Description
前記アウトボード側の密封手段は、例えば、前記外方部材に取付けられて内方部材に接する接触シールと、この接触シールよりも軸受空間の外側にあって、内外の部材間に設けられた前記ラビリンスシールとでなり、前記接触シールは、前記外方部材の内周面に取付けられた芯金と、この芯金に固着された弾性部材とでなり、この弾性部材は、内方部材に先端に接するシールリップを有する。
案内手段が溝であると、外方部材と一体に案内手段が形成できるため、部品点数,組立工数の増加を回避できる。
この車輪用軸受装置は、内周に複列の軌道面4を有する外方部材1と、これら軌道面4にそれぞれ対向する軌道面5を有する内方部材2と、これら複列の軌道面4,5間に介在する複列の転動体3とを備える。転動体3はボールからなり、各列毎に保持器6で保持されている。この車輪用軸受装置は、複列のアンギュラ玉軸受とされ、各軌道面4,5は、断面円弧状とされて背面合わせとなるように接触角が形成されている。
特に、フランジ2aおよびシールド板11を伝わってシールド板11と外方部材1の間に流れ込む水、および外方部材1の外径面を伝わってシールド板11と外方部材1の間に流れ込む水が、溝1cによって外方部材1の下方へ案内されるので、接触シール部への泥水の浸入防止効果が高いものとなる。
このようにシールリップの枚数を削減した場合は、接触シール9の形状が簡略化されることで接触シール9の軸方向寸法が短くなり、それだけ接触シール9に接触させるためのシール面2cの軸方向長さも短くでき、軸受装置の軸方向長さを短くすることができる。これにより、車輪用軸受装置の軽量化が可能となり、この点でも車両の燃費向上に貢献できる。図2,図3の例において、接触シール9以外の構成は、図1(B)と同様であるので、共通部分に同一の符号を付しその説明を省略する。

Claims (4)
- 円周に複列の軌道面を有する外方部材と、これら軌道面に対向する軌道面を有しかつアウトボード側端の外周に車輪取付用のフランジを有する内方部材と、対向する軌道面間に介在した複列の転動体と、前記外方部材と内方部材との間の環状空間の両端を密封するアウトボード側およびインボード側の密封手段とを備え、前記アウトボード側の密封手段は、前記外方部材に取付けられて先端が前記内方部材に接するシールリップを有し、車体に対して車輪を回転自在に支持する車輪用軸受装置において、
前記外方部材のアウトボード側端の外周面を他の部分よりも小径とし、前記車輪取付用のフランジに、前記外方部材の前記小径となったアウトボード側端の外周に内周面が近接してラビリンスシールを構成する筒部を有するシールド板を設け、前記外方部材の外周面における前記シールド板で覆われかつ前記ラビリンスシール内に位置する軸方向範囲の外周に、前記フランジおよびシールド板を伝わって前記シールド板と外方部材の間に流れ込む水、および前記外方部材の外径面を伝わって前記シールド板と外方部材の間に流れ込む水を外方部材の下方へ案内する溝を円周方向に沿って設け、前記シールド板のインボード側端は前記環状溝よりもインボード側で、かつ前記外方部材の外周面の前記小径となった部分のインボード側端よりもアウトボード側であることを特徴とする車輪用軸受装置。 - 請求項1において、前記アウトボード側の密封手段が、前記外方部材に取付けられて内方部材に接する接触シールと、この接触シールよりも軸受空間の外側にあって、内外の部材間に設けられた前記ラビリンスシールとでなり、前記接触シールは、前記外方部材の内周面に取付けられた芯金と、この芯金に固着された弾性部材とでなり、この弾性部材は、内方部材に先端に接するシールリップを有する車輪用軸受装置。
- 請求項1または請求項2において、前記シールド板の筒状部が、外周を伝わる水を基端側へ返す水返しを有する形状である車輪用軸受装置。
- 請求項1ないし請求項3のいずれか1項において、前記シールド板を、耐腐食性を持つ材質とした車輪用軸受装置。
