전자 메시지 전송 방법, 전자 메시지 전송 장치 및 프로그램 저장 매체{ELECTRONIC MESSAGE FORWARDING}
본 발명은 컴퓨터 환경에서의 전자 메시징 시스템에 관한 것이다. 보다 구체적으로는, 본 발명은 전화번호로 어드레스된 전자 메시지의 전달에 관한 것이다.
정보화 시대는 일상 생활에 다양한 통신 도구를 가져왔다. 기존의 전화 및 팩스 서비스 외에, 무선 통신 시스템 및 전자 메시징 시스템은 편의를 제공하고 기존의 통신 장치가 제공하지 않는 이점을 제공하는 유망한 방법이다. 예를 들면, 무선 통신 시스템은 이동 전화 사용자로 하여금 무선 전화 서비스가 제공되는 지역 내의 어떠한 장소에서도 소지하고 있는 휴대 전화를 사용할 수 있도록 한다. 전자 메시징 시스템은 사용자로 하여금 인터넷에 액세스된 컴퓨터 단말기를 통해 인터넷으로부터 수신된 전자 메시지에 액세스할 수 있도록 한다.
예를 들어 인터넷을 통한 무선 통신 시스템과 전자 메시징 시스템 사이 또는 전자 메시징 시스템과 팩스 서비스 사이와 같은 상이한 통신 시스템 간의 통신 및 전자 메시지 전달을 가능하게 하기 위한 많은 노력이 이루어져 왔다. 통합 메시징 시스템(unified messaging system)은 음성 메일, 팩스 메시지, 전자 메시징의 세 가지 전형적인 메시지 유형 사이의 상호 운용성(interoperability)을 허용하는 범용 메시지 전송 및 전달 시스템을 제공하고자 한다. 이 통합 메시징 시스템을 사용하면, 사용자는 단일 액세스 포인트를 통해 세 유형의 메시지를 모두 송수신할 수 있다. 예를 들면, 사용자는 컴퓨터 단말기의 전자 메시지 시스템 또는 전화번호를 갖는 전화 시스템을 통해 이들 세 유형의 메시지 모두에 액세스할 수 있다.
SMS(Short Message Services)는 이동 전화 사용자가 하나의 이동 전화로부터 다른 이동 전화에서의 수신용 전화번호로 어드레스된 작은 텍스트 메시지를 송신하도록 하는 일종의 전자 메시징 시스템이다. 또한, 사용자는 웹 브라우저를 사용하여 무선 서비스 제공자의 웹사이트를 통해 SMS 메시지를 전화번호의 이동 전화로 송신할 수도 있다. 또한, 사용자는 AOL 인스턴트 메신저와 같은 인스턴트 메시징 소프트웨어를 사용하여 전화번호의 이동 전화 전화로 SMS 메시지를 송신할 수도 있다. 수신자는 또한 AOL 인스턴트 메시지와 같은 인스턴트 메시징 서비스 상의 대화명(Screen Name)으로 메시지를 발송하는 특별한 쇼트 코드를 사용하는 것과 같이 다양한 메커니즘을 이용하여 이동 장치로부터 응답할 수도 있다. 전화번호로 어드레스된 SMS 메시지는 통상 중앙 쇼트 메시지 센터(central short message center)에 저장되며, 중앙 쇼트 메시지 센터는 이동 전화가 중앙 쇼트 메시지 센터와의 통신이 가능한 경우에 그 전화번호의 이동 전화로 SMS 메시지를 전송한다.
IMS(Instant Message Services)는 사용자가 통신망 상의 사용자 인터페이스를 통해 인스턴트 메시지를 교환할 수 있도록 하는 실시간 통신 프로세스이다. 인 스턴트 메시지는 통상 소스와 수신지(destination) 장치 사이의 통신 채널이 실시간 통신을 위해 확립될 때 교환된다.
그러나, SMS와 IMS 간의 상호 운용성은 아직까지 달성되지 않았다. SMS 및 IMS의 양 세계를 연결하는 전자 메시지 전달 시스템을 제공하는 것이 바람직할 것이다.
본 발명은 컴퓨터 환경에서 전화번호로 어드레스된 전자 메시지를 전송하는 프로세스 및 시스템을 제공한다.

본 발명은 컴퓨터 환경에서 전자 메시지 전송 시스템으로 구현된다. 본 발명은 전화번호로 어드레스된 전자 메시지를 대응하는 전화번호와 관련된 인스턴트 메시지 식별자에 대해 인스턴트 메시지로서 전송하는 방법 및 장치를 제공한다.

