Aralkykest darstellt, und wobei das Endprodukt gemäß eingangs angegebener Formel aufgrund
seiner Wasserlöslichkeit aus dem Reaktionsgemisch isoliert wird.
10. Verwendung von Bis-Stilben-Verbindungen gemäß den Ansprüchen 1 bis 8 zum optischen
Aufhellen von organischen Materialien.
Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft eine Weiterentwicklung des Gegenstandes des Hauptpatentes Nr.
93 482.
Gegenstand der Erfindung des genannten Hauptpatentes sind symmetrisch substituierte Bis-Stilben-Verbindungen
der Formel

Benzolrest und Wi Wasserstoff, Methyl, Methcxy, Chlor
oder die Sulfonsäuregruppe oder deren Salze bedeuten, wobei wenn Ri unsubstituiert ist W, verschieden von

Es wurde nun gefunden, daß eine spezifische Auswahl aus den Verbindungen des Typus gemäß allgemeiner
Formel (I) vorteilhafte Eigenschaften aufweist und besondere praktische Bedeutung zeigt. Diese ausgewählte
Gruppe von Verbindungen ist durch asymmetrische Substitutuion bezüglich der zentralen Gruppierung

Man führt das Herstellungsverfahren vorteilhaft in indifferenten Lösungsmitteln durch. Als Beispiele
hierfür seien Kohlenwasserstoffe wie Toluol und Xylol oder Alkohole wie Methanol, Äthanol, Isopropanol,
Butanol, Glykole, Glykoläther wie 2-Methoxyäthanol, Hexanole, Cyclohexanol und Cyclooctanol, ferner Äther
wie Diisopropyläther, Tetrahydrofuran und Dioxan sowie Dimethylsulfoxyd, Formamid und N-Methylpyrrolidon
genannt. Besonders geeignet sind polare organische Lösungsmittel wie Dimethylformamid und
Dimethylsulfoxid. Auch in wässeriger Lösung lassen sich
einige der Umsetzungen durchführen.
Die Temperatur, bei welche die Umsetzung durchgeführt wird, kann in weiten Grenzen schwanken. Sie wird
bestimmt «
oc) durch die Beständigkeit des verwendeten Lösungsmittels
gegenüber den Reaktionsteilnehmern, insbesondere gegenüber den stark basischen Alkaliverbindungen,
ß) durch die Reaktivität der Kondensationspartner und
γ) durch die Wirksamkeit der Kombination Lösungsmittel-Base
als Kondensationsmittel.
In der Praxis kommen hiernach im allgemeinen v> Temperaturen zwischen etwa 10 und 100°C in Betracht,
insbesondere wenn Dimethylformamid oder Dimethylsulfoxid als Lösungsmittel verwendet werden. Der
Temperatur-Vorzugsbereich liegt bei 20 bis 60° C. Es können jedoch unter Umständen auch höhere Tempera- wi
türen angewandt werden, wenn diese aus Gründen der Zeitersparnis erwünscht ist, oder ein weniger aktives,
dafür aber billigeres Kondensalionsmittcl eingesetzt werden soll: Grundsätzlich sind somit auch Reaktionstemperaturen im Intervall von 10 bis 1800C möglich. br>
Als stark basische Alkaliverbindungen kommen vor allem die Hydroxyde, Amide und Alkoholate (vorzugsweise
solche primärer, 1 bis 4 Kohlenstoffatome umsetzt, wobei Y, M und A" die vorstehend angegebene
Bedeutung haben und Z/ eine Gruppierung der Formeln (13) bis (16) bedeutet, worin R einer
gegebenenfalls substituierten Alkyl-, Cycloalkyl-, Aryl- oder Aralkylrest darstellt.
Eine Variante von besonderer praktischer Bedeutung besteht darin, daß als Diphenylkomponenten gemäß
Formel (10) solche verwendet werden, die der Formel
enthaltender Alkohole) der Alkalimetalle in Betracht wobei aus ökonomischen Gründen solche des Lithiums
Natriums und Kaliums von vorwiegendem Interesse sind. Es können jedoch grundsätzlich und in besonderer
Fällen auch Alkalisulfide und -carbonate, Arylalkaliver bindungen wie Phenyl-lithium, oder stark basische
Amine (einschließlich Ammoniumbasen, z. B. Trialkyl ammoniumhydroxyde) mit Erfolg verwendet werden.
Nach dem vorstehend beschriebenen Verfahrer werden infolge Konkurrenzreaktion der drei Reaktions
partner primär meist Mischungen aus asymmetriscl substituierten Bis-Stilben-Verbindungen gemäß Forme
(1) und den beiden korrespondierenden symmetriscl substituierten Bis-Stilbenen erhalten. Die Trennunj
dieser Komponenten kann aufgrund ihres unterschiedli chen Lösungsverhaltens in Wasser erfolgen.
Die vorstehend definierten Verbindungen besitzen ii
gelöstem oder feinverteiltem Zustande eine mehr ode weniger ausgeprägte Fluoreszenz. Sie können zun
optischen Aufhellen der verschiedensten synthetischer halbsynthetischen oder natürlichen organischen Mate
rialien oder Substanzen, welche solche organischei Materialien enthalten, verwendet werden.
Hierfür seien beispielsweise, ohne daß durch dii nachfolgende Übersicht irgendeine Beschränkung hier
auf ausgedrückt werden soll, die folgenden Gruppei von organischen Materialien, soweit eine optisch
