本发明的实施例总体上涉及数字视频录像机(DVR)。本发明的实施例更具体地涉及向相关方(interested party)自动传输DVR用户的联系信息以便相关方能与DVR用户联系的技术。
背景技术
本部分描述的方法是可以实行的方法,但并不必然是先前已经构思或实行的方法。因此,除非另有指示,不应仅仅因为包含在本部分中,而将本部分描述的任何方法视为现有技术。

在另一实施例中,DVR 202通常包括多个部件,所述多个部件对于接收、录制、存储、传送和回放来自多个源(例如PC、DVR、服务提供商或者内容服务器)的数字数据信号是必要的。DVR 202能够向另一DVR或PC传送数字数据信号。DVR 202可以经由编码器256A和解码器256B将数字信号编码或解码为多个格式,以用于回放、存储或传送。根据本发明的一个实施例,编码器256A产生MPEG流。根据本发明的另一实施例,编码器256A产生使用不同编解码器编码的流。解码器256B对由编码器256A编码的流或者对以被接收的格式存储的流,使用适当的解码器进行解码。DVR 202还能够使用加密器/解密器258将数字数据信号加密或解密,用于存储、传送或回放数字数据信号。
在一个实施例中,DVR 202与服务提供商204通信,所述服务提供商提供节目指南数据、图形资源(例如品牌图标和图片)、服务信息、软件程序、广告和使得DVR 202能够独立于服务提供商204操作以执行自主的录制功能的其他数据形式。DVR 202和服务提供商204之间的通信利用安全的分布式架构,以在DVR 202和服务提供商204之间传送数据,使得服务数据和用户的隐私均得到保护。
3.0 自动联系信息传输系统
根据本发明的实施例,图1是示出用于获取、存储和向相关方提供DVR用户的联系信息的技术的例子的流程图。在本发明的一个实施例中,由图2A和2B中示出的DVR执行所示出技术的至少一部分步骤。根据本发明的各种可替换实施例,可替换的技术可以包含比图1中示出的步骤更少、更多或者不同的步骤。
现在参考图1,在方框102中,DVR向DVR用户请求联系信息。例如DVR通过向电视屏幕或者监视器发送对信息的语言请求来请求该信息。在一个实施例中,DVR在电视屏幕或者监视器上显示用户界面,该界面描绘出用户可选择的数字和字母。通过使用DVR远程控制上的导航按钮选择这些数字和字母,DVR用户将自己的联系信息提供给DVR。用户界面可以包括单独标记的区域,用户可以在这些区域中输入他的姓名、一个或多个街道地址、一个或多个电话号码、一个或多个电子邮件地址、一个或多个即时消息标识符、一个或多个信用卡号码等。在本发明的一个实施例中,允许DVR用户在特定区域保留空白。
DVR在其第一次被启动时初始请求联系信息。此外或者可替换地,作为DVR用户订阅DVR服务协议(通常需要DVR用户订阅一些服务这样他们的DVR可以获得电子节目指南信息,DVR需要该指南来确定节目将要广播的日期、时间和频道)过程中的一部分,DVR可以请求联系信息。在本发明的一个实施例中,每当显示联系信息请求时,DVR用户可以选择同意或者选择拒绝DVR自动使用用户的个人信息。在一个实施例中,直到需要联系信息时(例如,随后在下面描述的过程中),DVR才请求联系信息,以及只有联系信息未被存储在DVR的硬盘驱动器或者其他持久存储设备上时才请求。
在框图104中,DVR从DVR用户接收DVR用户的联系信息。例如,DVR通过前面描述的DVR产生并且显示的用户界面可以接收DVR用户的联系信息。可替换地,DVR可以自动从DVR服务提供商检索DVR用户联系信息。在本发明的一个实施例中,在DVR上存储多个不同的用户个人配置文件,并且为每个用户个人配置文件接收与其相关的不同的用户联系信息;在任意特定时刻,当前用户可以选择多个用户个人配置文件中哪一个是活动的。在本发明的一个实施例中,DVR的每个用户具有不同的远程控制,该控制可以被编程为向DVR发送只与远程控制相关的用户标识符。每个用户标识符可以与不同的用户个人配置信息和不同的用户联系信息相关。在本发明这样的实施例中,DVR将接收到的用户联系信息存入用户个人配置文件,该文件的用户标识符由被编程的远程控制送来,该远程控制当前正在被用于输入用户联系信息。
