Description

本発明は、柄を備え、この柄がその少なくとも一端に、綿ヘッドを形成する繊維材料を備えている、化粧用または医療用あるいは体の手入れ用の綿棒に関する。このような化粧用または医療用の綿棒は、清掃のため、化粧を落とすためまたは化粧品を塗るためあるいは医療分野では傷の清掃のためまたは軟膏を塗るために役立つ。
この種の綿棒はさまざまなものが知られている。特許文献1には、親油性のポリオレフィン微小繊維からなる綿ヘッドを備えた綿棒が開示されている。しかし、微小繊維の用語は充分に定義されていない。
特許文献2には、繊維材料が木綿繊維と熱で溶融可能な複合繊維を有する綿棒が開示されている。この複合繊維の割合は例えば少なくとも10重量%と記載されている。この特許文献2にはその他の指摘はされていない。
特許文献3には、電気部品または電気機械部品を清掃するための清掃棒が開示されている。この清掃棒は生地片によって取り囲まれた先が尖っている端部を有する。この端部は棒の円錐形部に続いている。シールされた円錐状の端部が清掃棒に生じる。生地はポリエステル編み物でもよいし、その代わりにポリエステル−ナイロン−微小繊維材料でもよい。
特許文献4には、木材パルプ繊維と、10μmよりも小さい中間繊維直径の熱可塑性微小繊維とからなる繊維混合物が開示されている。空気流と木材パルプ繊維流を微小繊維用紡糸ヘッドの範囲に流入させることによって、微小繊維の紡糸と同時にこの繊維混合物が製造されることにより、繊維が結合し、微小繊維が木材パルプ繊維を固定することになる。しかも、微小繊維がまだ高い温度で硬化していない状態にあるときに、微小繊維が木材パルプ繊維を固定する。従って、微小繊維は木材パルプ繊維のためにマトリックスを形成するように作用する。この場合、微小繊維は、1重量%以下の非常に少ない微小繊維含有量の場合にも、木材パルプ繊維を柔軟に結合し、固定結合しない。ナイロン繊維のような合成繊維と、木綿、亜麻、ジュート、絹のような天然繊維を含む他の繊維または粒子状材料を付加的に挿入することができる。
溶融吹き付け法で微小繊維を形成することによって現場で繊維混合物を製造することにより、微小繊維は繊維製品内でその独自性を失い、木材パルプ繊維との接触に基づいてまだ軟らかい状態に変化させられて固定される。すなわち、微小繊維はもはや個別的な繊維成分としてまたは製品を製造するため、すなわち製造プロセスを導入するための繊維として使用不可能である。
この特許文献4の教示では、溶融吹き付け微小繊維と木材パルプ繊維の組み合わせ流れが2つの真空ロールの隙間に案内され、そこで50g/m2 から約200g/m2 の非常に大きな単位面積あたりの重量のフリースに形成される。繊維混合物はフリースを形成した後でその最終的なフリース形態にある。その後の繊維の離解、すなわち繊維をばらばらにすることはもはや不可能である。
更に、綿ヘッドが100%の木綿繊維からなる綿棒が知られている。

本発明の根底をなす課題は、綿ヘッドの強度を大幅に低下させずに、やわらかい感触を生じるように、冒頭に述べた種類の綿棒を改良することである。更に、100%の木綿からなるこのような綿棒に対して、清掃作用を改善すべきである。
この課題は冒頭に述べた綿棒において本発明に従い、繊維材料が少なくとも7mmの長さの微小ステープルファイバ(微小スフ)を含んでいることによって解決される。
