Description
図3は本発明による一実施形態に係わる投射型液晶表示装置の光学系の概略構成図である。
θmax÷θmin ≧ 1.02…(数5)
なお、この例では、サブリフレクタの面形状は球面形状としたが、これに限定されるものではなく、例えば回転楕円面形状であってもよい。
前記ランプの管球部の一部にその出射光成分を前記リフレクタに向けて反射する球面上の反射膜、あるいは反射ミラー(以下、サブリフレクタと呼ぶ)を設け、前記リフレクタ後のインテグレータの有効形状に合わせて、前記サブリフレクタの反射面形状を設定する。
前記ランプの発光中心を原点、原点より前記インテグレータが存在する光軸方向をz軸、原点を通りz軸に垂直な任意の1軸をy軸、原点を通りyz平面と垂直な軸をx軸とし、原点から前記球面上の反射膜、あるいは反射ミラーの最外形の任意の点までの距離をR、z軸から前記球面上の反射膜、あるいは反射ミラーの最外形の任意の点までの極角をθ、xy平面においてx軸から前記球面上の反射膜、あるいは反射ミラーの最外形の任意の点までの方位角をφとした場合、前記球面上の反射膜、あるいは反射ミラーの形状を次式
x=R×sinθ×cosφ・・・(数13)
y=R×sinθ×sinφ・・・(数14)
z=R×cosθ・・・(数15)
の三次元極座標で表すことができ、θは、
θ=arctan(M÷(M^2/4f1-f1)) ・・・(数15)
と求めることが出来る。従って極角θの最大値をθmax、最小値をθminとしたとき、次式
θmax÷θmin≧1.02・・・(数16)
を満たすことを特徴とする。このように前記サブリフレクタの反射面形状を、前記リフレクタ後のインテグレータの有効形状に合わせて、非円形形状に設定することで、前記リフレクタで反射し、有効利用されていた光線が、反射率が100%でない前記サブリフレクタで反射するのを避けることができるため、光の利用効率を向上させることができる。
Claims (4)
- 光源と、
前記光源が出射した光を均一化させるインテグレータと、
前記インテグレータからの光を結像する複数の光学素子から形成される照明光学系と、
前記結像した光を変調する映像表示素子と、
前記映像表示素子が形成した光学像を投影する投射レンズと、
前記光源からみて前記インテグレータと反対方向に配置される第1のリフレクタと、
前記光源と前記インテグレータとの間に配置される第2のリフレクタを備え、
前記光源の発光中心を原点、前記原点から前記インテグレータが存在する光軸方向をz軸、前記原点を通り前記z軸に垂直な任意の1軸をy軸、前記原点を通りyz平面と垂直な軸をx軸、前記z軸から前記第2のリフレクタの外形の任意の点までの極角をθ、xy平面における前記x軸から前記第2のリフレクタの外形の任意の点までの方位角をφと定義すると、前記θは、前記φに基づいて定められ、
前記第2のリフレクタと前記インテグレータの間に平行化レンズが配置され、
前記第1のリフレクタの第1焦点距離をf1、前記第1のリフレクタの第2焦点距離をf2、前記原点から前記平行化レンズまでの距離をD、前記第2のリフレクタの外周を通過する光線が前記第1のリフレクタと交わる点(H)の前記光軸からの距離をP1、前記点(H)から前記光軸に下した垂線の足を点(L)、前記点(L)の前記第1のリフレクタの楕円原点からの距離をZ1、前記第1のリフレクタの前記点(H)で反射した光線と前記光軸のなす角をβ、前記インテグレータの中心から光が通過する有効外形までの距離である有効径をM(φ)とすると、
を満たす、投射型映像表示装置。 - 前記インテグレータを構成する各レンズセルの集合体の外周を結んで形成される周縁形状は矩形である、請求項1記載の投射型映像表示装置。
- 前記第1のリフレクタは楕円回転体であり、前記第2のリフレクタは球面体である、請求項1又は2記載の投射型映像表示装置。
- 前記極角θの最大値をθmax、最小値をθminとすると、θmax÷θmin ≧ 1.02を満たす、請求項1乃至3何れか一に記載の投射型映像表示装置。
