Abstract

Det beskrives magnesiumbaserte legeringer som spesielt er egnet for støpingsanvendelse der gode mekaniske egenskaper ønskes ved romtemperatur og forhøyede temperaturer. Legeringene inneholder: 2 til 4,5 vektprosent neodym; 0,2 til 7,0 vektprosent av minst ett sjeldent jordmetall med atomnummer 62 til 71; opptil 1,3 vektprosent sink; og 0,2 til 0,7 vektprosent zirkonium; eventuelt med en eller flere andre mindre komponenter. Legeringene er resistente mot korrosjon, viser god aldrings-herdingsoppførsel, og er også egnet for ekstrudering og smilegeringsanvendelser.
