Description
この出願は、2003年8月5日出願の米国特許出願第10/634547号に対する優先権を主張する。
の用語は、相互に隣りである接点(または列または行)をいう。クロストークは、1つの信号接点が電界を混合し、それによって信号の完全さを損なうために隣接の信号接点内に電気的干渉を引き起こすときに生じる。電子装置の小型化および高速化によって、高度な信号保全性の電子通信がより普及してきたので、クロストークの軽減が、コネクタ設計の重要な要素になってきている。
図2Aは、導電体および誘電体要素が、通常のI形状に配置される電気コネクタの概略的例証図である。そのようなコネクタが、譲渡人の「I−ビーム」技術に具体化されており、名称を「低クロスおよびインピーダンス制御される電気コネクタ」とする米国特許第5741144号に説明され、請求されており、その開示は、ここに全体として引用することによって組込まれる。低クロストークおよび制御されるインピーダンスが、この幾何学形状の使用から結果することが分かってきた。
この発明によれば、上述した基礎的な原理は、さらに分析され、拡張され、さらには、信号および接地接点の適切な配置および幾何学形状を決定することによって、接点間のシールドがない状態であっても、隣接する信号接点間のクロストークをさらに制限する仕方を決めるために使用することができる。図2Bは、この発明による信号接点Sおよび接地接点Gとの接点配置におけるアクティブな行に基づく差動信号ペアS+、S−の隣接区域における電圧の等高線に沿ったプロットを有する。図示されるように、等高線42は、0ボルトに最も近く、等高線44は−1ボルトに最も近く、そして等高線46は、+1ボルトに最も近い。観察されたことは、電圧は、アクティブペアに最も近い「クワイエット」差動信号ペアで必ずしも0になる必要はないが、このクワイエットペアとの干渉は、ほぼゼロである。すなわち、ポジティブゴーイングクワイエット差動ペア信号接点に与える電圧は、ネガティブゴーイングクワイエット差動ペア信号接点に与える電圧とほぼ同一である。その結果、クワイエットペアのノイズは、それがポジティブとネガティブゴーイング信号の間の電圧の差であり、ゼロに近い。
図4Aは、この発明による行ベースの差動信号ペア(すなわち、差動信号ペアは行に配置される)を有するコネクタ100を示している。(ここに使用されるように、「行」は、接点がエッジ結合される方向に引用される。「列」は行と直交する。)図示されるように、各行401-406は、頂から底への順で、第1差動信号ペアと、第1接地導体と、第2差動信号ペアと、第2接地導体とを有する。理解されるように、第1行401は、頂から底への順序で、信号導体S1+およびS1−を有する第1差動信号ペアと、第1接地導体Gと、信号導体S7+およびS7−を有する第2差動信号ペアと、第2接地導体Gとを有する。行413および416のそれぞれは、複数の接地導体Gを有する。列411および412は、ともに6差動信号ペアを有し、列514および515は、ともに他の6差動信号ペアを有する。接地導体の列413および416は、列411−412の信号ペアおよび列414−415の信号ペア間のクロストークを制限する。図4Aに示される実施例において、行内への36接点の配置は、12差動信号ペアを有する。コネクタは、シールドが全くないので、接点は、比較的により大きく(シールドを有するコネクタにおけるものと比較して)作られる。したがって、より小さなコネクタスペースが、望ましいインピーダンスを達成するために必要である。
図8は、差動信号ペアの信号導体が差動信号ペアの長さに沿ってほぼ一定の差動インピーダンスを有する高速の電気コネクタに向けられるこの発明による直角電気コネクタの斜視図である。図8に示されるように、コネクタ800は、第1区域801および第2区域802を有する。第1区域801は、電気的に第1電気装置810に接続され、第2区域802は、電気的に第1電気装置812に接続される。そのような接続は、SMT、PIP、はんだボールグリッドアレイ、プレス嵌め、またはその他の接続である。典型的には、そのような接続は、接続ピン間に離間する従来の接続を有する従来の接続である。しかしながら、そのような接続は、接続ピン間の他の離間を有する。第1区域801および第2区域802は、電気的にともに接続され、それによって、電気的に第1区域810を第2区域812に接続する。
