Abstract

En una modalidad, la invención está dirigida a un procedimiento para producir etanol, que comprende el paso de proporcionar a partir de una columna de destilación en un procedimiento de carbonilación una corriente de ácido acético purificado que comprende hasta 25% en peso de agua; el procedimiento además comprende el paso de hidrogenar ácido acético de la corriente de ácido acético purificado en presencia de un catalizador y bajo condiciones efectivas para formar un producto de etanol crudo que comprende etanol y agua; el etanol se recupera del producto de etanol crudo.
