Um reator de casco e tubo incluindo pelo menos um tubo de reação com um meio de medição, sendo substancialmente iguais as partículas sólidas com que se enchem os tubos de reação com ou sem meio de medição, sendo um comprimento da camada de partículas sólidas enchidas e uma queda de pressão sua, enquanto se faz passar um gás através do tubo de reação, substancialmente iguais, para cada tubo de reação, respectivamente. Medindo-se a temperatura da camada de partículas de catalisador, pode ser captada uma temperatura como sendo representativa
