- 제 1 항에 있어서,미리 결정된 영역에서 선택된 셀들은 미리 결정된 컬러의 게스트 염료(들) (guest dye(s)) 을 갖는 LC로 채워지는 것을 특징으로 하는 LC 표시장치.
- 제 11 항에 있어서,미리 결정된 컬러의 게스트 염료(들) 을 포함하는 LC로 채워진 상기 셀들은 각각 서로 인접해 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 LC 표시장치.
- 제 11 항에 있어서,미리 결정된 컬러의 게스트 염료(들) 을 포함하는 LC로 채워진 상기 셀들은 각각 서로의 위에 쌓여있는 것을 특징으로 하는 LC 표시장치.
- LC 표시장치 내에 사용되며 실질적으로 균일한 크기와 모양을 가지며 윤곽이 뚜렷한 셀들의 제조방법에 있어서,a) 열가소성 또는 열경화성 프리커서층을 도전필름 위에 코팅하는 단계;b) 미리 형성된 메일 몰드로 열가소성 또는 열경화성 프리커서층을 엠보싱하는 단계;c) 열가소성 또는 열경화성 프리커서층으로부터 몰드를 분리하는 단계;d) 열가소성 또는 열경화성 프리커서층을 경화시키는 단계; 및e) 상기와 같이 형성된 마이크로컵들의 어레이를 LC로 채우는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- 제 14 항에 있어서,상기 열경화성 프리커서는 다가의 아크릴레이트 또는 메타크릴레이트, 비닐벤젠, 비닐실란, 비닐에테르를 포함하는 다가의 비닐, 다가의 에폭사이드, 다가의 아릴 및 교차결합되는 관능기를 포함하는 소중합체, 중합체 등 중 어느 하나인 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- 제 14 항에 있어서,상기 열가소성 또는 열경화성 프리커서층은 상기 열가소성 또는 열경화성 프리커서층의 유리 전이 온도에 근접한 온도 또는 그 이상의 온도에서 엠보싱되는 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- 제 16 항에 있어서,상기 유리 전이 온도는 약 -70℃ 내지 약 150℃의 범위인 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- 제 16 항에 있어서,상기 유리 전이 온도는 약 -20℃ 내지 약 100℃의 범위인 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- 제 14 항에 있어서,열경화성 프리커서층을 경화시키는 과정은 조사, 열, 수분, 냉각 또는 용제나 가소제의 증발의 상호 조합에 의해 수행되는 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- 제 14 항에 있어서,열경화성 프리커서층을 경화시키는 과정은 UV, 가시광, IR에 근접한 광, 또는 전자 빔 조사에 의해 수행되는 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- 제 14 항에 있어서,상기 미리 형성된 메일 몰드는 열가소성 또는 열경화성 프리커서층이 경화되기 전, 경화되는 동안 또는 경화된 후에 분리되는 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- LC 표시장치 내에 사용되며 실질적으로 균일한 크기와 모양을 갖는 윤곽이 뚜렷한 셀들의 제조방법에 있어서,a) 도전 필름 위에 조사 경화성 혼합물층을 코팅하는 단계;b) 상기 조사 경화성층을 이미지와이즈 노출하는 단계;c) 현상제 또는 용매에 의해 노출되지 않은 영역을 제거하여 마이크로컵들의어레이를 드러내는 단계; 및d) 마이크로컵들을 LC로 채우는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- 제 22 항에 있어서,상기 마이크로컵들은 LC와 게스트 염료(들)로 채워지는 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- 제 22 항에 있어서,상기 조사 경화성 혼합물은 다가의 아크릴레이트 또는 메타크릴레이트, 비닐벤젠, 비닐실란, 비닐에테르를 포함하는 다가의 비닐, 다가의 에폭사이드, 다가의 아릴, 교차결합 가능한 관능기를 포함하는 소중합체 또는 중합체 등에서 선택되는 물질을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- 제 22 항에 있어서,상기 이미지와이즈 노출은 UV, 가시광, IR에 근접한 광, 또는 전자 빔 조사에 의해 수행되는 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- LC 표시장치 내에 사용되는 윤곽이 뚜렷한 셀들의 어레이의 제조방법에 있어서,a) 액정 혼합물과 상기 LC의 비중보다 작은 비중을 갖는 열경화성 또는 열가소성 프리커서 혼합물의 분산으로 상기 마이크로컵들을 채우는 단계; 및b) 상태가 분리되어 LC 위로 떠있는 층이 형성되는 동안 또는 형성된 후 상기 열경화성 또는 열가소성 프리커서 혼합물을 경화시킴으로써 마이크로컵들을 밀봉하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- 제 26 항에 있어서,상기 액정 혼합물은 게스트 염료(들)를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- 제 26 항에 있어서,상기 열경화성 또는 열가소성 프리커서 혼합물은 아크릴레이트 또는 메타크릴레이트, 비닐, 다가의 아크릴레이트 또는 메타크릴레이트, 시아노아크릴레이트, 비닐벤젠, 비닐실란, 비닐에테르를 포함하는 다가의 비닐, 다가의 에폭사이드, 다가의 이소시아네이트, 다가의 아릴, 및 그들로부터 유도되는 소중합체 또는 중합체 등에서 선택되는 물질을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- 제 28 항에 있어서,상기 소중합체 또는 중합체는 교차결합 가능한 관능기를 포함하는 것들로부터 유도되는 것을 특징으로하는 제조방법.