在框图106中,响应于接收DVR用户的联系信息,DVR在其硬盘驱动器或者其他持久存储设备中持久地存储DVR用户的联系信息。
在框图108中,DVR探测到电视信号(或者其他信号,例如DVR通过因特网接收到的信号,或者在DVR正播放的DVR录制的内容中包含的信号,或者DVR从缆线或者卫星天线接收的信号),DVR正在接收的该信号包括(或者可以从其中衍生出)某些指定类型的编码或者标签。响应于探测到信号中的该编码或者标签,DVR在电视屏幕上显示语言或者文本提示或图标。提示的内容可以基于在标签中描述的一个数值;DVR可以确定多个已存储提示中的哪个提示与所探测到的标签相关,并且随后从存储设备中获取相关的提示以进行显示。语言或者文本提示或图标通知DVR用户存在一些希望收到DVR用户的联系信息的供应商或者其他相关方。通常,该供应商或者相关方是与出现在电视节目中的信息、产品或者服务相关的个人、组织或者其他实体,信号代表了或者与上述节目或者广告相关。如同前面提到的,在本发明的一个实施例中,DVR引发电视向DVR用户发出可听到的声音,该声音指明在电视屏幕上正显示着图标或者提示(这样DVR用户更容易注意到图标和提示)。在本发明的一个实施例中,提示是以提问的形式出现,该提问标识出请求的供应商或者相关方,并且询问DVR用户是否允许DVR向供应商或者相关方发送SVR用户的联系信息。DVR可以以不明显侵扰或者打断DVR用户电视浏览过程的方式呈现图标和/或提示(例如在半透明的重叠层中并且只占据电视屏幕的一部分)。

在框图112中,DVR确定用户输入是否DVR用户许可DVR向供应商或者相关方发送DVR用户的联系信息。如果DVR确定用户输入指明DVR用户已经同意了允许DVR发送联系信息,则控制转到框图116。否则控制转到框图114。
在框图114中,响应于DVR用户否定许可(或者拒绝授予许可)DVR发送联系信息,DVR防止供应商或相关方访问DVR用户的联系信息。在本发明的一个实施例中,DVR通过制止向供应商或者相关方发送DVR用户的联系信息来实现阻止。DVR可以从电视屏幕或者监视器上移除图标或者提示,并且以与图标或者提示显示之前相同的方式继续常规的节目浏览。当DVR下一次探测到电视信号(或者其他信号,例如DVR通过因特网接到的信号,或者在DVR录制的DVR正在播放的内容中包含的信号,或者DVR从线缆或者卫星天线接收的信号)中特定种类的另一个标签或者编码时,控制最终转回到框图108。
可替换地,在框图116,DVR用户许可DVR发送联系信息,DVR从DVR的一个或多个存储设备(例如硬盘驱动器或者其他持久设备)读出DVR用户之前存储的联系信息(如果此时已经存储了联系信息),并且通过因特网向与前面描述的标签或者编码相关的供应商、服务或者相关方发送DVR用户的联系信息。在本发明的一个实施例中,标签或者编码包含或者指定了供应商或者相关方的URL、电子邮件地址或者即时消息身份。在这样的条件下,DVR向由标签或者编码包含或者指定的URL、电子邮件地址或者即时消息身份发送DVR用户的联系信息(或者至少指定的部分)。在本发明的一个实施例中,DVR通过因特网或者其他网络(例如LAN,WAN等)发送DVR用户的联系信息。在一个实施例中,不同的编程远程控制对应于在同一DVR上建立的不同用户配置文件,DVR确定从编程的远程控制中接收到了哪个用户标识符(从该控制中接收到了用户授予的许可),并且发送与该用户标识符相关的联系信息。