SMS 서버가 SMS 텍스트 메시지를 수신한 후에(704), SMS 텍스트 메시지의 내용이 타겟 단어에 대해 검사되고, 소정의 선택 규칙이 인입 SMS 텍스트 메시지로 적용가능하다(706). 일실시예에서는, SMS 텍스트 메시지가 데이터베이스에 저장된 타겟 단어들을 포함하는 지의 여부를 판정하기 위한 탐색이 수행된다. 소정의 선택 규칙이 인입 SMS 텍스트 메시지에 적용가능하고 판정되면(706), 새로운 메시지가 사전에 정해진 선택 규칙에 따라서 생성된다(708). 예를 들면, 원래 SMS 텍스트 메시지 내의 원치 않은 타겟 단어가 삭제되어, 이러한 타겟 단어가 없는 인스턴트 메시지가 생성된다.

도 8은 본 발명의 일실시예에 따른 SMS 메시지 전송 방법을 도시한 블록도이 다. 본 발명은 SMS 텍스트 메시지에 응답하여 자동 응답을 생성하는 방법을 제공한다.
도 8을 참조하면, 사용자 A는 SMS를 이용하여 SMS 텍스트 메시지를 자신의 이동 전하로부터 수신하고 자신의 이동 전화로 송신한다. 이어서, 사용자 A는 자신에게 메시지를 전송하는 다른 사용자들에게 응답을 자동으로 생성하기를 원한다. 사용자 A는 자동 응답을 포함하는 텍스트 메시지를 사전에 정해진 전화번호로 전송한다. 예를 들면, 메시지 "Gone Fishin'"가 사전에 정해진 전화번호 "*99" 또는 "4699"로 송신된다.
일실시예에서는, SMS 서버가 사전에 정해진 전화번호로 어드레스된 SMS 텍스트 메시지를 수신한 후(802), 동적 메시지 제어 서버는 SMS 텍스트 메시지의 소스 전화번호를 판정한다(804). 소스 전화번호 정보에 기초하여, 소스 전화번호로 어드레스된 임의의 장래의 SMS 텍스트 메시지에 대해 자동 응답이 생성되도록 소스 전화번호의 사용자의 선호도가 수정된다(806). 예를 들면, SMS 서버가 사용자 A로부터 SMS 텍스트 메시지 "Gone Fishin'"를 수신하면, 사용자 A와 관련된 전화번호가 결정되고, 서버가 전화번호로 어드레스된 장래의 SMS 텍스트 메시지에 대해 자동 응답을 발생하도록 사용자 A의 선호도가 수정된다.
예를 들면, 인입 SMS 메시지가, 자동 응답을 요구하는 전화번호로 어드레스되도록 결정되면, 자동 응답을 포함하는 SMS 텍스트 메시지가 생성된다(808). 예를 들어 사용자 A의 전화번호와 같이 자동 응답 서비스를 요구하는 전화번호로부터의 SMS 메시지의 컨텍스트는 자동 응답을 발생하는데 이용될 수도 있다. 예를 들 면, 사용자 A가 "Gone fishin'"의 텍스트 메시지를 사전에 정해진 전화번호 "*99" 또는 "4699"로 전송한 후에, 사용자 A의 전화번호로 어드레스된 어떠한 텍스트 메시지도 사용자 A에 대한 음성 메일 인사/자동 응답과 동등한 텍스트인 자동 생성된 응답 텍스트 메시지 "Gone fishin"로 자동 응답될 것이다.

