Description
本出願は、2009年1月8日提出の米国仮出願第61/143,203号と、2009年4月22日提出の米国仮出願第61/171,646号の優先権を主張し、これらの開示を本書に援用する。
図1は、1以上の実施形態に応じたデバイスの実施例を概略的に符号100で示している。デバイス100は、ハウジング102と、ハウジングによって支持された表面104とを含む。表面104は、任意の適切な種類の表面を具えることができる。この特別な実施例では、触れることによってユーザ入力を受信するよう構成された接触面を表面104が具えている。しかしながら、本書に記載された原理に関連する接触面以外の表面を利用することができることを認識および理解されたい。
図2は、1以上の実施形態に応じた物質アセンブリの実施例の側断面図を概略的に符号200で示している。この実施例では、物質アセンブリ200がスクリーン202の形態の表面と、例えば液晶ディスプレイなどのディスプレイ204と含む。しかしながら、任意の適切な種類のディスプレイを用いることができる。
図3は、1以上の実施形態に応じた幾つかのコンポーネントの実施例を概略的に符号300で示している。コンポーネント300は、触覚モジュール302、駆動モジュール304、およびアクチュエータ機構306を含む。アクチュエータ機構306は、本実施例では、図2のアクチュエータ機構206に対応する。任意の適切なハードウェア、ソフトウェア、および/またはファームウェアを用いて触覚モジュール302および駆動モジュール304を実装することができる。
他の実施形態では、デバイスがユーザに触覚フィードバックを提供するよう構成されたアクチュエータ機構を含む。少なくとも幾つかの実施形態では、アクチュエータ機構が一組の間隔を隔てた基板を具え、この各々が導電層の物質を支持する。基板の少なくとも1つは、ユーザがデバイスに入力することができるユーザ入力機構を支持するか、そうではなくこれに動作可能に接触する。少なくとも幾つかの実施形態では、誘電体および隣接する空隙が基板の間に配置されている。幾つかの実施例では、誘電体は空気自体を具えることができる。デバイスはさらに、間隔を隔てた基板に動作可能に接続する駆動回路を含む。駆動回路は、ユーザ入力機構を介して入力を受信するデバイスに応じて電気信号で導電層の物質を駆動するよう構成されている。導電層を駆動すると基板の一方または双方に動きをもたらす。幾つかの実施形態では、駆動回路が異なる駆動プロファイルを用いて導電層を駆動することができ、ユーザ入力機構を介してユーザに様々な触覚フィードバックを提供する。
図6は、1以上の実施形態に応じて方法のステップを記載したフローチャートである。この方法は、任意の適切なハードウェア、ソフトウェア、ファームウェア、またはこれらの組み合わせに関連して実装することができる。少なくとも幾つかの実施形態では、この方法は上述したシステムに関連して実装することができる。
1以上の実施形態では、ユーザによって使用されるユーザインターフェース要素の種類に基づいて触覚フィードバックを変更することができる。例えば、仮想ボタンなどの幾つかの種類のユーザインターフェース要素はクリックの形態で触覚フィードバックするのに役立つ。このクリックは、仮想ボタンに対するユーザ入力の検出に応じて適切な電気信号プロファイルを選択および適用することによって提供することができる。最終的に、スライダなどの他の種類のユーザインターフェース要素は異なる特徴の触覚フィードバックに役立つ。例えば、恐らくデバイス設計者は、スライダがそのトラックに沿って動作するように高速で連続した多重クリックの形態で触覚フィードバックを提供するスライダ要素を具えたいであろう。この場合、適切な電気信号プロファイルの選択および適用は必要な触覚フィードバックを提供することができる。
1以上の実施形態では、2つの導電面が利用され、適切に駆動され、引力および/または反発力によって表面の少なくとも1つに動きを提供する。表面の動きを生かすか、または利用して様々な機能を提供することができる。導電面には任意の適切な種類の物質を用いることができる。例えば、透明基板の一部として導電面を形成することができる。あるいはまたはさらに、透明でない物質、例えば金属素材で導電面を形成することができる。
Claims (4)
- ハウジングと、
ユーザの接触に反応する表面であって、前記ハウジングに支持されている表面と、
当該表面に動作可能に連結するアクチュエータ機構であって、周辺スプリング機構により間隔を隔てた構造に維持された一組の導電層を有し、前記周辺スプリング機構は当該一組の導電層間に配置されると共に当該一組の導電層間の空隙を定め、当該一組の導電層の一方が前記表面と連結され他方の導電層に対して変位可能である、アクチュエータ機構と、
前記導電層間の引力を増大させる電気信号で前記導電層を駆動するよう構成された駆動回路であって、前記電気信号は前記ユーザによる前記表面への接触に反応して適用され、前記引力が前記導電層の少なくとも一方について前記導電層の他方に対する変位を生じさせ、当該変位が前記周辺スプリング機構の圧縮をもたらし、前記一組の導電層間の前記空隙を減少させ、これにより前記ユーザに触覚フィードバックを提供する、駆動回路とを具えることを特徴とするデバイス。 - 請求項1に記載のデバイスがさらに、前記間隔を隔てた導電層の一方に動作可能に隣接する接触感知ディスプレイを具え、
前記周辺スプリング機構が、前記導電層間の引力を減衰させる電気信号の変化で弛緩するよう構成されており、この弛緩が前記導電層の少なくとも一方を前記導電層の他方から遠ざかるような移動を生じさせ、前記導電層は間隔を隔てた透明な基板の上に配置されていることを特徴とするデバイス。 - 第1の導電層に接続されユーザの接触に反応する表面でユーザ入力を検出するステップと、
当該ユーザ入力に応じて、電気信号を適用して前記第1の導電層と第2の導電層の間の引力を増大させるステップであって、前記第1および第2の導電層は周辺スプリング機構で隔てられており、前記周辺スプリング機構は当該第1および第2の導電層間に配置されると共に当該第1および第2の導電層間の空隙を定め、前記引力は前記導電層の一方について前記導電層の他方に対する変位を生じさせ、当該変位が前記周辺スプリング機構の圧縮をもたらし、前記第1および第2の導電層間の前記空隙を減少させ、これにより前記検出に応じて前記ユーザに触覚フィードバックするステップとを含むことを特徴とする方法。 - 請求項3に記載の方法がさらに、
前記検出後かつ前記適用前に、前記ユーザ入力に関連する入力位置を確定するステップと、
前記入力位置に関連するユーザインターフェース要素を確定するステップとを含むことを特徴とする方法。
