Definitions
- FIG. 12 is a view showing a conventional electric power steering apparatus disclosed in, for example, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 4-31171.
- the motor 1 for assisting the steering force is driven and controlled by a motor drive circuit 2.
- the motor drive circuit 2 is composed of an H-shaped bridge circuit using power transistors.
- the current flowing to the motor 1 is detected by the motor current detection circuit 3.
- the voltage between the terminals of the motor 1 is detected by the motor terminal voltage detection circuit 4.
- a clutch 5 for mechanically disconnecting the motor 1 from the steering shaft is driven by a clutch drive circuit 6.
- the steering force of the driver is detected by a torque sensor 7, and the traveling speed of the vehicle is detected by a vehicle speed sensor 8.
- Outputs of the torque sensor 7, the vehicle speed sensor 8, and the like are read by the microcomputer 9. Further, the microcomputer 9 controls the motor 1 to generate an optimum steering assist force according to the situation, and a voltage detection circuit between the motor terminals.
- a failure is detected based on the output such as 4.
- the power supply voltage from the battery 10 is supplied to the motor 1 through the motor drive circuit 2 and to the microcomputer 9 through the ignition switch 11.
- the microcomputer 9 is When the switch is turned on by the driver and the power is supplied, the torque sensor 7 and the vehicle speed sensor 8 are read, and the optimum output to be generated from the motor 1 according to the traveling state of the vehicle and the steering state of the driver is determined. Calculate the steering assist force.
- Motor 1 is a DC motor, and since the motor current and the torque are proportional, the steering assist force is equivalent to the motor current. Therefore, the calculation result of the steering assisting force is the target current of the motor 1.
- the microcomputer 9 reads the motor current detected by the motor current detection circuit 3 and calculates the applied voltage to the motor 1 by performing feedback control to match the target current of the motor 1 with the detected current. - the voltage between the terminals of the motor 1 is detected by the motor terminal voltage detection circuit 4, and the voltage applied between the motor 1 (indicated voltage) indicated as described above and the detected terminal of the motor 1
- the voltage (detection voltage) is compared. If the deviation between the indicated voltage and the detected voltage exceeds the specified value for more than the specified time, it is judged as failure. For example, when the state in which the detected voltage is lower than the specified voltage compared to the specified voltage continues for a predetermined time or more, it is determined that a failure has occurred, such as a ground fault in the motor 1 wiring.
- the motor 1 since the motor 1 generates a voltage (back electromotive force) proportional to the rotation speed, if the motor 1 is driven and rotates, the back electromotive force will be the deviation between the command voltage and the detection voltage even if there is no failure. There is a possibility of erroneously detecting a failure.

- the microcomputer 9 includes a CPU 19 that performs a failure determination process, a control operation process, and the like based on a signal input from each detection circuit, a ROM 20 storing each processing program, and the like, and temporarily stores a processing result and input data.
- the operation as an electric power steering is the same as that of the conventional device.
- the microcomputer 9 gives an instruction to the motor drive circuit 2 that generates the optimum steering assist force from the motor 1 according to the detection values of the tonnole sensor 7, the vehicle speed sensor 8, and the motor current detection circuit 3, and drives the motor 1. I do.
- the operation of the motor terminal voltage will be described.
- the motor 1 since a current of several tens (A) needs to flow through the motor 1, the motor 1 is pulse-driven in order to suppress heat generation of the motor drive circuit 2. Therefore, a case where the motor current is controlled by PWM will be described here as an example.
- the motor drive circuit 2 for rotating the motor 1 forward and backward is configured as an H-shaped bridge circuit with switching elements such as MOS FETs, and the applied voltage to the motor 1 is controlled by PWM, generally, as shown in FIG. Switching either the power supply side or the ground side MOSFET and turning on the other switching element at all times (one side PWM drive method), and as shown in Fig. 3, both the power supply side and the ground side MOS FET Switching method (two-sided PWM drive system)
- PWM generally, as shown in FIG. Switching either the power supply side or the ground side MOSFET and turning on the other switching element at all times (one side PWM drive method), and as shown in Fig. 3, both the power supply side and the ground side MOS FET Switching method (two-sided PWM drive system)
- FIG. 2 is an operation explanatory diagram showing the waveform of the motor terminal voltage when the motor 1 is driven by the one-sided PWM drive method.
- the CPU 19 outputs an instruction to the PWM timer 24 based on a predetermined calculation result, and sets the MOS transistor 12a at a predetermined duty ratio based on a desired applied voltage to the motor 1, the M0SFET 12b and c at a duty ratio of 0%, and a MOS transistor.
