Abstract
Se prepara una composición ácida purificada que comprende ácido 2,5-furanodicarboxílico en un procedimiento, que comprende (i) oxidar una materia prima que contiene 5-alcoximetilfurfural a un producto de oxidación que comprende ácido 2,5-furanodicarboxílico (FDCA) y ácido 2-formil-furan-5-carboxílico (FFCA), y ésteres de FDCA y, opcionalmente, ésteres de FFCA; (ii) opcionalmente, disolver al menos parte del producto de oxidación en un solvente polar para obtener una solución del producto de oxidación, que comprende FDCA, FFCA y ésteres de FDCA y, opcionalmente, ésteres de FFCA; (iii) hidrolizar la al menos parte del producto de oxidación en presencia de agua, hidrolizando de este modo al menos ésteres de FDCA y, opcionalmente, ésteres de FFCA para obtener una solución acuosa de una composición ácida que comprende FDCA, FFCA y éster de FDCA en una cantidad por debajo de la cantidad de éster de FDCA en la solución del producto de oxidación; (iv) poner en contacto al menos parte de la solución de la composición ácida obtenida en la etapa (iii) con hidrógeno en presencia de un catalizador de hidrogenación para hidrogenar FFCA a productos de hidrogenación, produciendo una solución hidrogenada; y (v) separar al menos una porción del FDCA de al menos parte de la solución hidrogenada mediante cristalización.