Aufhellung derselben in Betracht kommt, genannt:
I. Synthetische organische hochmolekulare Metaria lien:
a) Polymerisationsprodukte auf Basis mindestens ein polymerisierbare Kohlenstoff-Kohlenstoff-Dop
pelbindung enthaltender organischer Verbindun gen, d. h. deren Homo- oder Copolymerisate sowi
deren Nachbehandlungsprodukte wie Vernel zungs-, Pfropfungs- oder Abbauprodukte, Polyme
risat-Verschnitte, oder durch Modifizierung reak tionsfähiger Gruppen erhaltene Produkte, be
spielsweise Polymerisate auf Basis von <x,j3-ungesäl
tigten Carbonsäure oder Derivaten solcher Carbonsäuren, insbesondere von Acrylverbindungen
(wie Acrylestern, Acrylsäure, Acrylnitril, Acrylamiden
und deren Derivaten oder deren Methacryl-Analoga), Polymerisate auf Basis von Vinyl-
und Vinyliden-Verbindungen (wie Vinylalkohol),
b) Polymerisationsprodukte, die z. B. durch Ringöffnung erhältlich sind, z. B. Polyamide vom Polycaprolactam-Typ,
ferner Polymere die sowohl über Polyaddition als auch Polykondensation erhältlich
sind wie Polyäther oder Polyacetale,
c) Polykondensationsprodukte oder Vorkondensate auf Basis bi- oder polyfunktioneller Verbindungen
mit kondensationsfähigen Gruppen, deren Homo- und Mischkondensationsprodukte sowie Produkte
der Nachbehandlung, wie Polyamide (z. B. Hexamethylendiaminadipat),
Maleinatharze, Melaminharze, deren Vorkondensate und Analoga, Polycarbonate,
Silikone,
d) Polyadditionsprodukte wie Polyurethane (vernetzt und unvernetzt), Epoxidharze.
II. Halbsynthetische organische Materialien wie Celluloseester verschiedener Veresterungsgrade (Acetat,
Triacetat) oder Celluloseäther, regenerierte Cellulose (Viskose, Kupferammoniak-Cellulose) oder deren
Nachbehandlungsprodukte, Casein-Kunststoffe.
IiI. Natürliche organische Materialien animalischen oder vegetabilischen Ursprungs, beispielsweise auf
Basis von Cellulose oder Proteinen, wie Baumwolle, Wolle, Leinen, Seide, natürliche Lackharze, Stärke
Casein.
Die optisch aufzuhellenden organischen Materialien können den verschiedenartigsten Verarbeitungszuständen
(Rohstoffe, Halbfabrikate oder Fertigfabrikate) angehören. Sie können andererseits in Form der
verschiedenartigsten geformten Gebilde vorliegen, d. h. beispielsweise als vorwiegend dreidimensional ausgedehnte
Körper wie Platten, Profile, Spritzgußformlinge, verschiedenartige Werkstücke, Schnitzel, Granulate
oder Schaumstoffe, ferner als vorwiegend zweidimensjonal ausgebildete Körper wie Filme, Folien, Lacke
Überzüge, Imprägnierungen und Beschichtungen oder als vorwiegend eindimensional ausgebildete Körper wie
Fäden, Fasern, Flocken, Drähte. Die besagten Materialien können andererseits auch in ungeformten Zuständen
in den verschiedenartigsten homogenen oder inhomogenen Verteilungsformen z. B. als Pulver, Lösungen,
Emulsionen, Dispersionen, Latices, Pasten oder Wachse vorliegen.
Fasermaterialien können beispielsweise als endlose Fäden (verstreckt oder unverstreckt), Stapelfasern,
Flocken, Strangware, textile Fäden, Garne, Zwirne, Faservliese, Filze, Watten, Beflockungs-Gebilde oder als
textile Gewebe oder textile Verbundstoffe, Gewirke sowie als Papiere, Pappen oder Papiermassen usw.
vorliegen.
Den erfindungsgemäS anzuwendenden Verbindungen kommt u. a. Bedeutung für die Behandlung von
textlien organischen Materialien, insbesondere textlien Geweben, zu. Sofern Fasern, welche als Stapelfasern
oder Endlosfäden, in Form von Strängen, Geweben, Gewirken, Vliesen, beflockten Substraten oder Verbundstoffen
vorliegen können, erfindungsgemäß optisch aufzuhellen sind, geschieht dies mit Vorteil in wässerigem
Medium, worin die betreffenden Verbindungen in feinverteiltcr Form (Suspensionen, gegebenenfalls Lösungen)
vorliegen. Gegebenenfalls können bei der
Behandlung Dispergier-, Stabilisier-, Netz- und weitere Hilfsmittel zugesetzt werden. In Abhängigkeit vom
verwendeten Aufheller-Verbindungstyp kann es sich als vorteilhaft erweisen, vorzugsweise in neutralem oder
alkalischem oder saurem Bade zu arbeiten. Die Behandlung wird üblicherweise bei Temperaturen von
etwa 20 bis 140°C, beispielsweise bei Siedetemperatur des Bades oder in deren Nähe (etwa 900C), durchgeführt.
Für die erfindungsgemäße Veredlung textiler Substrate kommen auch Lösungen oder Emulsionen in
organischen Lösungsmitteln in Betracht, wie dies in der Färbereipraxis in der sogenannten Lösungsmittelfärberei
(Foulard-Thermofixierapplikation, Ausziehfärbeverfahren in Färbemaschinen) praktiziert wird.
