Description
図1のように順次積層されている第1電極層2011、有機層2012および第2電極層2013を含む素子領域201とパッド領域301が上部に形成されている基板101を用いた。前記において、素子領域とパッド領域は公知の方式で製造した。まず、基板101としてフレキシブル基板であるPI(polyimide)フィルムをキャリア基板であるガラス基板上に位置させて、PIフィルム上にバリア層を形成した。バリア層は、ALD(Atomic Layer Deposition)方式で、単独蒸着時に屈折率が約1.6〜1.8程度の範囲内であるAl2O3の層と単独蒸着時に屈折率が約2.0〜2.4程度の範囲内であるTiO2の層を交互に蒸着して、最終的に屈折率が約1.8程度となるように形成した。Al2O3の層は公知のALD方式にしたがって約200℃の温度で前駆体としてトリメチルアルミニウム層と水(H2O)層を交互に吸着させて形成し、TiO2の層も公知されたALD方式により約200℃の温度で前駆体としてTiCl4の層と水(H2O)層交互に吸着させて形成した。形成時に、各Al2O3の層およびTiO2の層の厚さはそれぞれ約2nm〜5nmの範囲内となるようにして最終的に約40nm程度の厚さのバリア層を形成した。引き続きバリア層上に公知の素材を用いて正孔注入性透明電極層、正孔輸送層、発光波長が約380〜500nmの範囲内にある第1発光ユニット、n型有機半導体層、p型有機半導体層、発光波長が約500〜700nmの範囲内にある第2発光ユニット、正孔ブロック層、電子輸送層、電子注入層および電子注入性反射電極層を順次形成して素子領域およびパッド領域を形成した。
実施例1と同一の方式で有機電子装置を製造するものの、第1高分子層の蒸着後、マスキング工程を通して前記第1高分子層が蒸着されていない領域にGMA(glycidyl methacrylate)を単量体として用いたiCVD方式で第2高分子層を形成し、その後、ALD層の形成を進行して、粘着シートを通して第1高分子層を剥離した。実施例1と同一の方式で結果を検討した結果、実施例1のように第1高分子層が形成されていた部位のALD層だけがきれいに除去されたことを確認することができた。
パッド領域上にiCVD膜を形成せず、その代わり粘着パッドを裏当てした後、ALD膜を形成して前記粘着パッドを剥離してパッド領域を露出させたことを除いては、実施例1と同様にして有機電子装置を製造した。前記の通りに製造された比較例1の装置と実施例1の装置の性能を比較したものを図6および図7に示した。図6は実施例の場合のJ−V曲線であり、図7は比較例1の場合のJ−V曲線である。図6および図7の比較から確認できるように、実施例1の場合、安定したJ−V曲線が得られたが、比較例1の場合には粘着パッドによる外部物質の流入によりJ−V曲線が非常に不安定であることを確認することができる。

Claims (10)
- 順次積層されている第1電極層、有機層および第2電極層を含む素子領域と、前記第1または第2電極層と電気的に連結されているパッド領域と、が上部に形成されている基板の少なくとも前記パッド領域上に第1高分子膜を形成する段階;
前記基板のパッド領域と素子領域上に無機物層を形成する段階;
前記第1高分子膜と、前記第1高分子膜上の無機物層の一部とを除去してパッド領域を露出させる段階;および
無機物層を形成する前に前記素子領域上に第2高分子膜を形成する段階を含み、
第1高分子膜は疎水性材を含み、第2高分子膜は親水性材を含む、有機電子装置の製造方法。 - 第1高分子膜はiCVD方式で形成される、請求項1に記載の有機電子装置の製造方法。
- 第1高分子膜は200mT〜1Tの範囲内の圧力下で形成される、請求項2に記載の有機電子装置の製造方法。
- 第1高分子膜は100nm以上の厚さに形成される、請求項1に記載の有機電子装置の製造方法。
- 第1高分子膜は炭化水素基またはハロゲン化炭化水素基を含む、請求項1に記載の有機電子装置の製造方法。
- 第1高分子膜は、下記の化学式1の化合物を用いて形成される、請求項1に記載の有機電子装置の製造方法。
- 無機物層はALD方式で形成される、請求項1に記載の有機電子装置の製造方法。
- 無機物層は、バリア層である、請求項1に記載の有機電子装置の製造方法。
- 第2高分子膜はヒドロキシ基、エポキシ基、アミノ基またはカルボキシル基を含む、請求項1に記載の有機電子装置の製造方法。
- 第2高分子膜はヒドロキシアルキル(メタ)アクリレート、ヒドロキシポリアルキレングリコール(メタ)アクリレート、カルボキシル基含有単量体;グリシジル基を有する単量体またはアミド系単量体を用いて形成される、請求項1に記載の有機電子装置の製造方法。
