Abstract

Un procedimiento para la preparación de un compuesto que es dihidrato de monometanosulfonato de ácido (E)-alfa-[2-n-butil-1-[(4-carboxifenil)metil]-1H-imidazol-5-il]metilen-2-tiofenopropiónico; que comprende recristalizar la forma anhidra de monometansulfonato de ácido (E) )-alfa-[2-n-butil-1-[(4-carboxifenil)metil]-1H-imidazol-5-il]metilen-2-tiofenopropiónico en una solución acuosa que contiene un ácido. El procedimiento para la preparación de dihidrato de eprosartano que comprende: a- suspender anhidrato de eprosartano en una solución acuosa de ácido metanosulfónico3,0 M; b- agitar continuamente la suspensión y calentar a 65-70ºC; c- filtrar y mantener el filtrado obtenido a 75ºC durante varios minutos para garantizar la ausencia del anhidrato en solución; d- enfriar lentamente la solución a temperatura ambiente, y; e- filtrar, recoger la sustancia cristalina, incolora, clara y dejar secar al aire. El producto de la invención es útil para bloquear los receptores de la angiotesina II y para tratar la hipertensión, la insuficiencia cardiaca congestiva y la insuficiencia renal.