Die erfindungsgemäßen optischen Aufhellmittel können ferner den Materialien vor oder während deren
Verformung zugesetzt bzw. einverleibt werden. So kann man sie beispielsweise bei der Herstellung von Filmen,
Folien oder Formkörpern der Preßmasse oder Spritzgußmasse beifügen.
Sofern die Formgebung voll- oder halbsynthetischer organischer Materialien durch Spinnverfahren bzw.
über Spinnmassen erfolgt, können die optischen Aufheller nach folgenden Verfahren appiiziert werden:
— Zugabe zu den Ausgangssubstanzen (ζ. Β. Monomeren)
oder Zwischenprodukten (ζ. Β. Vorkondensaten, Praepolymeren), d. h. vor oder während der
Polymerisation. Polykondensation oder Polyaddition,
— Aufpudern auf Polymerisatschnitzel oder Granulate für Spinnmassen.
— Badfärbung von Polymerisatschnitzeln oder Granulaten für Spinnmassen,
— Dosierte Zugabe zu Spinnschmelzen oder Spinnlö- i} sungen,
— Applikation auf Spinnkabel vor dem Verstrecken.
Die erfindungsgemäßen optischen Aufhellmittel können beispielsweise auch in folgenden Anwendungsformen
eingesetzt werden:
a) in Mischungen mit Farbstoffen (Nuancierung) oder Pigmenten (z. B. Weißpigrr.enten) oder als Zusatz
zu Färbebädern, Druck-, Ätz- oder Reservepasten.
4) Ferner auch zur Nachbehandlung von Färbungen,
Drucken oder Ätzdrucken,
b) in Mischungen mit sogenannten »Carriern«, Netzmitteln, Weichmacher, Quellmitteln, Antioxydantien,
Lichtschutzmitteln, Hitzestabilisatoren, chemi-
w sehen Bleichmitteln (Bleichbäder-Zusätze),
c) in Mischungen mit Vernetzern, Appreturmitteln (z. B. Stärke oder synthetischen Appreturen) sowie
in Kombination mit den verschiedensten Textilveredlungsverfahren, insbesondere Kunstharzausrüstungen
(z. B. Knitterfcst-Ausrüstungen wie »Wash-and-wear«, »permanent-press«, »no-iron«),
ferner Flammfest-, Weichgriff- oder Antistatisch-Ausrüstungen oder antimikrobielle Ausrüstungen,
d) Einarbeiten der optischen Aufhellmittel in polyme-W)
rc Trägermaterialien (Polymerisations-, Polykondensation- oder Polyadditionsprodukten) in gelöster
oder dispergierter Form für Anwendung z. B. in Beschichtungs-, Imprägnier- oder Bindemitteln
(Lösungen, Dispersionen, Emulsionen) für Textilien,
μ Vliese, Papier, Leder,
c) als Zusätze zu sog. »master batches«,
f) als Zusätze zu den verschiedensten industriellen Produkten, um dieselben marktfähiger zu machen
f) als Zusätze zu den verschiedensten industriellen Produkten, um dieselben marktfähiger zu machen
(ζ. B. Aspektverbesserung von Seifen, Waschmitteln, Pigmenten etc.),
g) in Kombination mit anderen, optisch aufhellend wirkenden Substanzen,
h) in Spinnbadpräparationen, d. h. als Zusätze zu Spinnbädern, wie sie zur Gleitfähigkeitsverbesserung
für die Weiterverarbeitung von Synthese-Fasern verwendet werden, oder aus einem speziellen
Bad vor der Veresterung der Faser,
i) als Scintillatoren, für verschiedene Zwecke photographischer Art, z. B. für elektrophotografische
Reproduktion oder Supfersensibilisierung.
Wird das Aufhellverfahren mit Textil-Behandlungs- oder Veredlungsmethoden kombiniert, so kann die
kombinierte Behandlung in vielen Fällen vorteilhafterweise mit Hilfe entsprechender beständiger Präparate
erfolgen, welche die optisch aufhellenden Verbindungen in solcher Konzentration enthalten, daß der gewünschte
Aufhelleffekt erreicht wird.
In gewissen Fällen werden die Aufheller durch eine Nachbehandlung zur vollen Wirkung gebracht. Diese
kann beispielsweise eine chemische (z. B. Säure-Behandlung), eine thermische (z. B. Hitze oder eine
kombinierte chemisch/thermische Behandlung darstel-Ien. So verfährt man beispielsweise bei den optischen
Aufhellern einer Reihe von Fasersubstraten, mit den erfindungsgemäßen Aufhellern zweckmäßig in der
Weise, daß man diese Fasern mit den wässerigen Dispersionen bzw. Lösungen der Aufhellmittel bei jo
Temperaturen unter 75°C, z. B. bei Raumtemperatur, imprägniert und einer trockenen Wärmebehandlung bei
Temperaturen über 1000C unterwirft, wobei es sich im allgemeinen empfiehlt, das Fasermaterial vorher noch
bei mäßig erhöhter Temperatur, z. B. bei mindestens 6O0C bis etwa 130°C zu trocknen. Die Wärmebehandlung
in trockenem Zustande erfolgt dann vorteilhaft bei Temperaturen zwischen 120 und 2000C, beispielsweise
durch Erwärmen in einer Trockenkammer, durch Bügeln im angegebenen Temperaturintervall oder auch
durch Behandeln mit trockenem, überhitztem Wasserdampf. Die Trocknung und trockene Wärmebehandlung
können auch unmittelbar nacheinander ausgeführt oder in einen einzigen Arbeitsgang zusammengelegt werden.