- the FET 12d is driven at a duty ratio of 100%, the running current flows through the I1 path shown in Fig. 2.
- the parasitic diode of M0SFET12C becomes VM + asymptotically approaches 0 because FET 12a turns off during the off period.
- VM— is 0 regardless of whether the MOS FET 12a is on or off.
- FIG. 3 is an operation explanatory diagram showing the waveform of the motor terminal voltage when the motor 1 is driven by the double-sided PWM drive method.
- the CPU 19 gives an instruction to the PWM timer 24 based on a predetermined calculation result, and sets the MOSFETs 12a and d to a predetermined duty ratio based on a desired applied voltage to the module 1 and the MOSFETs 12b and c to a duty ratio of 0%.
- current flows through the paths of I1 and I2 shown in Fig. 3.
- VM10 and VM— in each mode fluctuate as shown in Fig. 3.
- the parasitic diode of M0SFET12b, c turns off while M0SFET12a, d is off, so that VM + approaches asymptotically VBZ2.
- the M0SFETs 12a and d are on, the VM becomes 0 when the M0SFETs 12a and d are turned off.
- VM— VB— VF.
- FIG. 5 illustrates the voltages VM + and VM ⁇ generated at the + terminal and one terminal by the electromotive force V e.
- the back electromotive force Ve shown here is superimposed on the voltage applied by the motor drive circuit 2, so that the command voltage from the microcomputer 9 does not match the voltage between the terminals of the motor 1.
- the motor 1 is rotated from the load, that is, from the tire side, even if the command voltage is 0, the back electromotive force appears at each terminal of the motor 1.
- VM + and VM ⁇ change to the same phase when a short-to-power or ground fault occurs, and change to the opposite phase when a back electromotive force occurs. You can see that In other words, if VM + and VM ⁇ are both equal to or higher than a predetermined value or equal to or lower than a predetermined value, it is determined that a failure has occurred. Changes can be distinguished, and erroneous detection of a failure due to back electromotive force can be prevented.
- Vc c constant voltage
- the motor 1 since the motor 1 is pulse-driven, high-frequency noise is superimposed on the motor terminal voltage.
- the microcomputer 9 By inputting the signal to the microcomputer 9 through the low-pass filter composed of the resistors Rl, R2, R3, and C, as in the present embodiment, the first-order lag to the motor terminal voltage can be used to detect the failure caused by the noise. It can be prevented.
- step S1 a duty ratio for driving the motor 1 is calculated based on signals from the torque sensor 7, the vehicle speed sensor 8, the motor current detection circuit 3, and the like.
- MOSFET1 If the parasitic diode of OSFET12 is not reverse biased, MOSFET1
- step S2 it is checked whether or not the power supply voltage of the motor drive circuit 2 detected by the power supply voltage detection circuit 17 is equal to or lower than a predetermined value VBTH, and if (power supply voltage) ⁇ VBTH, the process proceeds to step S3. Clear the failure duration counter. It is assumed that this counter has been initialized to 0 after the CPU 19 has been reset. Further, while the motor 1 is being driven, the failure determination condition in the present embodiment, VM + and VM ⁇ , both become equal to or more than a predetermined value or both become equal to or less than a predetermined value. . For example, referring to FIG.
- both the VM + and the VM ⁇ are at or below the ground potential while the M0SFET 12a is off.
- both the VM + and VM ⁇ rise to near VBZ2 while the M0SFETs 12 a and d are off.
- step S4 it is checked whether M0SFET12a ⁇ (! Is more than a predetermined time or not. If t or deviation is ON, the counter for measuring the failure duration time is cleared in step S3. In step S13 to be described later, when the target current is 0, all M0SFETs 12a to 12d are turned off.
- step S5 it is checked whether both VM10 and VM— are equal to or greater than a predetermined value VTHH, and if VM + ⁇ VTHH or VM-- ⁇ VTHH, a counter for short-circuit fault determination is set in step S6. clear.
- step S7 it is checked whether both VM10 and VM— are equal to or less than a predetermined value VTHL. If VM + ⁇ VTHL or VM— ⁇ VTHL, the ground fault fault determination counter is determined in step S8. Clear
- step S9 both the short-to-power fault determination counter and the ground fault fault determination power counter are incremented by one.
- the counter thus counted up or cleared is equal to or greater than a predetermined value TTH, that is, a power supply fault or a ground fault has continued for a predetermined time or more.