微小ステープルファイバについて述べると、これは1dtex以下の繊維太さの合成繊維であると理解される。その際、微小ステープルファイバの用語は、綿棒の自由端に綿ヘッドを形成するための繊維フリースまたは帯状(テープ状)またはコード状の繊維フリースを製造するために、前もって別個の製造方法で形成された、所定の長さまたは所定の長さ範囲の微小繊維が使用されることを示している。ばらばらにされたこのステープルファイバは繊維材料を形成するために積み重ねられる。すなわち、スパンボンデッド法または溶融吹き付け法で形成された繊維は使用されない。この方法の場合(特許文献4参照)、繊維形成プロセスとフリース形成プロセスが1つの過程で生じるのではなく、フリース形成プロセスとは別個の製造方法で形成された所定の長さまたは所定の長さ範囲(7mm未満)の微小繊維が使用される。合成の微小ステープルファイバが綿棒または綿棒の綿ヘッドに大きな柔軟性を付与し、それに伴って使用者がすぐれた感触を得ることが判った。驚くべきことに、綿棒の清掃作用または化粧落とし作用または強度が低下しない。それとは反対に、少なくとも7mmの長さの合成微小ステープルファイバを有する本発明による綿棒は、すぐれた清掃作用および化粧落とし作用を有し、100%の木綿繊維からなる綿棒の場合よりも、脂肪を含む汚れを耳から除去するために適している。
清掃すべき皮膚表面と接触し得る繊維材料の表面積は、微小ステープルファイバの細かさに基づいて、純粋な木綿の綿棒よりも大きい。従って、この大きな表面積は、不純物、鱗屑、脂肪を含む汚れまたは化粧品を収容する働きをする莫大な数の微小隙間および微小開口を画成する。
使用可能な微小ステープルファイバの繊維長さは好ましくは10〜38mm、特に15〜32mmである。
微小ステープルファイバは本発明の他の実施形ではポリエステル(PES)またはビスコース繊維である。
繊維材料の質量における微小ステープルファイバの割合は特に3〜50重量%、特に5〜30重量%、好ましくは5〜20重量%である。
更に、繊維材料が付加的に、97重量%以下、特に60〜97重量%、好ましくは70〜95重量%の木綿繊維を含んでいると有利であることが判った。綿棒が顔を洗浄する溶液を良好に吸収するのに適しているかあるいは高い液体割合を有する化粧落とし剤を用いて化粧を落とすのに使用されるときに、木綿繊維を含んでいると特に有利であることが判った。木綿繊維として、好ましくは木綿すきくず(コーマ綿)が使用される。
本発明による綿棒を製造するために、別個のプロセスで製造された合成微小ステープルファイバが、普通のフリース形成方法に従ってフリースを形成するために積み重ねられる。異なる種類の繊維が使用されると、この繊維は前もって好ましくは空気流と混合され、そして積み重ねられる。熱溶融可能な結合繊維が付加的に設けられていると、ガス温度を正確に調節した“空気通過方法”で、フリースのヒートセットが行われる。その際、好ましくは合成微小ステープルファイバが熱的、ひいては構造的な影響または損傷を受けることがない。
更に、綿ヘッドの繊維材料の高い内部強度を達成するという観点から、繊維材料が熱溶融可能な結合繊維を含んでいると有利であることが判った。繊維材料の質量における熱溶融可能な結合繊維の割合は、特に5〜20重量%、好ましくは5〜15重量%である。
本発明の他の実施形では、結合繊維が多成分繊維、特に高い温度で溶融する支持成分(担体成分)と低い温度で溶融する成分を有する複合繊維である。
多成分繊維、特に複合繊維は好ましくは、1.3〜10dtex、特に1.3〜3dtexの繊維太さと、3〜60mmの繊維長さを有する。コア/シース繊維(コア/コート繊維)またはサイドバイサイド繊維を使用すると有利である。
低い溶融温度の成分としてのコポリエステル(CO-PES)と、高い溶融温度の成分としてのポリエステル(PES)とを有する複合繊維が使用されると有利であることが判った。