Die Menge der erfindungsgemäß zu verwendenden optischen Aufheller, bezogen auf das optisch aufzuhellende
Material, kann in weiten Grenzen schwanken. Schon mit sehr geringen Mengen, in gewissen Fällen
z. B. solchen von 0,0001 Gewichtsprozent, kann ein deutlicher und haltbarer Effekt erzielt werden. Es
können aber auch Mengen bis zu etwa 0,8 Gewichtsprozent und mehr zur Anwendung gelangen. Für die
meisten praktischen Belange sind vorzugsweise Mengen zwischen 0,0005 und 0,5 Gewichtsprozent von
Interesse.
Die erfindungsgemäßen optischen Aufhellmittel eignen sich auch besonders als Zusätze für Waschbäder
oder zu Gewerbe- und Haushaltwaschmitteln, wobei sie in verschiedener Weise zugesetzt werden können. Zu
Waschbädern werden sie zweckmäßig in Form ihrer mi Lösungen in Wasser oder organischen Lösungsmitteln
oder auch in feiner Verteilung als wässerige Dispersionen zugegeben. Zu Haushalt- oder gewerblichen
Waschmitteln werden sie vorteilhaft in irgend einer Phase des Herstellungsprozesses der Waschmittel, z. B. b5
der sog. »slurry« vor dem Zerstäuben dem Waschpulver oder bei der Vorbereitung flüssiger Waschmittelkombinationen
zugesetzt. Die Zugabe kann sowohl in Form einer Lösung oder Dispersion in Wasser oder anderen
Lösungsmitteln als auch ohne Hilfsmittel als trockenes Aufhellpulver erfolgen. Man kann die Aufhellmittel
beispielsweise mit den waschaktiven Substanzen vermisehen, verkneten oder vermählen und so dem fertigen
Waschpulver zumischen. Sie können jedoch auch gelöst oder vordispergiert auf das fertige Waschmittel
aufgesprüht werden.
Als Waschmittel kommen die bekannten Mischungen von Waschaktivsubstanzen wie Seife in Form von
Schnitzeln und Pulver, Syndet (lösliche Salze von Sulfonaten höherer Feitalkohole), höher und/oder
mehrfach alkylsubstituierten Arylsulfonsäuren, Sulfocarbonsäureestern
mittlerer bis höherer Alkohole, Fettsäureacylaminoalkyl- oder-aminoarylglycerinsulfonate,
Phosphorsäureester von Fettalkoholen usf. in Frage. Als Aufbaustoffe, sog. »Builders«, kommen z. B.
Alkalipoly- und -polymetaphosphate, Alkalipyrophosphate, Alkalisalze der Carboxymethylcellulose und
andere Soilredepositionsinhibitoren, ferner Alkalisilikate, Alkalicarbonate, Alkaliborate, Alkaliperborate, Nitrilotriessigsäure,
Äthylendiaminotetraessigsäure, Schaumstabilisatoren wie Alkanolamide höherer Fettsäuren,
in Betracht. Weiter können darin enthalten sein: antistatische Mittel, rückfettende Hautschutzmittel wie
Lanolin, ferner Enzyme, Antimikrobika, Parfüme und Farbstoffe.
Diese optischen Aufheller haben den besonderen Von eil, daß sie auch bei Gegenwart von Aktivchlor-Spendern,
wie Hypochlorit, wirksam sind und ohne wesentliche Einbuße der Effekte in Waschbädern mit
nichtionogenen Waschmitteln, z. B. Alkylphenolpolyglykoläthern, verwendet werden können.
Die erfindungsgemäßen Verbindungen werden in Mengen von 0,005—1% oder mehr, bezogen auf das
Gewicht des flüssigen oder piiverförmigen, fertigen
Waschmittels, zugesetzt. Waschflotten, die die angegebenen Mengen der beanspruchten optischen Aufheller
enthalten, verleihen beim Waschen von Textilien aus Cellulosefasern, Polyamidfasern oder hochveredelten
Cellulosefasern einen brillanten Aspekt am Tageslicht.
Die Waschbehandlung wird beispielsweise wie folgt durchgeführt:
Die angegebenen Textilien werden während 1 bis 30 Minuten bei 20 bis 100°C in einem Waschbad behandelt,
das 1 bis 10 g/kg eines aufgebauten, zusammengesetzten Waschmittels und 0,05 bis 1%, bezogen auf dasWaschmittelgewicht,
der beanspruchten Aufhellmittel enthält. Das Flottenverhältnis kann 1:3 bis 1 :50 betragen.
Nach dem Waschen wird wie üblich gespült und getrocknet. Das Waschbad kann als Bleichzusatz 0,2 g/l
Aktivchlor (z. B. als Hypochlorit) oder 0,1 bis 2 g/l Natriumperborat enthalten.
Es ist im Rahmen der Erfindung auch ohne weiteres möglich — je nach den speziellen anwendungstechnischen
Forderungen — die beschriebenen Verbindungen in Mischung mit den aus der Konkurrenzreaktion der
Herstellung erhältlichen symmetrisch gebauten korrespondierenden Verbindungen zum Zwecke der optischen
Aufhellung einzusetzen. Dies bedeutet, daß in der applikatorischen Praxis — je nach Anwendungszweck
— auf eine Trennung der konkurrierenden Reaktionsprodukte auch verzichtet werden kann. Gegebenenfalls
kann die symmetrische wasserunlösliche Verbindung abgetrennt werden, während die wasserlöslichen Verbindungen
in Mischung zum Zwecke der optischen Aufhellung eingesetzt werden.