- LC 표시장치 내에 사용되는 윤곽이 뚜렷한 셀들의 제조방법에 있어서,a) LC 혼합물로 마이크로컵들을 채우는 단계;b) 적어도 부분적으로는 상기 LC와 섞이지 않으며 상기 LC의 비중보다 낮은 비중을 갖는 열경화성 또는 열가소성 프리커서 혼합물을 상기 LC로 채워진 마이크로컵들 위로 오버코팅함으로써 상기 마이크로컵들을 밀봉하는 단계; 및c) 상기 열가소성 또는 열경화성 프리커서 혼합물을 경화시키는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- 제 30 항에 있어서,상기 열경화성 또는 열가소성 프리커서 혼합물은 상기 혼합물이 상기 LC 위로 코팅된 후 증발되는 휘발성 용매 또는 용매 혼합물로 희석되는 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- 제 30 항에 있어서,상기 코팅된 열경화성 프리커서 혼합물은 조사, 열, 수분, 또는 오버코트와 상기 LC간의 접촉면에서의 접촉반응에 의해 경화되는 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- 제 30 항에 있어서,상기 열가소성 또는 열경화성 프리커서 혼합물은 아크릴레이트 또는 메타크릴레이트, 비닐, 다가의 아크릴레이트 또는 메타크릴레이트, 시아노아크릴레이트, 비닐벤젠, 비닐실란, 비닐에테르를 포함하는 다가의 비닐, 다가의 에폭사이드, 다가의 이소시아네이트, 다가의 아릴, 그들로부터 유도되는 소중합체 또는 중합체 등에서 선택되는 물질을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- 제 33 항에 있어서,상기 소중합체 또는 중합체는 교차결합 가능한 관능기를 포함하는 것들로부터 유도되는 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- LC 표시장치를 제조하는 방법에 있어서,a) 우선 열가소성 또는 열경화성 프리커서층을 도전필름 위에 코팅하고, 다음으로 열가소성 또는 열경화성 프리커서층을 메일 몰드로 엠보싱하거나 열경화성 프리커서를 이미지와이즈 노출하여 노출되지 않은 영역을 제거함으로써 마이크로컵들을 제조하는 단계;b) 이와 같이 형성된 마이크로컵들의 어레이를 LC로 채우는 단계;c) 마이크로컵들을 밀봉하는 단계; 및d) 바람직하게는 접촉성층으로 미리 코팅된 제 2 도전필름으로 밀봉된 LC 셀들의 어레이를 적층하는 단계를 포함하는 제조방법.