本発明の他の重要な実施形では、熱溶融可能な結合繊維または低い温度で溶融する多成分繊維の成分(例えばCO-PES)の融点が、微小ステープルファイバの融点よりも低い。例えば約256℃の融点を有するポリエステル材料からなる微小ステープルファイバと、110℃の融点を有する低い温度で溶融する成分CO-PESと、255℃の融点を有する高い温度で溶融する成分PESを備えたCO-PES/PESの複合繊維が使用される。このような場合、複合繊維の高い融点の成分と微小ステープルファイバを熱的に変化させないで、綿ヘッドを製造するための繊維フリースを熱的に固化することができる。
きわめて重要な本発明の他の実施形では、柄の自由端部に対する繊維材料の連結の程度、しかも繊維自体の結合の程度を示す、綿ヘッドを形成する繊維材料の引き抜き抵抗が、次に記載する引き抜き試験で測定して、少なくとも30N、好ましくは少なくとも40Nである。
引き抜き試験
引き抜き試験によって、化粧用または医療用綿棒の柄の自由端が剥がれるときの綿ヘッドの引き抜き抵抗または引き抜き強度が測定される。そのために、図1に示す試料ホルダー2と、図2に示すDIN51221の引張り試験機が使用される。試料ホルダー2は穴6を有する保持ブロック4を備えている。この穴の直径は綿棒の柄8の外径よりも少しだけ大きい。その際、穴6の直径は綿棒の柄8の外径よりも、この柄の外径の3〜5%だけ大きい。従って、柄の外径の誤差が±3%の場合にも、綿棒の柄の範囲を実質的に抵抗なく摺動可能に穴に出し入れ可能である。試験を行うために、試験しない綿棒の側から綿ヘッドが切り落とされ、綿棒のこの自由端が保持ブロック4の穴6に差し込まれる。検査すべき棒を備えた試料ホルダー2は、図2から判るように、引張り試験機3に固定される。その際、試料ホルダーに差し込まれた綿棒の自由端部10は図2から明らかなように引張り試験機3の下側のクランプ12に固定される。試料ホルダー2自体は引張り試験機の上側のクランプ14に固定される。引張り試験機は、クランプ12,14が300mm/分の試験速度で互いに離れるよう動くように調節されている。この場合、上側のクランプ14は図示のように、定置された下側のクランプ12から試験速度で離隔される。その間、クランプの間に作用する試験力が測定される。試験中に検出された最高引張り力(ニュートン)が少数の位を切り捨てて表示される。綿棒の柄8が綿ヘッド16から剪断され、試料ホルダー2の保持ブロック4の穴6から引き抜かれることによって、その都度の試験が終了する。
最適な吸収性の観点から、本発明による綿棒の繊維材料が、次に記載する沈下時間試験で、水溶液中に少なくとも3秒、好ましくは少なくとも3.4秒、特に少なくとも4秒、とりわけ少なくとも4.5秒の沈下時間を有すると有利である。
更に、上記の吸収性試験の後で繊維材料の保水能力が少なくとも21g/g、特に少なくとも23g/gであると有利であることが判った。
両試験は、綿ヘッドの製造のために直接使用可能であるような、繊維材料を積み重ねた状態で実施される。
繊維材料が水溶液内に速く沈下すればするほど、繊維材料全体の親水性は高い。しかし、これは特に脂ぎった皮膚表面を清掃する際に無条件で所望されることではない。3秒以上の沈下時間を有する、微小繊維を含む繊維材料の場合、純木綿繊維材料の場合よりも、きわめて良好な清掃作用が達成されることが判った。しかし、これは、幾分長い沈下時間が必ず保水能力の低下を生じることを意味しない。本発明による綿棒は、純粋な木綿の綿棒の場合よりも、柔軟性が高いと共に、吸収性が高いかまたは保水能力が少なくともほぼ同じである。純粋な木綿の綿棒の保水能力は次に説明する試験において、22.5g/g以下の範囲にある。
沈下時間試験および吸収性試験
次の試験はPH.EUR.1997,専攻論文“木綿製の包帯用脱脂綿”に記載されている。これは、繊維材料を充填した小さな金網籠の、液体内での沈下時間を測定する吸収性と、保水能力の試験である。そのために使用される金網籠は0.4mmの直径を有する銅線からなる円筒状の籠である。高さが80mmで、直径が50mmで、メッシュサイズが15〜20mmそして質量が2.7±0.3gである。更に、直径が11〜12cmのビーカが使用される。