- step S10 it is checked whether the connection is continued, and if it exceeds the predetermined value TTH, a failure flag is set in step S11.
- the predetermined value TTH is long enough to prevent erroneous determination of a failure when the failure condition is satisfied spontaneously due to noise or the like, and short enough to detect the failure before it becomes important (for example, several hundred (ms) )).
- failure flag is initialized to 0 after the CPU 19 is reset at power-on, and after the CPU 19 is reset, it retains 1 until the microcomputer 9 is reset again.
- the motor 1, the power relay 16, and the alarm lamp 18 are driven in steps S12 to S14.
- the failure flag is set in step S12, and if it is 0, the electric power steering is operated normally in step S13. That is, the motor 1 is driven at the duty ratio calculated in step S1, the power supply relay 16 is turned on, and the alarm lamp 18 is turned off.
- the MOSFET 12 is first turned off in step S14 to take a fail-safe action. As a result, it is possible to prevent the MOSFET 12 from being energized and burned out when the wiring of the motor 1 has a power supply fault or a ground fault. Further, the power relay 16 is turned off. As a result, an excessive current flowing through the motor drive circuit 2 can be cut off even in the case of a short-circuit failure of the MOS FET 12. Then, the alarm lamp 18 is turned on to warn the driver.
- Serious faults such as short-to-power and ground faults should be detected as soon as the fault occurs and fail-safe measures should be taken.
- the power steering does not operate, and the power is not supplied to the car overnight. Therefore, it is desirable to detect a short-to-power fault or a ground fault while the motor drive circuit 2 is off, and to take fail-safe measures.
- the motor drive circuit 2 detects during off-time and takes a fail-safe measure.
- the fault of the motor 1 wiring due to the power supply or ground fault or the short-circuit fault of the MOS FET 12 or the like can be prevented without erroneously detecting the fault under the influence of the back electromotive force of the motor 1. Can be recognized before conducting.
- the failure is detected only when the motor 1 is not driven. However, even when the motor 1 is being driven, the failure is detected when the duty ratio output from the motor drive circuit 2 is high. Can detect a fault while distinguishing it from the back electromotive force. Referring to FIGS. 2 and 3, when the duty ratio output from the motor drive circuit 2 is high, the difference between the average voltages of VM10 and VM ⁇ is sufficiently large during normal operation, and VM + and VM ⁇ change in the same direction. It can be seen that it can be distinguished from the case of ground fault or ground fault.
- VM + and VM ⁇ both become equal to or more than the predetermined value or equal to or less than the predetermined value as in the first embodiment. In that case, it should be determined that a failure has occurred.
- the time constant of the first-order lag of the motor terminal voltage detection circuit 13 is sufficiently longer than the period of the PWM carrier.
- the setting is made so that the detection of the fault is not delayed and causes no danger, it is possible to smooth the rectangular motor terminal voltage by PWM and detect the fault by the average voltage.
- the carrier frequency of the PWM is set to be higher than the audible frequency (for example, 20 (kHz)). This causes a very heavy load, but this allows the motor terminal voltage to be sampled at a period (for example, several (ms)) longer than the period of the PWM carrier, thus reducing the load on the microcomputer 9. can do.
- FIG. 9 is a diagram for explaining the operation when a short-to-power fault or a ground fault occurs while the motor 1 is energized.
- the MOSFET 12a when the MOSFET 12a is driven by PWM, the MOSFETs 12b and c are turned off, and the MOSFET 12d is turned on during one-side PWM drive, and is driven by PWM during both-side PWM drive.
- the behavior when one terminal side of the motor drive circuit faults and the case where the + terminal side of the motor drive circuit 2 ground faults will be described.
- the motor current is feedback-controlled, so when the VM + rises and the motor current stops flowing, the microcomputer 9 acts to increase the current of the motor 1, causing the M0SFET 12a to operate. Increase the drive duty ratio. Then, the output duty ratio of the motor drive circuit 2 increases to 100%, and VM- also increases to the vicinity of the power supply voltage VB. Therefore, when the output duty ratio of the motor drive circuit 2 is equal to or more than the predetermined value, if both VM + and VM ⁇ are equal to or more than the predetermined value, it is determined that a short-to-power fault has occurred. . Even during the double-sided PWM drive, the operation of the MOSFET 12d increases the drive duty ratio to 100% by the above-described current feedback control, so that the operation is the same as that of the single-sided PWM drive.