- 제 35 항에 있어서,상기 밀봉된 LC 셀들의 어레이는 접착성층으로 미리 코팅된 제 2 도전필름으로 적층되는 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- 제 35 항에 있어서,상기 접착성층은 열, 수분 또는 조사에 의해서 경화가능하거나 교차결합 가능하며, 적층되는 동안 또는 적층된 후 경화되는 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- 다중-컬러 LC 표시장치의 제조 방법에 있어서,a) 우선 열가소성 또는 열경화성 프리커서층을 도전필름 위에 코팅하고, 다음으로 메일 몰드로 열가소성 또는 열경화성 프리커서층을 엠보싱하거나 열경화성 프리커서층을 이미지와이즈 노출하여 노출되지 않은 영역을 제거하는 단계;b) 상기와 같이 형성된 마이크로컵들의 어레이를 양성 포토레지스트로 적층하는 단계;c) 상기 양성 포토레지스트를 이미지와이즈 노출하여 미리 정해진 영역에서 선택적으로 상기 마이크로컵들을 개방하는 단계;d) 제 1 컬러의 게스트 염료(들)를 갖는 LC로 상기 열린 마이크로컵들을 채우는 단계;e) 상기 마이크로컵들을 밀봉하여 제 1 컬러의 염료를 갖는 닫힌 LC를 형성하는 단계;f) 필요한 경우, 다른 영역에 상기 c) 단계부터 상기 e) 단계를 반복하여 다른 컬러의 LC액을 포함하는 마이크로컵들의 그룹을 만드는 단계;g) 남아있는 양성 포토레지스트가 있다면 이를 제거하는 단계; 및h) 접착성층으로 미리 코팅된 투명한 제 2 도전 필름으로 상기 밀봉된 LC 셀들의 어레이를 적층하는 단계를 포함하는 제조방법.
- 제 35 항에 있어서,상기 마이크로컵들의 밀봉은 LC와 상기 LC의 비중보다 낮은 비중을 갖는 열가소성 또는 열경화성 프리커서 혼합물로 상기 마이크로컵들을 채우고, 다음으로 상태가 분리되어 LC 위로 떠있는층이 형성되는 동안 또는 형성된 후 상기 열경화성 프리커서 혼합물을 경화함으로써 수행되는 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- 제 39 항에 있어서,상기 마이크로컵들의 밀봉은 LC와 게스트 염료(들)로 상기 마이크로컵들을 채움으로써 수행되는 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- 제 38 항에 있어서,상기 마이크로컵들의 밀봉은 LC와 상기 LC의 비중보다 낮은 비중을 갖는 열가소성 또는 열경화성 프리커서 혼합물로 상기 마이크로컵들을 채우고, 다음으로 상태가 분리되어 LC 위로 떠있는 층이 형성되는 동안 또는 형성된 후 상기 열가소성 또는 열경화성 프리커서 혼합물을 경화함으로써 수행되는 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- 제 41 항에 있어서,상기 마이크로컵들의 밀봉은 LC와 게스트 염료(들)로 상기 마이크로컵들을 채움으로써 수행되는 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- 제 35 항에 있어서,상기 채워진 마이크로컵들의 밀봉은 상기 LC 위로 적어도 부분적으로는 상기 LC와 섞이지 않으며 상기 LC의 비중보다 낮은 비중을 갖는 열가소성 또는 열경화성 프리커서 혼합물을 오버코팅하고, 상기 열가소성 또는 열경화성 프리커서 혼합물을 경화함으로써 수행되는 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- 제 38 항에 있어서,상기 채워진 마이크로컵들의 밀봉은 상기 LC 위로 적어도 부분적으로는 상기 LC와 섞이지 않으며 상기 LC의 비중보다 낮은 비중을 갖는 열가소성 또는 열경화성 프리커서 혼합물을 오버코팅하고, 상기 열가소성 또는 열경화성 프리커서 혼합물을경화함으로써 수행되는 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- 제 35 항에 있어서,접착성층이 상기 양성 포토레지스트 위에 미리 코팅되고 마이크로컵들의 어레이 위로 적층되는 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- 제 38 항에 있어서,접착성층이 상기 양성 포토레지스트 위에 미리 코팅되고 마이크로컵들의 어레이 위로 적층되는 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- 제 45 항에 있어서,상기 접착제는 상기 양성 포토레지스트의 현상제에 의해 현상가능한 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- 제 46 항에 있어서,상기 접착제는 상기 양성 포토레지스트의 현상제에 의해 현상가능한 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- 제 38 항에 있어서,상기 컬러 필터들은 상기 표시장치 위로 적층되거나 코팅되는 것을 특징으로하는 제조방법.
- 제 49 항에 있어서,상기 컬러 필터들은 적색, 녹색 또는 청색 컬러 필터들인 것을 특징으로 하는 제조방법.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 LC는 게스트 염료에 의해 채색된 것을 특징으로 하는 LC 표시장치.
- 제 51 항에 있어서,상기 게스트 염료의 색은 가색계 또는 감색계인 것을 특징으로 하는 LC 표시장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 표시장치는 액정 혼합물로 채워진 하나 이상의 마이크로컵 어레이층을 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 LC 표시장치.