積み重ねたフリースの形をした試験すべき繊維材料の試験量5gを金網籠に入れる。その前に籠を0.01gまで正確に計量する(M1)。5gの試料材料は質量M2を形成する。ビーカに、純水を約100mmの高さまで充填する。充填した籠を10mmの高さから水に落下させる。水面下に沈むまでの時間をストップウォッチで測定する。沈下時間の測定の直後、籠を水から持上げ、30秒の長さの滴下のためにその縦軸線を水平にして保持する。滴下時間経過後、籠が風袋測定ビーカ(M3)に入れられ、0.01gまで正確に計量される(M4)。
保水能力g/gは、以下で表される。
g/g=〔M4−(M2+M3)〕/(M2−M1)
沈下時間と保水能力は、少なくとも3回の測定の平均値として表示される。綿棒を製造するために有利な繊維材料にとって、沈下時間は少なくとも3秒で、保水能力は少なくとも21g/gである。これは吸収繊維の割合および/または親水化剤の添加によって達成可能である。
本発明の他の実施形では、繊維材料が軟化剤を含んでいる、しかも繊維材料の質量の少なくとも0.2重量%だけ含んでいると有利であることが判った。軟化剤は好ましくは、隙間を塞がれた木綿繊維を処理するために使用される。脂肪酸凝縮物および/または機能性ポリジメチルシロキサンおよび/またはポリエチレンを含んでいる。
本発明による綿棒のきわめて良好な品質は、綿ヘッドを形成する繊維材料が、0.5〜8g/m、特に1〜2g/mの重量の繊維フリーステープまたは繊維フリースコードから作られることによって達成される。その際、繊維フリースは特に10〜20mm、好ましくは12〜18mmの幅を有する。従って、製造プロセスで供給されるコード状またはテープ状の繊維フリースの区間は非常に薄く、好ましくは非常に狭く、そして柄の自由端の周りにきわめて良好に配置し、それ自体公知の方法で固定することができる。
綿ヘッドを製造するための繊維フリースまたは繊維フリーステープが機械方向に配向されたカードウェブであると特に有利であることが判った。これにより、コード状またはテープ状の繊維フリースの高い引張り強度が達成可能である。これは柄の自由端における綿ヘッドの製造を容易にする。
本発明の他の特徴、詳細および効果は、添付の特許請求の範囲と、図面と、本発明の好ましい実施の形態の次の説明とから明らかである。
図1,2は既に前述した。
図3は、柄22と、柄22の両端に設けられた綿ヘッド24とを備えた代表的な化粧用綿棒20を示している。この綿ヘッドは少なくとも7mmの長さと1dtex以下の繊維太さを有する微小ステープルファイバを備えた繊維材料からなっている。
繊維材料の有利な組成によれば、繊維材料は、0.9dtexの繊維太さの微小ステープルファイバを3〜50重量%、特に5〜30重量%、好ましくは5〜20重量%含んでいる。繊維材料は更に、木綿を97重量%以下、特に60〜95重量%、好ましくは70〜95重量%含んでいる。上記の微小繊維は18〜38mmの繊維長さを有するポリエステルまたはビスコース繊維である。
特に有利な実施の形態によれば、繊維材料は90重量%の木綿繊維、好ましくは木綿すきくず(BW)と、10重量%の微小ステープルファイバを備えている。綿ヘッドを形成するために、約0.02〜0.3g、特に0.02〜0.05gの繊維材料が使用される。柄の縦方向に対して横方向に測定したヘッド直径は3〜12mm、特に3.5〜5.5mmである。柄の縦方向に測定したヘッド長さは10〜35mm、特に11〜16mmである。柄の直径は約2.4〜5.5mmである。
