SAMMENDRAG Foreliggende oppfinnelse angår en fremgangsmåte for fremstilling av zeaxantin og/eller biosyntetiske mellomprodukter og/eller følgeprodukter derav ved dyrking av genetisk modifiserte plant er som, sammenlignet med villtypen, har en redusert e-cyklase-aktivitet forårsaket av dobbeltrådige e-cyklase-ribonukleinsyresekvenser, de genetisk modifiserte plantene og anvendelse derav som matvarer og fôrstoffer, samt fremstilling av karotenoidekstrakter.
