Abstract

Se describe una composición de pretratamiento para un metal que provee resistencia a la corrosión mejorada, adhesión a la pintura mejorada y daño por desportillado reducido. El pretratamiento también es un limpiador debido a que el mismo es a base de zirconio en vez de fosfatos de zinc. La composición de revestimiento de pretratamiento en uso preferiblemente comprende 50 a 300 partes por millón (ppm) de zirconio, 0 a 100 ppm de SiO2, 150-2000 ppm de flúor total y 10-100 ppm de flúor libre, 150 a 10000 ppm de zinc y 10 a 10000 ppm de un agente oxidante y tiene un pH de 3.0 a 5.0, de manera preferible de aproximadamente 4.0. La composición de revestimiento opcionalmente puede incluir 0 a 50 ppm de cobre. Los agentes oxidantes adecuados se pueden seleccionar de un extenso grupo. La composición de revestimiento de pretratamiento mejora enormemente la resistencia a la corrosión de una amplia variedad de substratos de metal que incluyen acero laminado en frío, acero laminado en caliente, acero inoxidable, acero revestido con metal de zinc, aleaciones de zinc, tales como acero electrogalvanizado, alumbre galvánico, recocido galvánico, acero galvanizado por inmersión en caliente, aleaciones de aluminio y substratos de aluminio.