次の表は沈下時間試験と吸水性試験(保水能力)の平均値を示している。この場合、0.9dtexの太さのポリエステル微小繊維10重量%と、90重量%の木綿繊維からなる混合物の4つの試料と、0.9dtexの太さのポリエステル微小繊維25重量%と、75重量%の木綿繊維からなる混合物の3つの試料が試験され、木綿100%の綿コードの試料と比較された。10%の微小ステープルファイバを追加すると、高い柔軟性と共に、沈下時間の増大と保水能力の増大が生じた。

Claims (18)

  1. 柄がその少なくとも一方の端部に、綿ヘッドを形成する繊維材料を備えている、化粧用または医療用または体の手入れ用の綿棒において、繊維材料が、少なくとも7mmの長さの、フリース形成とは別個の工程により形成される、1dtex以下の繊維太さの合成繊維である微小ステープルファイバを含み、前記繊維材料の質量における前記微小ステープルファイバの割合が3〜50重量%であり、前記繊維材料が97重量%以下の木綿繊維を含む、ことを特徴とする綿棒。
  2. 前記微小ステープルファイバがポリエステル(PES)繊維またはビスコース繊維であることを特徴とする、請求項1記載の綿棒。
  3. 前記繊維材料の質量における前記微小ステープルファイバの割合が5〜35重量%であることを特徴とする、請求項1または2記載の綿棒。
  4. 前記繊維材料が更に、60〜97重量%の木綿繊維を含んでいることを特徴とする、請求項1〜3のいずれか一つに記載の綿棒。
  5. 前記木綿繊維が木綿すきくずであることを特徴とする、請求項4記載の綿棒。
  6. 前記繊維材料が熱溶融可能な結合繊維を含んでいることを特徴とする、請求項1〜5のいずれか一つに記載の綿棒。
  7. 前記繊維材料の質量における前記熱溶融可能な結合繊維の割合が、5〜20重量%であることを特徴とする、請求項6記載の綿棒。
  8. 前記熱溶融可能な結合繊維が多成分繊維であることを特徴とする、請求項6または7記載の綿棒。
  9. 前記多成分繊維が1.3〜10dtexの繊維太さを有することを特徴とする、請求項8記載の綿棒。
  10. 前記多成分繊維が3〜60mmの繊維長さを有することを特徴とする、請求項8または9記載の綿棒。
  11. 前記結合繊維がコポリエステル(CO-PES)とポリエステル(PES)の複合繊維であるこ
    とを特徴とする、請求項6〜10のいずれか一つに記載の綿棒。
  12. 前記熱溶融可能な結合繊維または前記多成分繊維の低い温度で溶融する成分の融点が、前記微小ステープルファイバの融点よりも低いことを特徴とする、請求項8〜11のいずれか一つに記載の綿棒。
  13. 本明細書に記載した引き抜き試験で測定した、前記柄の自由端からの前記繊維材料の引き抜き抵抗が、30Nよりも大きいことを特徴とする、請求項1〜12のいずれか一つに記載の綿棒。
  14. 本明細書に記載した沈下時間試験による、水溶液内での前記繊維材料の沈下時間が、少なくとも3秒であることを特徴とする、請求項1〜13のいずれか一つに記載の綿棒。
  15. 本明細書に記載した吸収性試験による、前記繊維材料の保水能力が少なくとも21g/g(繊維材料1グラムあたりの液体のグラム)であることを特徴とする、請求項1〜14のいずれか一つに記載の綿棒。
  16. 前記繊維材料が木綿繊維を軟化する軟化剤を含んでいることを特徴とする、請求項1〜15のいずれか一つに記載の綿棒。
  17. 前記綿ヘッドを形成する繊維材料が、0.5〜8g/mの重量の繊維フリースまたは繊維フリーステープから製造されていることを特徴とする、請求項1〜16のいずれか一つに記載の綿棒。
  18. 前記繊維フリースまたは前記繊維フリーステープが機械方向に配向されたカードウェブであることを特徴とする、請求項17記載の綿棒。