在本发明的一个实施例中,如果DVR确定此时DVR用户的联系信息还没有被存储在DVR的硬盘驱动器或者其他持久存储设备上,则DVR此时向DVR用户请求DVR用户的联系信息(例如参考框图102-104,使用前面描述的技术),并且在DVR的硬盘驱动器或者其他存储设备上存储联系信息以便目前或者以后使用。因此在本发明的一个实施例中,DVR第一次请求和/或接收DVR用户的联系信息是DVR用户第一次同意允许DVR向一些供应商或者相关方发送DVR用户的联系信息。在DVR完成了对DVR用户联系信息的初始存储后,DVR不需要再向DVR用户请求DVR用户的联系信息。
在本发明的一个实施例中,供应商或者相关方通过因特网接收DVR用户的联系信息。响应于接收该联系信息,供应商或者相关方处的人员或者机制可以使用在联系信息中包含的数据启动与DVR用户的联系。例如,人员或者机制可以通过向人员或者机制的电话中输入(或者如其惯用的称呼“拨打”)人们的电话号码(如在联系信息中指明的)来启动与DVR用户的电话呼叫。在另一个例子中,人员或者机制可以向联系信息中指明的电子邮件地址发送电子邮件消息。可以在DVR本机上执行即时消息应用程序,从而允许与DVR用户进行即时通信,该程序还可以运行在也为DVR用户所拥有的和/或使用的计算机上。在另一个例子中,人员或者机制可以向在联系信息中指明的街道地址发送信件、DVD、CD、试用品、赠券、目录和/或其他印刷或者编码的信息。在本发明的一个实施例中,人员或者机制使用DVR通过因特网发送的联系信息中包含的数据(例如因特网协议(IP)地址)启动与DVR用户的DVR的IP语音(“VOIP”)会话。人员或者机制随后可以利用VOIP会话与DVR通信。
无论人员或者机制使用什么通信方式来启动与DVR用户的通信,人员或者机制可以向DVR用户发送各种各样的通信信息。例如,当DVR询问DVR用户允许发送联系信息时,人员或者机制可以发送关于在DVR用户正在观看的电视节目或者广告中出镜的产品或者服务的更多信息。在另一个例子中,人员或者机制可以邀请DVR用户购买这样的服务和产品。在本发明的一个实施例中,人员或者机制使用包含在联系信息中的信用卡或者银行信息(然而在本发明的可替换实施方法是中,联系信息可以省略这样的信用卡或者银行信息)来向DVR用户收取该用户与人员或者机制通信时购买的服务或产品的费用。
4.0 实现机制-硬件概述
图3是示出了可以在其上实现本发明的实施例的计算机系统300的框图。计算机系统300包括总线302或用于传递信息的其他通信机制,以及与总线302连接的用于处理信息的处理器304。计算机系统300还包括主存储器306,例如随机存取存储器(RAM)或其他动态存储设备,主存储器306与总线302连接,用于存储信息和将由处理器304执行的指令。主存储器306还可以用于存储在将由处理器304执行的指令执行过程中的临时变量或其他中间信息。计算机系统300进一步包括与总线302连接的用于为处理器304存储静态信息和指令的只读存储器(ROM)308或其他静态存储设备。提供存储设备310(例如磁盘或光盘)并且存储设备310与总线302连接,用于存储信息和指令。
计算机系统300可以经由总线302与显示器312(例如阴极射线管(CRT))连接,用于向计算机用户显示信息。包括字母数字键和其他键的输入设备314与总线302连接,用于与处理器304传递信息和命令选择。另一类型的用户输入设备是光标控制器316,例如鼠标、跟踪球或光标方向键,用于向处理器304传送方向信息和命令选择并且用于控制光标在显示器312上的移动。该输入设备通常在两个轴,第一轴(例如x)和第二轴(例如y)上具有两个自由度,这允许设备在平面内指定位置。
