Description
本願は、Rotemらの米国仮特許出願第61/489,211号(2011年5月23日出願、名称「Control of Emulsions,Including Multiple Emulsions」)の利益を主張し、この出願は、参照することによって本明明細書に援用される。
本発明は、概して、エマルジョンに関し、より具体的には、二重および他の多重エマルジョンに関する。
フォトリソグラフィは、マイクロメートル尺度のデバイスを加工するための正確、再現可能、かつ容易な方法である。しかしながら、そのようなデバイス内で二重エマルジョンを産生するのは容易ではない。二重乳化のためのある溶液は、局所ベースでデバイスの湿潤親和性を制御する。例えば、水/油/水エマルジョン(w/o/w)は、第1の乳化ステップが、局所疎水性であって、第2の乳化ステップが、局所親水性であるように調製され得る。例えば、Weitzらの国際特許出願第PCT/US2010/047458号(2010年9月1日出願、名称「Multiple Emulsions Created Using Junctions」)(参照することによって本明細書に組み込まれる)を参照されたい。
Claims (26)
- マイクロ流体デバイスであって、該デバイスは、
マイクロ流体チャネルの第1の接合部部分を備え、
該第1の接合部部分は、流体連通する少なくとも第1、第2、および第3のマイクロ流体チャネルを備え、該第1の接合部部分は、隣接しかつ界面において流体連通するマイクロ流体チャネルの第2の接合部部分と共通接合部を形成し、マイクロ流体チャネルの該第2の接合部部分は、流体連通する少なくとも第4、第5、および第6のマイクロ流体チャネルを備え、該第1、第2、および第3のマイクロ流体チャネルの各々は、該第1の接合部部分において、それぞれの断面積を有し、該第4、第5、および第6のマイクロ流体チャネルの各々は、該第2の接合部部分において、それぞれの断面積を有し、該界面は、該第4、第5、および第6のマイクロ流体チャネルの最小断面積よりも小さい断面積を有し、
第1のマイクロ流体チャネルを通って第1の流体を流動させ、第2および第3のマイクロ流体チャネルを通って第2の流体を流動させ、そして第4および第5のマイクロ流体チャネルを通って第3の流体を流動させることで、前記共通接合部から離れるように第6のマイクロ流体チャネルを通って流動するエマルションであって、第1の流体、第2の流体および第3の流体から構成される該エマルジョンを生成させる、マイクロ流体デバイス。 - 前記第6のマイクロ流体チャネルは、中心軸を画定し、前記界面は、実質的に該第6のマイクロ流体チャネルの中心軸上に中心点を有する、請求項1に記載のマイクロ流体デバイス。
- 前記第1のマイクロ流体チャネルは、第1の中心軸を画定し、第6のマイクロ流体チャネルは、第6の中心軸を画定し、該第1の中心軸と該第6の中心軸とは、実質的に平行である、請求項1に記載のマイクロ流体デバイス。
- 前記第1の中心軸と前記第6の中心軸とは、実質的に共線である、請求項3に記載のマイクロ流体デバイス。
- 前記第1、第2、および第3のマイクロ流体チャネルの断面積は各々、前記第4、第5、および第6のマイクロ流体チャネルの最小断面積よりも小さい、請求項1〜4のうちのいずれか一項に記載のマイクロ流体デバイス。
- 前記第1のマイクロ流体チャネルの断面積は、前記第2および第3のマイクロ流体チャネルの最小断面積よりも小さい、請求項1〜5のうちのいずれか一項に記載のマイクロ流体デバイス。
- 前記第1のマイクロ流体チャネル、前記第2のマイクロ流体チャネル、および前記第3のマイクロ流体チャネルの断面積は全て、実質的に同一である、請求項1〜6のうちのいずれか一項に記載のマイクロ流体デバイス。
- 前記第2のマイクロ流体チャネルの断面積は、前記第3のマイクロ流体チャネルの断面積と実質的に等しい、請求項1〜7のうちのいずれか一項に記載のマイクロ流体デバイス。