werden, daß pro Moläqnivalent der eingesetzten bifunktionellen Reaktionskomponente total etwa zwei
Moläquivalente monofunktionelle Reaktionskomponten eingesetzt werden, wobei das Verhältnis von
sulfongruppenhaltiger Komponente zu sulfongruppenfreier
Komponente etwa im moiaren Verhältnis zwischen 1 :1 und 10:1 liegen kann.
In den Beispielen sind Teile, soweit nicht anders angegeben, immer Gewichtsteile und Prozente immer
Gewichtsprozente. Schmelz- und Siedepunkte sind, sofern nicht anders vermerkt, unkorrigiert.
Zur einer gut gerührten Suspension von 49,2 g Kaliumhydroxydpulver (etwa 91°/oig) in 200 ml wasserfreiem
Dimethylformamid wird unter Verdrängung der Luft durch Stickstoff eine Mischung von 45,5 g
4,4'-Bis-(diäthoxy-phosphonomethyl)-diphenyl, 14,1 g 2-Chlorbenzaldehyd und 21,2 g Natriumsalz der Benzaldehyd-2-sulfonsäure
(mit einem Gehalt entsprechend etwa 88% freier Sulfonsäure) in 150 ml Dimethylformamid
eingetragen. Die Temperatur steigt auf 45°C an· und wird durch Eiskühlung bei 40 bis 45°C gehalten.
Dann wird noch während 2 Stunden bei 40 bis 45°C nachgerührt. Man gießt das Reaktionsgemisch auf 2,5 I
destilliertes Wasser von etwa 700C. Zur entstandenen, trüben Lösung gibt man etwa 1 kg Eis, wobei die
Temperatur der blaBgelben Suspension auf etwa 25° C fällt. Durch Zugabe von 37%iger Salzsäure wird der
ίο pH-Wert der Suspension auf etwa 7 gestellt, noch eine
Stunde bei Raumtemperatur gerührt, abgenutscht und das Produkt mit 23°/oiger Natriumchloridlösung gewaschen.
Das Produkt wird in 750 ml Dimethylformamid siedend gelöst, die trübe Lösung klärfiltriert und das
Filtrat abgekühlt. Das auskristallisierte Produkt wird durch Filtration entfernt, das klare Filtrat mit 750 ml
destilliertem Wasser versetzt, zum Sieden erhitzt, klärfiltriert und das Filtrat abgekühlt. Das auskrislallisierte
Produkt wird abgenutscht und unter Vakuum getrocknet.
Ausbeute: 10,6 g der Verbindung der Formel