本发明涉及计算机系统300的使用,用于根据DVR的选定特技播放模式选择多帧视频节目中的一帧。根据本发明的一个实施例,根据DVR的选定特技播放模式选择多帧视频节目中的一帧是由响应于执行包含在主存储器306中的一个或多个指令的一个或多个序列的处理器304的计算机系统300实现的。这样的指令可以从另一计算机可读介质(例如存储设备310)读入主存储器306。包含在主存储器306中的指令的序列的执行使得处理器304执行在此描述的处理步骤。在可替换的实施例中,硬连线电路可以用于代替软件指令或者与软件指令一起使用,以实现本发明。由此,本发明的实施例不限于硬件电路和软件的任意特定的结合。
在此使用的术语“计算机可读介质”指代参与向处理器304提供用于执行的指令的任意介质。这样的介质可以采用很多形式,包括但不限于非易失性介质、易失性介质和传输介质。非易失性介质包括,例如光盘或磁盘,例如存储设备310。易失性介质包括动态存储器,例如主存储器306。传输介质包括同轴电缆、铜线和光纤,包括组成总线302的线。传输介质还可以采取声波或光波形式,例如那些在声波和红外数据通信中产生的声波或光波。
计算机可读介质的常见形式包括,例如软盘、可折叠磁盘(flexibledisk)、硬盘、磁带或任意其他磁介质、CD-ROM、任意其他光学介质、穿孔卡片、纸带、任意其他带有孔的图案的物理介质、RAM、PROM、EPROM、闪存EPROM或任意其他存储芯片或卡带。
计算机可读介质的多种形式可以用于将一个或多个指令中的一个或多个序列传送到处理器304用于执行。例如,指令最初可以装载在远程计算机的磁盘上。远程计算机可以将指令加载到其动态存储器中,并且使用调制解调器通过电话线发送指令。计算机系统300的本地调制解调器可以接收电话线上的数据,并且使用红外发射器将数据转换为红外信号。红外探测器可以接收红外信号中承载的数据,并且适当的电路可以将数据放置在总线302上。总线302将数据传送到主存储器306,处理器304从主存储器306重新获取指令并且执行指令。在处理器304执行之前或之后,主存储器306接收的指令可以可选地存储在存储设备310上。
计算机系统300还包括与总线302连接的通信接口318。通信接口318提供与网络链接320连接的双向数据通信,网络链接320与本地网络322连接。例如,通信接口318可以是综合业务数字网(I SDN)卡或调制解调器,以向对应类型的电话线提供数据通信连接。作为另一示例,通信接口318可以是局域网(LAN)卡,以向兼容的LAN提供数据通信连接。也可以实现为无线链接。在任意这样的实现中,通信接口318发送并且接收电、电磁或光信号,这些信号承载代表多种信息类型的数字数据流。
网络链接320通常通过一个或多个网络向其他数据设备提供数据通信。例如,网络链接320可以通过本地网络322,向主机324或由因特网服务提供商(ISP)326操作的数据设备提供连接。ISP 326接着通过全球范围的包交换数据通信网(现在通常称为“因特网”328)提供数据通信服务。本地网络322和因特网328均使用承载数字数据流的电、电磁或光信号。经过不同网络的信号以及网络链接320上和经过通信接口318的信号(它们向计算机系统300或者从计算机系统300承载数字数据)是传输信息的载波的典型形式。
计算机系统300可以通过网络、网络链接320和通信接口318发送消息和接收数据(包括程序编码)。在因特网的示例中,服务器330可以通过因特网328、ISP 326、本地网络322和通信接口318传输用于应用程序的请求编码。
接收的编码可以在其被接收时由处理器304执行,并且/或者存储在存储设备310或其他非易失性存储器中用于以后执行。在这种方式中,计算机系统300可以获得载波形式的应用编码。
5.0 扩展和变形
在前述说明书中,已经参照本发明的特定实施例描述了本发明。但是应当明了在不脱离本发明的更广泛理念和范围的情况下,可以对其作出各种修改和变化。由此,说明书和附图应视为示例性而不是限制性的意义。
