Description
本発明の他の一実施形態において、結晶性SiO2を還元してケイ素系複合体を製造する段階を含む負極活物質の製造方法を提供する。
本発明のさらに他の一実施形態において、前記製造方法により製造された負極活物質を含むリチウム二次電池を提供する。
これに対し、本発明の一実施形態は、Si及び結晶性SiO2が結晶粒状態で含まれたケイ素系複合体及びこれを含む負極活物質を提供する。
一方、前述のところのように、本発明の一実施形態によるケイ素系複合体は、Si及び結晶性SiO2の結晶粒を含むことができる。
[2Mg + SiO2 → Si + 2MgO]
さらに、還元剤として、Mg以外の他の金属性還元剤が用いられてよく、この場合も、前記反応式の類似の反応により結晶性SiO2の還元が起こることになる。
前記副産物が除去された生成物を捕集した後、洗浄及び乾燥段階を経て所望のSi及び結晶性SiO2を含むケイ素系複合体を得ることができる。
本発明のさらに他の一実施形態において、集電体及び前記集電体の少なくとも一面に形成された前記製造方法により製造された負極活物質を含む負極を提供する。
本発明のさらに他の一実施形態において、前記製造方法により製造された負極活物質を含むリチウム二次電池を提供する。
前記溶媒としては、N−メチル−2−ピロリドン、アセトン、水などを用いることができる。
前記分散剤は、水系分散剤またはN−メチル−2−ピロリドンなどの有機分散剤を用いることができる。
選択的に、本発明の一実施形態により貯蔵される電解質は、通常の電解質に含まれる過充電防止剤などのような添加剤をさらに含むことができる。
実施例1
結晶性SiO2粉末100g及び金属還元剤としてMgパウダーを41g混合した後、熱還元チャンバの反応容器内に収納し、引続き、前記チャンバの温度を570℃に昇温した。以後、不活性ガスはArを用い、これを約800sccmの流量で供給した。また、前記反応容器は回転管状炉を用いて反応した。8時間の間熱還元反応を行い、8時間の経過後、チャンバの温度を常温に減温し、反応容器内の生成物を捕集してケイ素系複合体を製造した。製造されたケイ素系複合体でHCl(1N)を利用して還元されたMgOなどを除去した。このとき、製造されたケイ素系複合体の走査電子顕微鏡(Scanning Electron Microscopy、以下SEM)写真を図4に示した。
非晶質SiO2を熱還元したことを除いては、実施例1と同一にしてケイ素系複合体を製造した。
実施例2
負極活物質として前記実施例1で製造されたケイ素系複合体、導電剤としてアセチレンブラック、及びバインダーとしてポリビニリデンフルオリドを用いて、これらを95:1:4の重量比で混合し、これらを溶媒であるN−メチル−2−ピロリドンに混合してスラリーを製造した。製造されたスラリーを銅集電体の片面に30μmの厚さにコーティングし、乾燥及び圧延した後、一定の大きさにパンチングして負極を製造した。
前記比較例1で製造されたケイ素系複合体をそれぞれ負極活物質として用いたことを除いては、実施例2と同一の方法でコイン型半電池を製造した。
前記実施例2及び比較例2で製造されたコイン型半電池の初期放電容量を調べるため、25℃で最初のサイクルは定電流/定電圧(CC/CV)条件で4.2Vまで0.1Cで充電した後、定電流(CC)条件で0.05Cで充電した。以後、30分間放置した後、3Vまで0.1Cで放電して初期放電容量を測定した。
前記方法で測定した初期放電容量及び初期効率の測定の結果を、下記表1に示した。
前記実施例2及び比較例2で製造されたコイン型半電池に対し、0〜1.4V領域での電圧プロファイルを測定した結果を図1に示した。これを参照すれば、実施例2の半電池が比較例2の半電池に比べて電圧プロファイルが均一なだけでなく、初期容量が大きいとのことを確認することができる。特に、0.4V付近で活用することができる電池の放電容量がおおよそ2倍に至るとのことが分かる。
結晶性SiO2及び実施例1のケイ素系複合体を、X線回折ピーク(X−ray diffraction peaks)を得て構造を分析し、その結果を図3に示した。図3に示す通り、本発明の一実施形態による製造方法により製造された実施例1のケイ素系複合体のXRDグラフでSiピークが存在することを確認することができた。
Claims (13)
- 負極活物質であって、
Si及び結晶性SiO2からなるケイ素系複合体を備えてなり、
SiO2が結晶粒であり、
前記ケイ素系複合体が、結晶性SiO 2 の熱還元により、Siと、還元されずに残っている結晶性SiO 2 の結晶粒が互いに複合体をなして存在するものであり、
前記ケイ素系複合体がSiOx(0<x<1)で表現されることを特徴とする、負極活物質。 - 前記結晶性SiO2が、石英(quartz)、クリストバライト(cristobalite)及びトリディマイト(tridymite)であることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の負極活物質。
- 前記Siが、結晶質、非晶質及びこれらの混合物からなる群より選択される一種であることを特徴とする、請求項1又は2に記載の負極活物質。
- 前記負極活物質の平均粒径が、0.1μmから20μmであることを特徴とする、請求項1〜3の何れか一項に記載の負極活物質。
- 前記負極活物質の平均粒径が、0.5μmから10μmであることを特徴とする、請求項4に記載の負極活物質。
- 負極活物質の製造方法であって、
結晶性SiO2を還元してケイ素系複合体を製造する段階を含んでなり、
前記還元が、不活性雰囲気で結晶性SiO2を、金属還元剤を含む金属性パウダー又は金属性ガスで熱還元することであり、
前記還元が、回転管状炉で熱還元することを特徴とする、負極活物質の製造方法。 - 前記還元が、不活性雰囲気で結晶性SiO2を、金属還元剤を含む金属性パウダーと混合した後、400〜1000℃で1〜24時間の間、熱還元させることを特徴とする、請求項6に記載の負極活物質の製造方法。
- 前記金属還元剤が、Ti、Al、Mg及びCaからなる群より選択される一種又は二種以上であることを特徴とする、請求項6又は7に記載の負極活物質の製造方法。
- 前記金属性パウダーに含まれた金属還元剤の量が、結晶性SiO2に対して100:0.1〜100モル比であることを特徴とする、請求項6〜8の何れか一項に記載の負極活物質の製造方法。
- 前記ケイ素系複合体を製造した後、HCl水溶液を利用して酸化された不純物を除去する段階をさらに含むことを特徴とする、請求項6〜9の何れか一項に記載の負極活物質の製造方法。
- 前記酸化された不純物がMgOを含むことを特徴とする、請求項10に記載の負極活物質の製造方法。
- 負極であって、
負極活物質を備えてなり、
前記負極活物質が、集電体及び前記集電体の少なくとも一面に形成されてなり、
前記負極活物質が、請求項1〜5の何れか一項に記載されたものである、負極。 - リチウム二次電池であって、
負極活物質を備えてなり、
前記負極活物質が、集電体及び前記集電体の少なくとも一面に形成されてなり、
前記負極活物質が、請求項1〜5の何れか一項に記載されたものである、リチウム二次電池。