abgekühlt und das auskristallisierte Produkt abfiltriert. Dieses wird in 1 1 Äthanol siedend gelöst, klärfiltriert,
abgekühlt, durch Filtration isoliert und unter Vakuum bei 100 bis 110° C getrocknet.

103 g einer methanolischen Natriummethylat-Lösung mit einem Gehalt von 25,2% Natrium-methylat,
hergestellt durch Auflösen von Natrium in absolutem Methanol werden unter Vakuum zur Trockene eingedampft.
Das so erhaltene Natriummethylatpulver (handelsübliches Na-methylat ist gleichfalls verwendbar)
wird unter Rühren und Verdrängung der Luft durch einen Stick&off strom in 100 ml Dimethylformamid
suspendiert. Hierzu wird eine ca. 600C warme Lösung von 79,6 g 4,4'-Bis-(dimethoxyphosphonomethyl)-diphenyl,
42,4 g Natriumsalz der Benzaldehyd-2-sulfonsäure (Gehalt ca. 98%) und 28,7 g 2-Chlor-benzaldehyd in
300 ml Dimethylformamid im Verlauf von ca. 15 Minuten unter gutem Rühren zugetropft. Die Temperatur
steigt auf 45° C an und wird durch Eiskühlung bei 40 bis 45° C gehalten. Dann wird noch während 2 Stunden
bei 40 bis 45°C gerührt. Man gibt 400 ml Dimethylformamid und 520 ml Wasser zum Reaktionsgemisch,
neutralisiert mit wenig konzentrierter Salzsäure, erhitzt zum Sieden, filtriert die trübe Lösung durch eine
Drucknutsche und wäscht mit einer siedenden Mischung von 400 ml Dimethylformamid und 260 ml Wasser. Das
klare Filtrat wird abgekühlt, das auskristallisierende Produkt abgenutscht und unter Vakuum bei 100 bis
Π O0C getrocknet.
Man erhält etwa 41,8 g der Verbindung der Formel