例如,在本发明的一个实施例中,如同前面所描述的,当DVR已经向相关方(例如供应商)提供了DVR用户的联系信息后,相关方使用相关方的计算机启动与DVR的IP语音(VOIP)会话。在这样的会话启动后,相关方借助DVR用户的DVR和电视通过因特网传输的VOIP包直接与DVR对话。在本发明这样的实施例中,DVR向相关方传输的联系信息包括DVR的IP地址和/或对DVR而言是唯一的标识符,这样相关方的计算机可以通过因特网与DVR建立VOIP连接。

在本发明类似的实施例中,相关方在相关方的计算机与DVR之间建立了因特网上视频会议。相关方和DVR用户在该视频会议中互相通信。DVR可选地连接或内建有一个视频摄像机以及麦克风,这样相关方可以同时看到和听到DVR用户正在做和说什么。在本发明这样的实施例中,可以借助有DVR与其连接的屏幕和扬声器向DVR用户呈现相关方的动作和讲话。
在本发明类似的实施例中,相关方在相关方的计算机与DVR之间建立即时消息连接。相关方和DVR用户在该视频会议中彼此通信。

Claims (26)

1.一种用于传输联系信息的方法,该方法包括:
数字视频录像机(DVR),其接收用户的联系信息并且存储该联系信息;
该DVR接收,与(a)DVR正在接收的电视节目或者广告,(b)录制的内容,或者(c)DVR通过因特网正在接收的内容相关的,特定类型的标签,该标签向DVR指明了相关方希望接收用户的内容信息;
响应于DVR接收特定类型的标签,该DVR请求用户许可向与所述标签相关的相关方发送用户的联系信息;以及
响应于DVR接收到用户对向相关方发送用户的联系信息的许可,DVR通过网络向相关方发送用户的联系信息。
2.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于,用户的联系信息包括用户的名字以及下述信息中的至少一个:(a)用户的街道地址,(b)用户的电话号码,(c)用户的电子邮件地址,以及(d)用户的即时消息标识符。
3.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于,DVR采用通过因特网向相关方发送用户的联系信息来通过网络向相关方发送用户的联系信息。
4.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于,通过用户对远程控制的操作从而操控由DVR产生的用户界面的方式,DVR从用户处接收用户的联系信息。

11.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于,联系信息包括标识DVR的数据,并且其中在向相关方发送用户的联系信息后,DVR便利了用户和相关方之间的实时沟通。

14.一种设备,其被配置为:
接收用户的联系信息并且存储该联系信息;
接收,与(a)所述设备正在接收的电视节目或者广告,(b)录制的内容,或者(c)所述设备正通过因特网接收的内容相关的,特定类型的标签,该标签向所述设备指明了相关方希望接收用户的内容信息;
响应于该设备接收特定类型的标签,该设备请求用户许可向与所述标签相关的相关方发送用户的联系信息;以及
响应于该设备接收到用户对向相关方发送用户的联系信息的许可,该设备通过网络向相关方发送用户的联系信息。
15.根据权利要求14所述的设备,其特征在于,用户的联系信息包括用户的名字以及下述信息中的至少一个:(a)用户的街道地址,(b)用户的电话号码,(c)用户的电子邮件地址,以及(d)用户的即时消息标识符。
16.根据权利要求14所述的设备,其特征在于,该设备采用通过因特网向相关方发送用户的联系信息来通过网络向相关方发送用户的联系信息。

25.根据权利要求24所述的设备,其特征在于,该设备使用IP语音(VOIP)协议便利了用户和相关方之间的实时沟通。
26.根据权利要求24所述的设备,其特征在于,该设备使用即时消息便利了用户和相关方之间的实时沟通。
