-piece molded plastic part, which is pushed onto the hollow rivet shaft 4 and rests on the rivet head 3, as this is illustrated by the representation of the structural unit according to FIG. 2.
- the Plastic material is resilient and is used in further assembly - as described below - intensely deformed for an optimal sealing effect to develop against water penetration.
- the sealing element 10 has a special shape to the desired To achieve properties. It is essential that the hollow rivet shaft 4th completely overlapped by the sealing element 10 on the end face according to the exemplary embodiment is by a cap-like cover 11, which is a thin-walled hat body is integrally formed on the sealing element 10 and the opening 5 and the ring edge 6 of the hollow rivet shaft 4 is completely covered (see FIG. 2). It In this way, a protective surface is created which is premature in the assembly process Tearing of the membrane in the surface material F prevents which the cap rivet is connected.
- the sealing element 10 has an annular groove which is coaxial with the hollow rivet shaft 4 12 adjacent to the cap-like cover 11.
- the annular groove 12 is on the end face open at the bottom and - as will be described below - contributes the corresponding counter surface of a rod spring eye 20 together with the the cap rivet 1 is connected.
- the annular groove 12 is in turn concentric with an integrally formed ring projection Surround 13, which is integrally formed on the sealing element 10 and provides a pressing surface on the front, which works together in assembly with the opposite surfaces of the rod spring eye 20 Surface material F prestressed and fixed.
- the concentric ring region of the sealing element adjoining this 10 is funnel-shaped, with between the inner, the Hollow rivet shaft 4 adjacent funnel shape 14 and the outer funnel 15 a wall thickness of elastic material is provided which is suitable for the to the hollow rivet shaft 4 free space 16 formed in this way tightly to be filled in when the cap rivet 1 is attached to the flat material F.
- the edge area design of the sealing element is concentric with the outer funnel 15 10 characterized on the outside by a ring reinforcement 17 which in Installation case provides sufficient elastically deformable material, around a flat contact of the sealing element on the one below Ensure surface material F.
- a ring reinforcement 17 which in Installation case provides sufficient elastically deformable material, around a flat contact of the sealing element on the one below Ensure surface material F.
- Edge 18 is closely gripped by the flanged ring edge 8 of the cap 7, so that the individual parts shown in FIG. 1 of the drawing according to FIG. 2 of the drawing represent a component that is easy to handle for further assembly.
- the cap rivet 1 is in its assignment to Surface material F and the bar spring eye 20 as a counterpart schematically in Section shown. There are the cap rivet 1 and the rod spring eyelet 20 in alignment with each other, with the upward oriented opening 19 of the bar spring eye due to its diameter the introduction the hollow rivet shaft 4 of the cap rivet 1 is permitted. That done assembled part in its entirety is shown in Fig. 6 of the drawing in section.
- the rod spring eye 20 represents a sheet metal body which consists of a dome-shaped Eyelet body 21, which is a known double S-spring 22nd encloses and forms a rivet receptacle 23 with opening 19.
- the ball not shown, of a push-button connection locked.
- Fig. 4 and Fig. 5 of the drawing show individual assembly steps as intermediate steps for producing the prefabricated component shown in Fig. 6 of the drawing.
- the cap rivet 1 and the bar spring eyelet 20 moved against each other by riveting tools and come with the intermediate surface material F in contact.
- the surface material F the hollow rivet shaft 4 with its cap-like cover, that means protected against damage, detected and pre-stressed.
- the Biasing is made possible by the fact that the ring edge of the opening 19 of the Bar spring eye in the mutual movement freely in the annular groove 12 of the Sealing element can be introduced and there is initially no abutment finds. This prevents that when hitting the pointed edge Opening the rivet receptacle 23, the waterproof surface material F is damaged. Rather, this becomes, as in particular Fig.
- the sealing element 10 is deformed, which leads to the elastic material being preloaded over a large area both on the top of the rivet head 3 and on the bottom on Surface material F comes to the plant.
- the original free space 16 is completely made of the elastic sealing material of the sealing element 10 filled. This makes it extremely watertight of the overall connection.