welche durch Umkrisiallisation aus Dimethylformamid Wasser-Gemisch (6 :4) weiter gereinigt werden kann.

Vorstehende Verfahrensweise kann auch derart abgewandelt werden, daß man das 4,4'-Bis-{dimethoxyphosphonomethyl)-diphenyl,
das Natriumsalz der Benzaldehyd-2-sulfonsäure und den 2-Chlorbenzaldehyd in
400 ml Dimethylformamid vorlegt und das Natriummethylat unter Rühren einträgt

Die verwendeten Sulfobenzaldehyde können in an
sich bekannter Weise durch Sulfierung der entsprechenden Benzaldehyde mit Oleum mit 66% SC>3-Gehalt
erhalten werden. Die Isolierung und Reinigung erfolgt über das Bariumsalz.
55,5 g des Disulfochlorids der Formel

werden in 1500 ml wasserfreiem o-Dichlorbenzol bei
80°C gelöst. Im Verlauf von 15 Minuten werden 15,6 g einer 28,9%igen wasserfreien, äthanolischen Dimethyl- r,
aminlösung zugetropft. Es wird noch eine Stunde bei 75 bis 8O0C nachgerührt, durch eine Drucknutsche filtriert,
das Filtrat gekühlt und das auskristallisierte Produkt abgenutscht. Das abgenutschte Produkt wird in 500 ml
Pyridin 1 Stunde bei Rückflußtemperatur gekocht, die 2«
trübe Lösung klärfiltriert, das Filtrat gekühlt und das auskristallisierte Produkt abgenutscht. Dieses Produkt
wird in 200 ml Wasser aufgekocht, mit Natronlauge alkalisch gemacht, mittels einer Drucknutsche klärfiltriert,
das Filtrat auf 500C gekühlt, das auskristallisierte Produkt abgenutscht und unter Vakuum bei 100 bis
1100C getrocknet.

Das Disulfochlorid der Formel (91) wurde aus der Verbindung der Formel

durch Umsetzung mit Thionylchlorid unter Zusatz einer katalytischen Menge Dimethylformamid in wasserfreiem
Chlorbenzol bei 95 bis 1000C erhalten.
Die Verbindung (93) kann beispielsweise erhalten werden durch Kondensation von 1 Mol 4,4'-Bis-(diäthoxyphos-phonomethyl)-dipheny!
mit 2 Mol Natriumsalz des 2-Sulfobenzaldehyds in Dimethylformamid in
Gegenwart von etwa 8 Mol Kaliumhydroxidpulver (ca. 90% ig).
Im nachfolgenden werden die Verwendungsmöglichkeiten für die erfindungsgemäßen optischen Aufheller
veranschaulicht.
A. Gebleichter Baumwollstoff wird im Flottenverhältnis 1 :20 während 15 Minuten in einer 5O0C warmen
Flotte gewaschen, die pro Liter folgende Zusätze enthält:
0,004 bis 0,016 g des Aufhellers der Formeln
0,004 bis 0,016 g des Aufhellers der Formeln
(33), (36), (38), (39), (40), (42), (44), (45), (48), (50), (51)
und (64)

Der Baumwollstoff wird hierbei erst 15 Minuten
nach Bereitung des 50°C warmen Waschbadcs in das Bad eingebracht. Nach dem Spülen und Trocknen weist
das Gewebe einen guten Aufhelleffekt von guter Säure-, Licht- und Chlorechthcit auf.

J5 Man gelangt ebenfalls zu einem guten Aufhelleffekt,
wenn man den Waschvorgang in gleicher Weise während 15 Minuten bei 25°C durchführt.
Das Waschpulver der oben angegebenen Zusammensetzung kann die Aufheller der Formeln (33), (36), (38),
(39), (40), (42), (44), (45), (48), (50), (51) und (65) auch direkt einverleibt enthalten.
B. Ein Polyamidfasergewebe (Perlon-Helanca) wird im Flottenverhältnis 1 : 20 während 15 Minuten in einer
50°C warmen Flotte gewaschen, die pro Liter folgende Zusätze enthält:
0,004 bis 0,016 g des Aufhellers der Formeln
(33), (36). (38), (39), (40), (41), (42), (43), (44). (45), (48),
(50), (51) und (65)

