Additional patent to main patent no. 245989. Process for the production of an azo dye. It has been found that a valuable azo dye can be produced if 1 mol of 2,2'-dinaphthylamine-5,5'-dioxy-7,7 '-, triis-sulfonic acid is mixed with 1 iNIOI di:
azo-coated 4-amino-4'-oxy-1,1'-azobenzene-3,3'-dicarboxylic acid and on the other hand with 1 mol of diazoated 1-amino-4-benzoylaminobenzene-2-carboxylic acid.
When dry, the new dye is a dark, bronzing powder that turns violet in water, in conc. Sulfuric acid with a blue color dissolves and dyes cotton in light- and washfast blue tones using the one or two-bath post-copper plating process.
The diazotization of 4-amino-4'-oxy-1,1'-azobenzene-3,3'-dicarboxylic acid can be carried out before geous in an indirect way, for example by adding nitrite to a neutral or alkaline solution of the starting material and pouring it into a cooled one Acid solution is poured.
The couplings can be made in any order. It is advisable to carry out both couplings in an alkaline medium. The procedure here can be, for example, that the first coupling is carried out in an alkaline bicarbonate-alkaline medium and the second coupling is carried out in a more alkaline medium, such as, for example, an alkaline carbonate-alkaline medium and, if desired, with the addition of some pyridine.
Example: 30.1 parts of 4-amino-4'-oxy-1,1'-a.zobenzene-3,3'-dicarboxylic acid are dissolved with 27 parts of 30% strength sodium hydroxide solution in 200 parts of water and 7 parts of sodium nitrite are added. This solution is poured into a mixture of 200 parts of ice and 50 parts of 30% hydrochloric acid. The diazo slurry is then poured into a solution of 36 parts of 2,2'-dinaphthylamine-5,5'-dioxy-7,7'-disulfonic acid, which contains an excess of sodium bicarbonate.
When the diazo compound is no longer detectable, the resulting dye is filtered off, dissolved in water and, after addition of sodium carbonate and a little pyridine, with the diazo compound obtained from 25.6 parts of 1-amino-4-benzoylaminobenzene-2-carboxylic acid united. When the coupling has ended, the dye is filtered off and dried.