이와 달리, 일부 부가적인 사용자 선호도가 시간 및 날짜에 기초하여 인스턴트 메시지 수신기로의 메시지 전달을 조절하도록 설정될 수 있다. 예를 들면, 도 7에서는 예를 들면, 12:00 am 내지 6:00 am와 같이 소정 시간 내 및/또는 예를 들면 2003년 12월 25일 내지 2004년 1월 1일과 같이 날짜 범위 내에 메시지가 인스턴트 메시지 수신기 및/또는 이동 장치로 전송되지 않는다는 것을 나타내는 사전에 정해진 규칙이 있을 수 있다. 또한, 사용자는 도 8에 도시된 바와 같이, 이 기간 동안에 자동 응답을 지정할 수도 있다.
일실시예에서는, 메시지 전달이 사용자 선호도를 넘는 범공동체(community-wide) SPAM 규칙에 의존할 수 있다. 예를 들면, 만약, 발신 전화번호가 어떠한 범공동체 규칙을 위반하여 공동체로부터 추방되었거나 또는 소정 기간 내(즉, 속도 제한)에 너무 많은 메시지를 전송하였다면, 그 전화번호는 전화번호 리스트 상에 배치될 수도 있다. 만약 전화번호가 이 리스트 상에 있으면, 동적 메시지 제어 서버가 이 전화번호로부터 발신하는 메시지를 임의의 수신지 장치로 전달하지 않을 것이다. 마찬가지로, 수신지 전화 번호는 "Do Not Call" 리스트와 유사한 "Do Not Message" 리스트에 있도록 선택될 수도 있다. 사실, 만약 수신지 전화번호가 이 리스트 상에 있으면, 어떠한 발신 전화번호로부터의 메시지는 수신지 전화번호로 전달되지 않을 것이다.
일실시예에서는, 메시지가 어떻게 전달되는 지에 관계없이 메시지들의 로그가 동적 메시지 제어 서버에 의해 생성될 수 있다. 예를 들면, 만약 메시지가 308에서와 같이 이동 장치의 번호로 직접 전달되면, 이 동작은 로그 내에 기록된다. 이 로그는 동적 메시지 제어 서버의 일부분이 되는 관리자 툴에 의해 액세스가능할 것이다.
본 발명은 SMS-C 서버 상에서 실시될 수 있거나 IM 서버와 같은 별개의 서버 상에서 실시될 수 있다. 동적 메시지 제어 서버는 동적 메시지 제어 서버에 의해 SMS 서버와 독립적으로 실시될 수 있는 SMS-C 서버 A 발송 로직 내에 포함될 수 있다.
이 방법들의 실시예는 다른 유형의 전자 메시지와 함께 이용될 수 있다. 다른 유형의 전자 메시지는 텍스트 메시지, MMS 메시지, 비디오 메시지 및 오디오 메시지 등과 같은 SMS/MMS 허용 및/또는 IMS 허용 전자 장치에 의해 전달되고 수신될 수 있는 어떠한 유형의 전자 메시지도 포함할 수 있다. SMS 허용 및 IMS 허용 전 자 장치는 컴퓨터, PDA, 이동 전화 또는 유선 전화 수신기 또는 기타 전자 장치를 포함한다.
본 발명의 실시예는 전술한 방법에 따른 전자 메시지를 전송하는 장치 및 전술한 바와 같은 어드레스 정보를 갱신하는 방법을 수행하는 컴퓨터에 의해 실행가능한 인스트럭션의 프로그램을 구현하는 컴퓨터에 의해 판독가능한 프로그램 저장 매체를 포함한다.
이상, 본 발명을 바람직한 실시예를 참고하여 설명하였지만, 당업자라면 본 발명의 사상 및 범주로부터 벗어나지 않고 다른 애플리케이션이 본 명세서에 개시된 내용을 대체할 수도 있다는 것을 알 수 있을 것이다. 따라서, 본 발명은 첨부한 청구범위에 의해서만 제한된다.

Claims (61)

  1. 하나 이상의 서버와 복수의 클라이언트 장치를 구비한 컴퓨터 환경에서 전자 메시지를 전송하는 방법에 있어서,
    서버에서 전화번호로 어드레스된 전자 메시지를 수신하는 단계와,
    서버에서 상기 전화번호와 관련된 인스턴트 메시지 식별자를 판정하는 단계와,
    서버에서 상기 복수 클라이언트 장치중의 인스턴트 메시지 수신기가 상기 인스턴트 메시지 식별자로 어드레스된 메시지를 수신하는데 현재 이용가능한 지의 여부를 실시간으로 판정하는 단계를 포함하고,
    서버에서 인스턴트 메시지 수신기가 상기 인스턴트 메시지 식별자로 어드레스된 인스턴트 메시지를 수신하는데 이용가능하다는 판정에 응답하여, 상기 전자 메시지를 상기 인스턴트 메시지 식별자로 어드레스된 인스턴트 메시지로서 전송하는 단계와,
    서버에서 어떠한 인스턴트 메시지 수신기도 상기 인스턴트 메시지 식별자로 어드레스된 인스턴트 메시지를 수신하는데 이용가능하지 않다는 판정에 응답하여, 상기 전자 메시지를 상기 전화번호의 이동 장치로 전송하는 단계로 이루어진 그룹 중 하나의 단계를 수행하는 단계를 포함하는 전자 메시지 전송 방법.
  2. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 전자 메시지는 텍스트 메시지, SMS 텍스트 메시지, MMS 메시지, 비디오 메시지 및 오디오 메시지 중 어느 하나를 포함하는

    서버에서 데이터베이스 내의 상기 전화번호와 관련된 상기 인스턴트 메시지 식별자를 탐색하는 것에 의해 상기 인스턴트 메시지 식별자가 판정되는