Das Polyamidfasergewebe wird erst 15 Minuten
Wi nach Bereicherung des 50°C warmen Waschbadcs in
dasselbe eingebracht. Nach dem Spülen und Trocknen weist das Gewebe einen guten Aufhelleffekt von guter
Lichtechtheit auf.
Man gelangt ebenfalls zu einem guten Aufhelleffekt, hi wenn man den Waschvorgang in gleicher Weise jedoch
bei 25° C durchführt.
Das Waschpulver der oben angegebenen Zusammensetzung kann die Aufheller der Formeln (33), (36), (38),
(39), (40), (41), (42), (43), (44), (45), (48), (50), (51) und (65)
auch direkt einverleibt enthalten.
C. Ein Polyamidfasergewebe (Perlon) wird im Flottenverhältnis 1 :40 bei 600C in ein Bad eingebracht,
das (bezogen auf das Stoffgewicht) 0,1% eines der Aufheller der Formeln (33), (36), (38), (39), (40), (41), (42),
(43), (44), (48), (50), (51) und (65) sowie pro Liter 1 g 80%ige Essigsäure und 0,25 g eines Anlagerungsproduktes
von 30 bis 35 Mol Äthylenoxyd an ein Mol technischen Stearylalkohol enthält. Man erwärmt
innerhalb von 30 Minuten auf Kochtemperatur und hält während 30 Minuten beim Sieden. Nach dem Spülen und
Trocknen erhält man einen guten Aufhelleffekt.
Verwendet man anstelle des Gewebes aus Polyamid-6 ein solches aus Polyamid-66 (Nylon), so gelangt man zu
ähnlichen Aufhelleffekten.
Schließlich kann auch unter Hochtemperatur-Bedingungen, z. B. während 30 Minuten bei 1300C gearbeitet
werden. Für diese Anwendungsart empfiehlt sich ein Zusatz von 3 g/l Hydrosulfit zur Flotte.
D. 10 000 g eines aus Hexamethylendiaminadipat in bekannter Weise hergestellten Polyamides in Schnitzelform
werden mit 30 g Titandioxyd (Rutil-Modifikation) und 5 g einer der Verbindungen der Formeln (33), (36),
(38), (39), (40), (42), (43), (44), (48), (50), (51) und (65) in einem Rollgefäß während 12 Stunden gemischt. Die so
behandelten Schnitzel werden in einem mit öl oder Diphenyldampf auf 300 bis 31O0C beheizten Kessel,
nach Verdrängung des Luftsauerstoffes durch Wasserdampf geschmolzen und während einer halben Stunde
gerührt. Die Schmelze wird hierauf unter Stickstoffdruck von 5 Atü durch eine Spinndüse ausgepreßt und
das derart gesponnene abgekühlte Filament auf eine Spinnspule aufgewickelt. Die entstandenen Fäden
zeigen einen guten Aufhelleffekt.
Verwendet man anstelle eines aus Hexamethylendiaminadipat hergestellten Polyamides ein aus ε-Caprolactam
hergestelltes Polyamid, so gelangt man zu ähnlich guten Resultaten.
E. Ein mittels Aminoplastharz bügelfrei ausgerüsteter Baumwollstoff-Artikel wird im Flottenverhältnis 1 :20
während 15 Minuten in einer 400C warmen Flotte
gewaschen, die pro Liter folgende Zusätze enthält:
0,004 bis 0,016 g eines Aufhellers der Formeln
0,004 bis 0,016 g eines Aufhellers der Formeln
(33), (36), (38), (40) und (65)
4 g eines Waschpulvers folgender Zusammensetzung:

Nach dem Spülen und Trocknen weist das Gewebe im Tageslicht einen höheren Weißgehalt als das unbehandelte
Material auf.

Die Auswertung erfolgte am Filterfarbmeßgerät RFC 3 von Zeiss, und die Resultate sind in der folgenden
Tabelle zusammengefaßt.
Vom zu vergleichenden optischen Aufheller wird eine Lösung hergestellt, indem man 0,10 g in 100 ml eines
geeigneten Lösungsmittels löst.
Von dieser Aufhellerstammlösung gibt man 4 ml zur oben beschriebenen Waschflotte, setzt 0,02 aktives
Chlor aus einer Natriumhypochloritlösung zu und fügt ein 5 g schweres Bodanyl-Kräuselcrepe-Gewebe (Polyamid
6) bei.
Dann wird auf der Flaschenmaschine während 15 Minuten bei 55°C behandelt, anschließend unter
fließendem, kaltem Wasser gespült, zentrifugiert, auf