- 前記第4のマイクロ流体チャネルの断面積は、前記第5のマイクロ流体チャネルの断面積と実質的に等しい、請求項1〜8のうちのいずれか一項に記載のマイクロ流体デバイス。
- 前記第1、第2、および第3のマイクロ流体チャネルの断面積の平均は、前記第4、第5、および第6のマイクロ流体チャネルの断面積の平均の80%未満である、請求項1〜9のうちのいずれか一項に記載のマイクロ流体デバイス。
- 前記第1、第2、および第3のマイクロ流体チャネルの断面積の平均は、前記第4、第5、および第6のマイクロ流体チャネルの断面積の平均の50%未満である、請求項1〜10のうちのいずれか一項に記載のマイクロ流体デバイス。
- 前記界面の断面積は、前記第4、第5、および第6のマイクロ流体チャネルの平均断面積の80%未満である、請求項1〜11のうちのいずれか一項に記載のマイクロ流体デバイス。
- 前記界面の断面積は、前記第4、第5、および第6のマイクロ流体チャネルの平均断面積の50%未満である、請求項1〜12のうちのいずれか一項に記載のマイクロ流体デバイス。
- 前記第1、第2、および第3のマイクロ流体チャネルの平均高さは、前記第4、第5、および第6のマイクロ流体チャネルの平均高さの80%未満である、請求項1〜13のうちのいずれか一項に記載のマイクロ流体デバイス。
- 前記第1、第2、および第3のマイクロ流体チャネルの平均幅は、前記第4、第5、および第6のマイクロ流体チャネルの平均幅の80%未満である、請求項1〜14のうちのいずれか一項に記載のマイクロ流体デバイス。
- 前記第2のマイクロ流体チャネルは、90°未満の角度で前記第1のマイクロ流体チャネルと交差する、請求項1〜15のうちのいずれか一項に記載のマイクロ流体デバイス。
- 前記第3のマイクロ流体チャネルは、90°未満の角度で前記第1のマイクロ流体チャネルと交差する、請求項1〜16のうちのいずれか一項に記載のマイクロ流体デバイス。
- 前記第2のマイクロ流体チャネルは、90°を上回る角度で前記第1のマイクロ流体チャネルと交差する、請求項1〜17のうちのいずれか一項に記載のマイクロ流体デバイス。
- 前記第3のマイクロ流体チャネルは、90°を上回る角度で前記第1のマイクロ流体チャネルと交差する、請求項1〜18のうちのいずれか一項に記載のマイクロ流体デバイス。
- 前記第2のマイクロ流体チャネルと前記第1のマイクロ流体チャネルとの角度と、前記第3のマイクロ流体チャネルと該第1のマイクロ流体チャネルの角度とは、実質的に同一である、請求項1〜19のうちのいずれか一項に記載のマイクロ流体デバイス。
- 前記第4のマイクロ流体チャネルは、90°未満の角度で前記第1のマイクロ流体チャネルと交差する、請求項1〜20のうちのいずれか一項に記載のマイクロ流体デバイス。
- 前記第5のマイクロ流体チャネルは、90°未満の角度で前記第1のマイクロ流体チャネルと交差する、請求項1〜21のうちのいずれか一項に記載のマイクロ流体デバイス。
- 前記第4のマイクロ流体チャネルは、90°を上回る角度で前記第1のマイクロ流体チャネルと交差する、請求項1〜22のうちのいずれか一項に記載のマイクロ流体デバイス。
- 前記第5のマイクロ流体チャネルは、90°を上回る角度で前記第1のマイクロ流体チャネルと交差する、請求項1〜23のうちのいずれか一項に記載のマイクロ流体デバイス。
- 前記第4のマイクロ流体チャネルと前記第1のマイクロ流体チャネルとの角度と、前記第5のマイクロ流体チャネルと前記第1のマイクロ流体チャネルとの角度は、実質的に同一である、請求項1〜24のうちのいずれか一項に記載のマイクロ流体デバイス。
- 前記第4のマイクロ流体チャネルと前記第1のマイクロ流体チャネルとの角度は、前記第2のマイクロ流体チャネルと前記第1のマイクロ流体チャネルとの角度を上回る、請求項1〜25のうちのいずれか一項に記載のマイクロ流体デバイス。
