図1(a)に示すように、一方の金属部品Wを第1保持ヘッド7に、他方の金属部品Tを第2保持ヘッド13にそれぞれ取付けて、一対の金属部品W,Tの各接合面Wa,Taを対向させる。次に、第3アクチュエータ25の駆動によりスライダ21を下方向へ移動させることにより、図1(b)に示すように、加熱コイル27を一対の金属部品W,Tの各接合面Wa,Taの間の領域に進入させる。そして、高周波電源から加熱コイル27に高周波電流を供給することにより、図1(c)に示すように、加熱コイル27によって一対の金属部品W,Tの各接合面Wa,Taを加熱する(図5参照)。ここで、一対の金属部品W,Tの劣化を防止するために、一対の金属部品W,Tの各接合面Wa,Taの温度が金属部品W,Tの材料の結晶成長温度又は変態温度等を超えないようにする。

接触工程の終了後に、図2(b)に示すように、一対の金属部品W,Tの各接合面Wa,Taを対向接触させた状態で、第2アクチュエータ17の駆動により他方の金属部品Tを前記基準の高さ位置を中心として上下方向へ第2保持ヘッド13と一体的に往復移動(往復振幅α)する。ここで往復移動方向は対向接触した接合面により規定される仮想平面に平行な方向であって、本実施形態では対向方向(接合面の法線方向)に直交する方向である。
第1接合工程の終了後に、図3(a)に示すように、一対の金属部品W,Tの寄り量mが目標の寄り量t1になるまで、第1アクチュエータ11の駆動による一方の金属部品Wの押圧動作を継続して、一対の金属部品W,Tの各接合面Wa,Taを据え込む(図5参照)。これにより、図3(b)に示すように、一対の金属部品W,Tの各接合面Wa,TaからバリBとして排出しつつ、一対の金属部品W,Tの各接合面Wa,Taを接合することができる。換言すれば、一対の金属部品W,Tからなる接合構造体JSを製造することができる。

- 一対の金属部品の各接合面に発生する摩擦熱を利用して、一対の前記金属部品の各接合面を接合する摩擦接合方法であって、
一対の前記金属部品のうち少なくともいずれかの前記金属部品の接合面を加熱する加熱工程と、
前記加熱工程の終了後に、一対の前記金属部品の各接合面を対向させた状態で、一方の前記金属部品を他方の前記金属部品側へ相対的に移動させることにより、一対の前記金属部品の各接合面を接触させる接触工程と、
前記接触工程の終了後に、一対の前記金属部品の各接合面を対向接触させた状態で、一方の前記金属部品を他方の前記金属部品に対して前記対向接触する接合面に平行な方向に相対的に往復運動させつつ、一対の前記金属部品の寄り量が目標の寄り量になるまで一方の前記金属部品を他方の前記金属部品側へ相対的に押圧することにより、摩擦熱によって一対の前記金属部品の各接合面を軟化させて接合する接合工程と、
を具備し、
前記加熱工程の処理により前記接合工程の開始時におけるいずれかの前記金属部品の接合面の温度がその前記金属部品の材料の融点の20%以上となることを特徴とする摩擦接合方法。 - 前記加熱工程の処理により前記接合工程の開始時におけるいずれかの前記金属部品の加熱深さを1.0mm以上とすることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の摩擦接合方法。
- 前記加熱工程中に、一対の前記金属部品の各接合面を加熱することを特徴とする請求項1又は請求項2に記載の摩擦接合方法。
- 前記接合工程は、
前記接触工程の終了後に、一対の前記金属部品の各接合面を対向接触させた状態で、一方の前記金属部品を他方の前記金属部品に対して前記接合面に平行な方向に相対的に往復運動させつつ、一方の前記金属部品を他方の前記金属部品側へ相対的に押圧することにより、摩擦熱によって一対の前記金属部品の各接合面を軟化させ、一対の前記金属部品の寄り量が前記目標の寄り量よりも小さく設定した目標前の寄り量になると一方の前記金属部品の相対的な往復移動を停止する第1接合工程と、
前記第1接合工程の終了後に、一対の前記金属部品の寄り量が目標の寄り量になるまで、一方の前記金属部品の相対的な押圧動作を継続して、一対の前記金属部品の各接合面を据え込むことにより、一対の前記金属部品の各接合面を接合する第2接合工程と、を備えていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至請求項3のいずれか1項に記載の摩擦接合方法。 - 前記金属部品は、ガスタービンエンジンに用いられるエンジン部品であることを特徴とする請求項1乃至請求項4のいずれか1項に記載の摩擦接合方法。
- 請求項1乃至請求項5のいずれか1項に記載の摩擦接合方法によって接合されたことを特徴とする接合構造体。