- V M + becomes the ground potential
- the current from the MOSFET 12a flows into the ground fault point, and the current stops flowing to the motor 1.
- the output duty ratio of the motor drive circuit 2 increases due to the operation of the current feedback control described above.
- VM— is at the ground potential because the MOS FET 12d is on.
- the normal operation is performed when driving one side of the PWM, and the operation is the same as that when driving both sides of the PWM, so it cannot be a serious failure.
- the motor current detection circuit 3 detects the current flowing due to the short-circuit failure, and the above-described current feedback is performed. It is conceivable that the duty ratio output from the motor drive circuit 2 is reduced by the action of the control, which satisfies the failure detection prohibition condition and makes it impossible to detect a failure. For example, when point A in Fig.
- the prohibition condition of the failure detection based on the output duty ratio of the motor drive circuit 2 is not satisfied, and the prohibition condition of the failure detection is not satisfied. It can be considered that there is no decrease in the fault detection capability due to the provision. If the failure mode shown in Fig. 9 can be detected while motor 1 is being driven, the time is + minutes. If the failure mode cannot be detected during driving, the method described in the first embodiment is used together, and motor drive circuit 2 is used. It is only necessary to detect a failure after turning off.
- step S1 a duty ratio for driving the motor 1 is calculated based on signals from the torque sensor 7, the vehicle speed sensor 8, the motor current detection circuit 3, and the like. Then, in steps S2 to S3, failure determination is prohibited. Up to this point, it is the same as Embodiment 1.
- step SI5 it is checked whether the duty ratio for driving the motor 1 exceeds a predetermined value DTH. If the drive duty ratio ⁇ DTH, a failure is detected in step S16 when the motor 1 is off, as in steps S4 to S8 of the first embodiment. Driving Duty Ratio> In the case of DTH, a failure determination is made in steps S5 to S11. Finally, in steps S12 to S14, motor 1, power relay 16 and alarm lamp 18 are driven.
- the motor current enters the intermittent mode, and VM + and VM- change in the same direction when the motor current is relatively small. Therefore, the same effect can be obtained even if the second embodiment is configured to detect a failure only when the target current or the detected current of motor 1 is equal to or more than a predetermined value.
- Motor 1 If the wiring of Motor 1 is short-to-power or ground-fault, the terminals of Motor 1 are short-circuited via the parasitic diode of MOSFET 12. When motor 1 is short-circuited, it generates a braking force proportional to the rotation speed (power generation brake). Therefore, in the case of this failure, the steering force increases as the steering speed increases.
- the generator brake is prevented when a failure occurs.
- FIG. 11 is a schematic configuration diagram of the present embodiment. Portions that are the same as or correspond to those in Embodiment 1 or the conventional device are denoted by the same reference numerals, and description thereof is omitted.
- 27 is a steering wheel
- 28 is a tire
- 29 is a reducer that transmits the output torque of the motor 1 to the steering system
- 30 is inserted in a closed circuit formed by the motor drive circuit 2 and the motor 1.
- the motor relay 31 is a control unit for the electric power steering, and has the same circuit configuration as that of FIG.
- control unit 31 provides the driver with appropriate steering force according to the steering torque detected by the torque sensor 7 and the vehicle speed signal.
- the torque is generated from the motor 1 so that the steering wheel 27 can be operated by the motor 1.
- the output torque of the motor 1 is transmitted to the steering system via the speed reducer 29.
- the failure of the motor 1 is detected by the method described in the first to third embodiments, the driving of the motor 1 is inhibited, the power supply relay 16 built in the control unit 31 is opened, and the alarm lamp 1 is opened. 8 to alert the driver. Furthermore, in addition to the above-mentioned fail-safe measures, a motor relay 30 is provided in a closed circuit formed by the motor drive circuit 2 and the motor 1, and when a failure is detected, the motor relay 30 is opened to prevent the power generation brake when the motor 1 fails. .
- the motor relay 30 may be provided in the control unit 31. However, if the motor 1 and the motor relay 30 are integrated as in the present embodiment, the wiring between the motor 1 and the control unit 31 is established. Also, it is possible to prevent the power generation brake of the motor 1 due to the short-circuit failure of the motor.
- the electric power steering apparatus assists the steering force with the motor based on the steering torque and the like, and fails when the terminal voltage of the motor becomes a predetermined value or more or a predetermined value or less. Judgment is suitable for detecting a power supply ground fault or a ground fault in the motor wiring without erroneously detecting a fault due to the influence of the back electromotive force of the motor.
