Bulus, bir alt tabakayi ve titanyum, nikel, tantal, zirkonyum, niyobyum ve bunlarin alasimlarindan ibaret olan gruptan seçilen bir elementi ihtiva etmekte olan, titanyum üzerine ve rutenyum üzerine bazlandirilmis olan karma oksitten bir ara tabaka ve titanyum, zirkonyum ve rutenyum ihtiva etmekte olan metal oksitlerden bir harici tabaka ile kaplanmis bulunan, özel bir katoda iliskin olmaktadir. Bulus, ayni zamanda, sözü edilen katodun yapilmasina mahsus bir metoda ve bunun elektroliz içindeki kullanimlarina iliskin olmaktadir.