導体S+、S−は、相互に向かって進み、空気領域860における分離距離D2において、頂点に至る。距離D2は、接地導体Gに対する接近のように、他のパラメータを与えるように、導体S+およびS−間の望ましい差動インピーダンスを与えるように、選定される。望ましい差動インピーダンスZ0は、システムインピーダンス(すなわち、第1の電気装置810)に依存し、100オームまたはある他の値である。しかしながら、典型的に5%の公差が望まれ、ある用途には10%が受入れ可能である。ほぼ一定の差動インピーダンスを考慮すると、10%またはそれ以下の範囲である。
リード組立908の一実施例は、メタルリードフレーム940および挿入モールドされたプラスチックフレーム933を有する。この方法において、挿入モールドされたリード組立933は、端子または導体930の1行を含むように作用する。端子は、差動ペアか接地接点のいずれかを有する。この方法において、各リード組立908は、差動ペア935Aおよび935Bと接地接点937とを有する。
図34Aおよび図34Bは、この発明によるコネクタ用ヘッダ組立の実施例を示す。図示されるように、ヘッダ組立200は複数の挿入モールドされたリード組立(IMLA)202を有する。この発明の概念によれば、IMLA202が、変更なしに、非平衡終端された信号送信、差動信号送信、またはこの非平衡終端された信号送信および差動信号送信の組合せのために使用される。
Claims (6)
- 電気的に導電性の接点のリニア接点アレイと、その中に前記接点が少なくとも部分的に延びるリードフレームとを有してなり、第1の指定において、前記接点が1ペアの信号接点を有する少なくとも1つの差動信号ペアを形成し、さらに、第2の指定において、前記接点が少なくとも1つの非平衡終端された信号導体を形成するように、前記接点は、接地または信号接点のいずれかとして選択的に指定することができ、
電気的に導電性の接点の第2リニア接点アレイと、その中にこの第2リニアアレイの接点が少なくとも部分的に延びる第2リードフレームとを有してなり、前記第2リードフレームは、前記リードフレームに隣接しており、前記第2リニア接点アレイの接点は、第3指定において、前記第2リニア接点アレイの接点が、信号接点の第2ペアを有する少なくとも1つの差動信号ペアを形成し、さらに第4指定において、前記第2リニア接点アレイの接点が、少なくとも1つの非平衡終端された信号導体を形成するように、選択的に接地または信号接点のいずれかを指定することができ、
少なくとも1つの差動信号対のインピーダンスが、電気的に導電性の接点の第2リニアアレイの存否において、40ピコ秒の差動信号立上り時間で、90−110オームであり、電気的に導電性の接点の第2リニアアレイの指定とは無関係に、かつ、前記リードフレームと第2リードフレームとの間の挿入シールドプレートを欠如するコネクタシステムとして機能する電気コネクタ。 - 前記少なくとも1つの非平衡終端された信号導体は、40−70オームの非平衡終端インピーダンスを有する前記請求項1記載の電気コネクタ。
- 前記少なくとも1つの差動信号ペア接点は、5GHz近辺で0.7dB以下の挿入損失を有する前記請求項1記載の電気コネクタ。
- 前記少なくとも1つの差動信号ペアで測定されたマルチアクティブ近端クロストークは、40ピコ秒の立上り時間で、3%以下である前記請求項1記載の電気コネクタ。
- 少なくとも1つの差動信号ペアで測定されたマルチアクティブ遠端クロストークは、40ピコ秒の立上り時間で、4%以下である前記請求項1記載の電気コネクタ。
- 前記少なくとも1つの非平衡終端された信号導体は、4GHzで2dB以下の挿入損失を有する前記請求項1記載の電気コネクタ。
